[Introduction]
This 1000Km event means you'll have to overcome over one hundred-sixty non-stop laps of intense, gruelling, demoralising racing action in a single-make, one-class-only event. This isn't like some of the other Bathurst 1000 events you may have already come across on GTPlanet - you won't be jumping in and out of any lobbies here, sharing the duties among a team of four or whatnot. You'll be doing things the B.A.D way - it's just you, the car and the track in a race to end all races...
The Race Lobby will be set to host a race of exactly 161 laps at the legendary Mount Panorama Racing Circuit. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to emerge victorious, as a giant among mere mortals, by taking the chequered flag in this one-off, single race event designed to test what you're made of.
Due to the potential for what would be devastating lag issues, this event is only open to serious sim-racing drivers who reside within the European Union. A strong internet connection is more-or-less essential, as are nerves of steel, the will to win... and a strong bladder.
Won't this be intense though?
Yes
Isn't it risky doing 161 laps in one go?
YES
Is this insane?
Probably...
Will this even work?
Sign up and find out!
Still reading? OK then, onto the specifics...

The Rules
As far as general rules are concerned, all drivers must familiarise themselves with (and abide by)
The GTPlanet Online Racing Rules and Guidelines
Rules Specific to this event:
(Where these Rules and the GTP OLR conflict - these rules supersede those of the GTP OLR as they are Event specific)
All drivers must be present in the Race Lobby at least 30 minutes before the race is due to start (1500 UTC) to allow it to 'settle' so that lag issues are minimised. That way, if any driver does experience some lag during this time, then there is at least some time for them to try and sort things out before the Qualifier starts. All entrants are required to have cleared their cache before entering the Race Lobby, and if any vehicle maintenance is needed (Body Refresh/Engine Rebuild) then this must also be done before entering the Race Lobby so that exit/re-entry is kept to a minimum, again - to allow the room to settle and minimise the chance of lag occurring.
Drivers are required to drive cleanly and fairly, and with respect to all of their fellow competitors, at all times. This includes avoiding contact where possible, and certainly does not include maliciously and intentionally having an adverse affect on others' races. If contact is made between two or more drivers which results in one or more drivers spinning out or leaving the track then the instigator of the incident must wait for those drivers to (safely) rejoin the track, allow them to pass before being allowed to pass them again.
For instance - A knocks B & C off track. B manages to escape being damaged but C has engine damage. A must now wait for both B & C to rejoin the track and allow them both to pass him. B is able to continue at race pace but as C is damaged, he is going a lot slower because he realises that attempting to go at race pace is dangerous and could adversely affect somebody else's race. A, having caused the incident, has waited for both cars to rejoin safely and has also allowed them both to pass. A may now pass the slow driving C and continue the race as normal. (Bad luck C, but that's how it goes sometimes).
This concept of clean racing and respect extends to the track and its limits - two wheels must remain inside (not ON) the two white lines at all times: corner cutting is not permitted during this event.
The images below clarify this point for those who are unsure:
Clean (Permitted) / Dirty (Prohibited)
Text chat is to be kept to a minimum once the race is underway. Please refrain from sharing with other competitors your bad luck or frustrations during the race. This can be a distraction.
Certainly can no abusive, profane, disrespectful or insulting language be used whilst in the Race Lobby by anyone - ever. If you are involved in an incident and rage-quit then, due to a bug, you will not be able to rejoin the lobby to send abusive texts so please, do not circumvent this by sending abusive messages using the XMB messenger instead.
In the case of connection issues leading up to the race, if all drivers agree then a new Race Lobby will be opened to allow those experiencing connection problems to try to rejoin and fix the issues.
In the case of disconnections during the race, the race can be restarted. But only ONCE and only if the disconnection happens within the first 10 minutes of the race start. In this case, the race will be restarted: drivers will be asked to exit the track and then re-enter to line up in their qualifying order on the straight leading up to Turn 2 (so please remember your grid position from the quali session). Once the order has been established, the race can be restarted and will continue as normal.
If a driver experiences connection issues during the quali then they may rejoin the lobby and start from the back of the grid: again, drivers will be asked to exit the track to allow for the driver(s) to join the restart, and then should line up in grid order along the straight leading up to Turn 2 (so please remember your grid position from the quali session). The rejoining driver(s) will take their place at the back of the grid during this process and then the race can be restarted.

