I've never seen anyone do a burnout with all four wheels. I'm sure its possible with enough power but I would have no idea how to go about doing one. I don't think you could brake torque and I guess you could just pop the clutch. Can someone clear this up for me?

1000+hp skyline gtr's do it all the time. It looks pretty badass. I have option videos that have some in it.

Don't try it in your Subaru Liberty/Legacy RX (GT in the US - the 2.5 litre manual anyway) - all the torque loads up through the clutch and IT slips, not the tyres - even in the wet. Very smelly...

All Legacys in the US come standard with the 2.5 manual, but the GT is the coolest - and probably the one that matches with your car most.

Yeah my first post here...
Anyways my mom has an Audi A8 and it definetly doesn't burn out.. Obviously, but still a fun car to drive.

Ahh - you don't get the 2 litre base model - that's a good thing. Couldn't pull a greasy stick out of a dog's bum.

Edit: Just checking the specs - it's pretty well the same, just missing the power front seat (big deal), power moonroof (personally not a fan of them) or heated seats (not really an issue here!).

Heated seats? I got your heated seats right here! Just eat a burrito and let it rip! Ahh nice and warm. Be cautious if you feel a little 'squishey'...

Heh - a little 'truth to the rumour', as my friends and I refer to the ol' 'follow through'.

We get just one Subaru engine (165 2.5 H4) and two 'specialty' engines (Outback H6; WRX 227 2.0 H4). I wish we got more engines on our Subarus, I'm sure that'd spark up the sales.

I'm surprised it took me so long to find:

I've seen Subarus do burnouts in the snow, probably not intentional, but it's a cool sight. ;)

I'll definitely agree with Hell Patrol on this one. No not about Santa, but about it being harmful.:P

Just doing a close to redline launch in an AWD car is bad for the tranny...so one that smokes the crap out of the tires is going to be even worse.

Heh...looks like some I've done in my WRX. :)

With my WRX, the power more than out-does the terrible tires, so drivetrain punishment is minimal. Sometimes in the dry though, the tires do hook up early, which produces that 'old milk jug' smell from the clutch.

The tranny wont recieve damage if done correctly. The jack*ss's who think they are badass and try to burn out do it improperly and screw up their tranny and clutch...

Ya I mean look at dragsters they burnout before every run

What, are you high?

Do you realize how many clutches and trannys dragsters go through?

No because I know nothing about real drag racing. Street racing isn't real drag racing I don't think.

and no I'm not high...well I don't think I am.

Probably about 1 clutch every 1-2 runs (assuming top fuel), last I remembered. Usually the plates (of which there are about half a dozen) simply fuse together from the heat. :mischievous:

They key, streetracer, is the difference between passenger car power and traction, and dragster power and traction. No tire in the world can handle 7,000 horsepower suddenly torquing the snot out of it, so all of the stress of a burnout goes 'up in smoke', not in the transmission/drivetrain somewhere.

Alt- Have you ever seen the statistics of a Top Fuel Dragster posted on a forum before?

Some of them are just unfrickinbelievable! Stuff like how much fuel they consume, how much it costs per second to run, how many passes the tires last, stuff about what's happening to the motor during a pass, etc.

Yeah, I just watched a History Channel special on drag racing. They had a mock-up of a cylinder and fuel injector. It was transparent so you could see the fuel going in.

They showed in on idle, and it looked like someone spraying a garden hose into the cylinder. Then, they went full throttle...and it looked like a fire hose on full blast! Insane!
