Well, I'm in the middle of a rent of this, and it's quite fun, apart from the graphics looking like a PSX game - very grainy. Handling is okay, and the force-feedback steering through the GT Force is actually one of the better ones on the PS2.

I'd buy it on Platinum (if only to dress up the cars and the garage) but I won't be paying full fare.

When they say you can kit your cars, do you actually customize them, or are there prebuilt cars that are customized?

One of the options under tuning is to 'dress up' your car - the kits are either the factor or other commercially available aftermarket kits - you start with a bog standard car, and tune it and 'tart' it up as you progress through the levels. You can change the bonnet, front airdam, rear bumper, side sill trim and rear wing - plus decals and stuff. It's all Japanese manufacturers, I think.

I played it in the shops today , and i used the AE86 on the Akagi Course. As i was in a rush i couldn't really drift, i was using the more conventional style. I looked at the way you could dress up the cars and one of the AE86s was barely recognisable!

i got auto modelista for xmas. which was about a month after it came out in the uk. i think..

anyway. they are planning a update/add on or they are releasing an auto modelista 2. which WILL be online, they say
and hopfully they will lose that annoying japanese comentator that talks to you during the game

I've borrowed this game of a mate, I must admit that it has grown on me quite a bit. I will definitely buy the sequel. The only thing is that the single player game is a little short, but it is quite fun. Although the cars I make look soo much better than the AI's cars with those cheesy stripes and horrible stickers everywhere. Maybe ill post some screenshots of my cars and replay shots, hell maybe I might fling together some video footage .

When they make a sequal i just hope they double everything in the game cause it needs more
cars
tracks
mods
and races.

with all of this i think the game would be a worthy buy, but the orignal just isnt long enough to keep me interseted 4 more than a fortnight.

I think it was so short because the main element was the online racing. I mean if the game was online I probably wouldn't have been too bothered about the small amount of tracks and races. The car selection was good, although I really wanted a sileighty and a Sunny GTI-R probably a few others as well.

I have the Beta Test Auto Modellista for the United States, all we can do right now is play online with a set amount of cars and certain tracks. We can't access the garage yet but so far it seems like its going to be a decent game i like the graphics and the game play is easy and fun. But they will probably release another version soon so we can finnaly customize our cars. Until then thats all i know

Oh I hate you soooo much!

So you have the network adapter?
We got an offline only version of Auto Modelista in the UK. So it makes you feel kinda unforfilled playing the game. Oh well looks like I will have to wait for the second one.

well,if someone hasn't answered the main guy that started this thread,if I spell this right..the last car manufactor's name is Mutsuoka (please correct my spelling,all I know is it's spelt something like that =P) cause I've beaten the game also,but I still gotta get all the garage items and such.I've already created my first remix in the VJ Theater with a replay of me doing a run in my Mecha-Tuned AE86 on the Shinjuku course in the rain,boy was that fun ^_^

when i registered my network adapter online with Sony they sent me an email telling me that i was eligable to beta test some games. So i went to their site checked out what you could beta test and sure enough there was Auto Modellista and a couple weeks later i got a package.

i've got the japanese version of AM. just wanted to know if the music's the same on the british version - has it got Lab4, or is it only crap japanese music?
