B-Spec... Completely trash and unbeneficial.

The prizes money in Bspec is crap compared with A spec eg Grand Valley endurance race, Bspec you get about 53,500 and a prize car you can't sell in Aspec you get a better but still paltry 193,000.

The failure to have fast forward is its biggest failure, oh yes please make it take longer, I don't want to do it quicker so I can fit in more races to make up for the paltry rewards, yeah I want it to take longer than what it could and than what it did in GT4, this is just such a basic Goddamn failure

I am curious if any one actually enjoys B-Spec, and I don't mean thinks it's worth doing and likes the cr and cars you get, but actually enjoys the process of pressing some buttons while a long race is shown to you.

I really don't get the point behind people grinding and using B-Spec to progress in the game. I do a job I don't really enjoy for 8 hours of my day to have the money to pay for my PS3, TV and game etc.. because they are fun. To then have to do things in that game that aren't fun for access to things that are is just masochistic.

To be honest it doesn't bother me that I can't 'complete' the game because I won't do B-Spec, I won't even miss some of the cars you get from it. It just strike me as a shame that the developers put time into it (and other things) when A-Spec wasn't the best game they could possibly make.

Could not agree more, even though I've done b-spec, it's normally while I need to go do something else...

The good thing is that B-Spec is optional (unless you want to get 100% completion) It doesn't force you to do B-Spec if you don't want. Never liked it in GT4 and I don't like it in GT5. Tried the World Classic Car championship on Cote d'Azur with my Stratos and the moron just kept hitting the barriers :grumpy: even though the Stratos should easily dominate the field. Eventually, had to give him my 512BB so he could win against cars with 3 times less hp.
Problem is, there is very rarely a middle ground which makes for good competitive racing in B-Spec. Either you dominate the field by 20 seconds or you struggle at the back of the pack. No happy medium. On the other hand, I had a great battle in the 80's Japanese championship on A-Spec with my Sprinter GT Apex, it was anybody's race right up until the end.

Sure, you get good car prizes but you can also just buy those cars from either the UCD or the NCD. This way, I don't have to play B-Spec and don't have to wait until I'm on lv. 25 just to win an Amuse Nismo 380RS or a McLaren MP4-12C. Ok, I'll have to fork out for them but so what? In the later races you win good money and will save up enough money in no time.

I like B-Spec.
I like to raise my drivers, I like to make easy money and I like to watch some races as well.
Without B-Spec, I should've copy my save game in hundreds of USB Drives, or born again a dozen of times around December 2010.

Fact is, you should wait for your Driver to hit level 20-25 to have some nice overtaking and braking capabilities.
But in the meantime, you get some cash and some nice prize cars.
I'm cool with that.

I agree, level up your drivers before attempting more difficult races. I have also heard talk of Bob's becoming "Specialist's" if they drive only 1 type of car but I have had all of my drivers driving all sorts of vehicles, so I can't really comment on that.
Nice cars to be had like Zonda R, Toyota Seven, S2000 GTI and more. Plus a chance to win a real AMG SLS is just too good to pass up.....

Its nice for when you don't want to full on race, like when you're on the phone or something.

I do that all the time.

I used to think it was stupid, but now I actually kinda like it.

And you do get insanely good prize cars in the higher levels.

+1 👍 :dopey:

Free Furai at Amateur level which was still winning me races at Extreme level? Free 427 Cobra at Amateur level which was still winning me races at Expert level?

That was pretty beneficial to me.

Free cash when it's racing in the background while I'm not home or sleeping or whatever? That's pretty beneficial as well.

Not saying it's fun or was worth spending ANY development & programming time on, but it IS beneficial.

My Driver is level 1 right now and I gave him the Newer Honda Civic Type-R With level one upgrades only. Its certainly NOT over powered. My Driver is just an idiot. His personality is dead center between cool and hot.

I know there are ways around the problem, but it shouldn't be this bad to begin with. And yeah what the heck is up with my driver only being able to use basic tyres? This is a race, not a drive to the mall. Lol
I used the '97 version (197 bhp) and my driver's personality is also dead centre. He won by a long way in the Sunday cup and could have easily won in a slower car.

How fast is the new Civic Type-R because I reckon anything over 130 bhp will win those events quite easily (with your driver anyway). If you aren't winning it's your tactics that aren't working. Not 'stupid Bob'!

