I'm also having this issue a lot. Pages take a while to load and a lot of images don't load at all, I just see the alt text.

I was hoping to wait another day or two before saying anything. But a few days after bringing up the issues some users were having, I'm still having the same problem when it comes to loading pages. It's no less frequent than it was earlier in the week.

I'm assuming it's related to the server move, but PM Read Receipts don't seem to be working for PM replies. Only logs them for "new" PMs.
Does this only apply to PM conversations which were imported from ForzaPlanet?

Hmm, pages are loading very quickly for me, and all of the server's vital signs look healthy, including average page loading times.

I see, however, that both of you are using the same ISP, and are in the same general area of the UK. This would almost certainly indicate some type of routing issue that your ISP is having between its network and GTP's server. There's nothing I can do, but you may want to contact your ISP to make sure they are aware of the issue.

No. Three different PM conversations only on GTP, one of them with a member who I'm pretty sure was never part of Forza Planet. I make a new PM to someone, and the read receipt registers and is saved. I reply to a PM, and the read receipt does not; as if I didn't have the checkbox selected.

It only seems to happen every now and again, it's mostly fine right now except the main GT Planet header image isn't loading. Sometimes the random car image on the right doesn't load either.

I hadn't considered it may be a Virgin Media issue, I could notify them but I doubt they would do anything about it, they're not the best ISP going. I have however flushed my DNS cache and it seems to be better, whether it's merely a coincidence I'll find out as time goes on.

Hmm, I'm not really sure what would cause that; read receipts appear to be working as expected on my end. We're nearing a site software upgrade, and that will likely resolve any such issues.

Are you just upgrading to vB4/5 or thinking of switching elsewhere, IPB maybe?

Huh. I figured it was related to the merger, because it only started doing it after it happened.

Edit: And then I replied to a PM and it... did save the receipt. So I dunno now.

It either loads perfectly fine (which it does about 70% of the time), or the issues you mentioned occur at any given moment, along with slow loading times and post submissions taking a while to go through.

Virgin wouldn't do much to help out with such a problem, so I flushed my DNS cache as you did. Hopefully it worked since I loaded this thread moments before doing so and it took a a fair while. Everything appears to load well enough now, which may or may not last.

EDIT: It's still being problematic when loading. Not that it's a major hindrance, but I'm just going to hope it sorts itself out soon.

Since the merge I have had a number of problems with GTP.

Half the images do not load, and instead are replaced by this:
thread.gif

(If you can't see that it's the symbol that comes up when a picture doesn't load, the tiny rectangle with the grassy hill on it)
That includes avatars, emoticons, images etc etc

Also on a number of occasions the whole website doesn't load properly and this happens:

On top of that pages take around 30 seconds to load fully now, whereas before it was virtually instantaneous. It's frustrating to say the least.

Edit: since I've posted this some pages don't load at all, so I've had to resort to using my phone.

I'm using chrome by the way.

It's not related to the merging of the sites; I see you are on the same ISP and in the same general geographic region as SimonK and Wiegert, who are also experiencing the problem.

There's not much I can do as this involves your ISP's network, but if you guys could share your trace route results (instructions on how to do that here) to cache.gtpla.net, it might yield the source of the problem.

OK, sorry for any confusion, but please run that trace route again, this time to cache.gtpla.net (in place of example.com).

OK, much better. :) Were you experiencing the problem when you ran that trace route? Simon, I presume you had similar results?

As it is now with speeds/loading as expected mine is similar yes but I'll run it when things aren't so fast (if it should happen again) and see where the buck stops, so to speak.

I've noticed the problems I had when loading pages were becoming less frequent since Friday. Since Sunday I have no problems at all.

It was a mild annoyance, but I'm glad it's gone nonetheless.
