I've only tried awd on a couple of occasions myself, but I think I'm getting to know the basics of it (good beginner technique imo):
1 - Heavy feint
2 - Immediately apply countersteer and braking if needed to establish angle.
3 - Give it some throttle to spin the wheels
4 - Straighten the wheel and drift while giving it gas.
5 - To control the angle and line:
-- let off the throttle and countersteer slightly to sort of pivot inwards
-- tap the e-brake to widen your line (and get more angle).
-- brake + slight countersteer to tighten the line (and possibly increase angle depending on countersteer applied)
-- more throttle to widen your line without increasing angle (possibly decrease it).
-- countersteer slightly while on throttle to extend your drift (could compromise angle, slight lift-off at this point will get your angle back).
Steps 2-3 need to be done rapidly to avoid spinning if you're on an N2/N1 mix. Feel free to correct me if you need to.. but so far, this is working for me..
Other things to consider:
- entry is a lot more important than in an RWD car.
- Evo 8 MR is hard to drift...
- check the settings depot for tuning tips.. personally, I tend to try setups from drifters I've seen on video first, to judge if their drift methods are similar to mine...
- for me, settings shouldn't be too extreme. Just try to make the car neutral and keep in mind the car's weight balance.. 450-550HP works ok for me, as does a VCD setting of about 30-40. Some AWDs have great stock LSDs, but dual 10/30/10 seems to work ok for starters..