I agree with the OP about B-Spec being a chore - I'm doing it merely for the cars, cred, and "sake of completeness". However, my driver is actually pretty good about acting on his own. I started B-Spec in earnest this morning. As of now, my guy is at level 13. Only had a problem with him being stupid/timid for the first couple races. Since then, I'm able to walk away, and come back when the race is over. Of course, it helps that I'm putting him in cars that are vastly more powerful than the opposition. :dopey:

Eh, Bob has earned me over 10 million credits, and I've been watching Top Gear the entire time he's done it.

Bob's a pro, don't mess with Bob.

Im on my 5th 9 hour endurance race to try and get to lv 35 .

Which is the only complaint i have with B spec is repeating so many times .

My poor FGT is worn out .:)

bob is hype, at the beginning sometimes he could act like a complete idiot, but you would regret ever thinking something like that down the road.

If for nothing else, at level 35 B-spec you get the ultimate car, the Red bull X1 2010.
I dare you to say that it's not worth the effort.

...it's not worth the effort.

I suspect in terms of cost for power used it would be better to just buy Wipeout HD :)

I have one of my Bob's do the 9 hour race last night and before i went to work i enlisted another bob for another 9 hour .

Hopefully should be getting the Red Bull in a day or so .

I enjoy B-Spec, in fact, I went through a week where I played B-Spec about 80% of the time. People are complaining that you can just give them a powerful car and win races. Well that pretty much sums up GT anyway... win money, buy car, add all upgrades, win money, buy car etc...

A-Spec is so flawed when it comes to the AI, that I see no problem playing part of the game, where you are at least on an even footing with the AI. At least you know your car is as invincible and immovable as the other cars on the track.

I don't have a problem with using them to grind money, simply because I DO have a problem with having to do that myself to progress through the game. I played A-Spec for ages, earned 3,500,000 credits to buy a race car. The one I bought turned out to be a duff car (well maybe not duff, but worthless against the opposition), and I couldn't sell it to make any money back. I don't want to race the same races, over and over and over again, against the same invincible AI, just to earn money... so I'd rather my B-Spec drivers do it.

And then of course, there are some great races to be had... I'm personally glad it's in there... otherwise GT5 would have been more disappointing than it already is.

Maybe it's because I'm still in the lower levels of B-spec(Amature) at the time but Bob can't win with the same level of tune I can. Some of these races I could care less about the car I have to drive to complete it in A-spec so I spend as little as I have to on the car to win. Well this tune usually isn't enough for Bob so I have to spend more money than he wins just to get the car to a level he can win in. What a waste. Now I will admit he has earned me some cr. when he can use a car I actually like and have bought parts for. I still don't care for it all that much. I just keep suffering though it to get the prize cars.

I like B spec. Great for getting cars & $$$ to buy more cars. What is not to like for doing nothing. Bob drives and I sleep.

I couldn't agree more with you... I've won a lot of cars in B-Spec that I needed for A-Spec races, in addition to a lot of credits I used to purchase and modify many cars. Additionally, B-Spec allows me to progress in the game, while I run errands and take care of other things around the house.

I admit it, I dig B-spec. I used B-spec in GT4, and I was pretty so-so about it. The new B-spec is a good deal better, and I can honestly say I've had some INCREDIBLE races with it. When it's done right, it's very strategic, and very satisfying to grab a few extra places in a championship race by way of the B-spec commands.

I had a race just this evening, 8 laps at Grand Valley, where the first 7 laps were intense strategy, managing both my tire wear and driver's strength. In the final lap, B-spec Bob made an insane charge through the field (their tires were going bad, mine were still ok), coming from 12th place to take the win. My girlfriend doesn't even like B-spec, but she was practically jumping out of her seat as the strategy came together one step at a time.

In GT4, B-spec followed a simple routine -- give the driver a superior car, go and do something else until the race is over, collect your cash. In GT5, race management is often critical, and I've had many, many races where race management was a big part of the win.

Yeah, sometimes Bob makes you want to throw a brick at the TV, but I've also seen some clever moves by Bob. (more bricks than clever stuff, though)

B-spec isn't for everybody, and that's cool, too. For me, it's a nice option when I want to release my death-grip on the controller, and I have a lot of fun with it. :)