[FAQ]
Can I use any power upgrades on my car?
No. Power upgrades are prohibited but vehicle tuning (aero, suspension etc) IS permitted.
Can I use any of the other F1 GTR Race Car models for this event?
No - Base Model '95 only
What if I lag out half way through the race?
It will be treated as a mechanical failure (like IRL) and a large amount of sympathy will be headed your way, friend.
Can I use the same colour and number combo as somebody else?
Sure.
Is this an individual event or a team event?
Individual. But it's OK to drive with the same colour/number as a friend provided team tactics aren't employed to negatively impact another's race.
I'm not sure that my connection is stable enough, what should I do?
Head on over to SPEEDTEST.NET, take the test, and post your results here on the forum using the 'share' option. If your result is lower than a 'C', then it's best to skip this particular event and head on over to the B.A.D RDC Hub Page to find out about upcoming events at Bathurst.
Will there be a prize for winning such a daunting event?
Yes. The confirmed winner will receive a PSN voucher code to the value of fifteen Pounds or Euros, depending on their location.
Will there be any prizes for podium finishers?
As there can be just one winner, there is just one prize so no - no prizes as such. However, commemorative trophies will be awarded to each of the podium finishers and participation medals will also be given to all who enter.
How do I know that the people I will be racing with are good, clean drivers?
Unless I, the host (BAD_aboe/aboe_83), have raced with an entrant recently (in another series, perhaps) to confirm their competence, all drivers must have taken part in at least ONE B.A.D Event prior to taking part in the European Bathurst 1000.
Details of the next B.A.D Event can be found on the hub page, a link to which can be found in the Links section.

Hints, Tips and Advice:
Before the race, it is recommended that you have a large bottle of water or perhaps some other isotonic fluid nearby so that you can keep yourself hydrated during proceedings. The race is expected to last in the region of around 5-and-a-half hours so it will be important to stay fresh throughout in order to avoid fatigue setting in. You might also want to have some jelly sweets or other similar glucose-rich simple-carbohydrates within reach to aid with concentration. Bananas are always a good option as well. Remember, though, if you are to consume fluids and/or food during the race, you must do so in a safe manner - one which will allow you to drive safely without jeopardising others.
Get plenty of practise in before the race. There will be several 'official' practise sessions leading up to the event but you can - and perhaps should - get plenty of practise in on your own time as well. If everybody takes this event just seriously enough by putting in the practise to ensure that they are comfortable with the car then the potential for race incidents is at least minimised. Also, you'll most likely be up against some stiff competition, so practising also ensures you put yourself in a good position to do well in the race. Measure twice, cut once
It's not all about the winning. If you are thinking of entering this event just to win it then it is recommended that you have a rethink and perhaps even reconsider your entry submission. As mentioned above - the race is a long one, and there will no doubt be numerous mistakes and incidents throughout which may even destroy your chances of getting the race-winning result you desire. But if this happens and you no longer wish to participate because your chances of winning the event have been diminished, then you are more likely to rage-quit. This is actually quite a selfish thing to do, as someone who - lag issues aside - would be prepared to make it to the chequered flag irrespective of the result would have been denied the chance to participate. Please, if winning is the ONLY reason you want to take part in this event, have a rethink and at least attempt to put yourself in a state of mind which instead encourages the enjoyment of the event - the journey - and not just the result.
Events like this don't come around all too frequently, so bear this in mind and try to enjoy it.
Make sure you have added the Race Lobby host - BAD_aboe - BEFORE race day. On too many occasions have GT6 gamers left this quite fundamental action to the last minute - usually after the race lobby has been created - and found that they are unable to join due to what is, admittedly, an unwelcome bug in the game. If any drivers are unable to join the Race Lobby because they have delayed the adding of the race host to a point in time AFTER it has been opened, the lobby will not be re-opened. Don't waste the hours of practise you will have put into this event by being a numpty - if you are confirmed as an entrant then add the lobby host - BAD_aboe - today.
Even better, though - add him yesterday.
