the thread isn't about Cody owning 4 cars or talking about that... I'd dare to say he's balanced the bad luck with the good nicely.

It's about the damn awesome MR2!

Interesting thread title. Almost thought it was a wedding announcement and started wondering why it was here....

I've never really been into these new MR2s. They look like a frog and maybe a bit girly, soft and awkward. I though they were pretty "meh" to drive, but if this car is as good to toss around as a Miata would be, then I'd say nice purchase! It should be pretty quick if you get that Celica engine under there. And with a little body mods, I'm sure you can make it look great. Good luck with it!

May I ask how much you paid for it?

It's bad luck that he ended up in this "good" position. I still wouldn't call him lucky in any good way.

If its anything like the ones he showed me before, my guess is that it surprisingly isn't too much. More than I'd be able to spend, but not much at all...

YSSMAN - Off-topic, but what happened to the Mazda3 situation? Saw you haven't updated your thread in a while.

Black rims?
Pretty general, there.

Son, this is a Toyota. And with Cody being a hardcore Toyota man, I'm sure he's gonna do it big...

Short and sweet:

I'm waiting for my tax check and the sale of Jenna tomorrow (well, today now). Should be able to get the M3iT within two weeks or so, hopefully-ish. It depends on how much cash I can keep in my bank account. Either way, I'll have one by early May, so I'll officially update in the thread.

You were considering an NSX! You should have told me, I could have encouraged it!

Congrats on the MR-S mate, glad you like it. :)

The NSX was far too much to be a reasonable purchase; perhaps once I graduate from college I'll consider it.

As hardcore as I am Keef, those Tom's wheels are not for me :P Thinking maybe some Falken Hanabi's (bronze) as they are light and cheap, or some 5Zigen FN01R-C, again bronze. 16 inches is the largest I'll go, and I'll use the stock rims for some track day tires.

I paid a bit under the blue book value for the car with the mileage it has on it.

You know I love MR2's, and you picked the best color for the 3rd gen as well. Nice job!

Well, the odd numbered generation MR2s are better than the even generation one was. And if he was to do this:

In an SW20, the result would be this:

Nice car, by the way. I always preferred the MRS to the Miata, to be honest. Seems much more usable to me, for reasons you already outlined.

+1 The MR2 is a man's small car, the Miata is a female's small car. :D

The only way the car is less usable than a Miata is in that I don't have a trunk. I can put a whole 2, maybe 3, back packs in the random storage spaces through out the car.

An MR-S was the initial reason why I have my MS3. I went to the Mazda dealer to look at a used '02 in Black. It was gone when I got there so I figured I would give the Speed3 a test drive.

After that I never even drove another car and bought one about 2 months later. I find it funny I was looking at a car with absolutely NO space and went for one with quite a bit. Yet I do believe it serves my intent well.

I did a bunch of research on the MR-S and it was getting to be really hard to find a later MR-S with the aestetic update and overall less problems. Hopefully your '00 will be just fine. Looks great by the way.

^I would have gotten that Dark Green with Tan top with the standard manual transmission if I could choose.

the Miata is a female's small car. :D

I remember an episode of either According to Jim or King of Queens, where Jim/Doug got a Mazda Miata and was all proud, but then he was driving around and noticed that all the others were driven by either women or gay men.

Classic. :D

The Miata is still my pick, I'll take it in BR Green with the tan top/interior, thanks.

It takes a real man to be comfortable with their sexuality and drive a proper sports car...

I have a buddy named Josh. He's big and strong and works out all the time and has all the required masculine facial hair. He likes to drive his Miata with the top down and Journey or some other oddball 80s band blasting on the stereo. It's pretty hilarious.

Its still a girls car.

That's one of the most feminine combinations I could possibly imagine. :P What you all need is a Solstice, that's a manly roadster.

-1 on the Miata deal.

It's an affordable sports car that is extremely fun to drive. I think if a girl owns one, and she's not driving the hell out of it, it's just being wasted IMO.

I tend to think of the MR-S as a woman's car more often than the Miata, but that is probably because my Grandmother was very close to buying one before she decided to get a VW Cabrio instead.

Ladies car or not, the Miata is still a well-crafted sports car that shouldn't be "off limits" because someone is uncomfortable with them thinking you're gay (or whatever). As a matter of fact, thats a sad excuse not to get one.

Either way, the Miata and the MR-S are probably two cars that were at the pinnacle of affordable performance at the time, and personally speaking, are both very appealing to me. Thing is, I just like the Miata more...

Azureman maybe you can help me. Ive been looking into getting a MRS among others (JZ70 Supra, FD/FC, S2K, 98Prelude H22 and ,more). As you can see ive have alot of options. The problem is im 6'2 (six feet) and im not sure how well id fit into a MRS. You own one so what do you think? Am I to tall for comfort?

I fit in it fairly well and I'm 6'4. It is larger than a Miata, but anything over 6'4 and you'd he pushing it. Just note there is almost no storage space. One review called it the perfect second car, and I'd tend to agree.

O ok I see what your saying. Hows your head room with the top up, I mean do your shoulders sit higher than the window seal? It would be great if you had a pic of yourself in the car. The S2000s average used price was only a few grand more from the MRS. But your officially not an average joe anymore when you drive a car with the trunk in the front and the engine in the back lol.

Yeah, like an S2000 or RX-7. Not an MX-5.

Same. Call it a girls car all you want. Just wait until the first corner comes up.
And you will have to wait because that corner isn't coming up very fast, even with a heaps of revs on the gauge...

You do realize that Smallhorses got an MX-5 right? Poor guy.....

👍
A Miata doesn't have to always be a girls car. Put a hardtop on, tune the engine, put some monster body kits and wheels, and you get one ferocious street car. :D

You dont need a body kit on a Miata. People call it a womens car but most people are ignorant when it comes to the real mechanics, physics, and function. There many fast and furious fans on this site that only think about driving in a straight line, or having rediculous amounts of horse power. Power to weight ratio never comes to the mind these experienced seasoned drivers (sarcasm). It being a girl car is someones irrelevant opinion. But it being one of the best handling, street legal road racing cars ever made is a fact. The MRS is the new best thing in my opinion. The mid-engine platform and almost 50-50 balance for under $15k is more than I can ask for. If you dont like these cars your truly not an enthusiast, and I really dont know why you would be in this thread.
