B-spec Scripting: Settings for Collecting 0 to 7375 Points (110,000 Cr. Test)

Title Post

The idea behind this thread is that B-spec races can be scripted. If all factors are controlled, you should be able to win the specified races using the same car and settings, and the race will be identical - an instant replay. This Test Script is designed for experienced players. Very little detail is provided on how to change the settings, you'll need to figure this out on your own.

Script: Requirements
  • GT3 Save for Importing 100,000 Credits
  • GT4 Save on 2nd Memory Card for Trading a Ginetta G4 '64
  • Or, use A-spec to earn the required credits and vehicle.
  • B-spec Points = 0/0/0/0

Description of B-spec Points

Strategies for Collection B-spec Points

Placeholder

Scripting Note: Overtake is always on. The idea is that all variables are set before the race begins. Check the Settings, start the race in B-spec Mode, (turn on Overtake,) and set the pace. The results will be the same if the race is run at normal or 3x speed; time estimates are based on the 3x setting.

There are different scripts for each vehicle variation. They don't mix until the collection is complete. The script for the Clio 361 came up a bit sort on points and is incomplete. Choose either Set A - Clio 387 script, or Set B - Clio 375 script. Or, feel free to complete the Clio 361 script since the plan is to run the Championship 4 times anyway to earn credits for C-1 thru D-2. I fudged the Credits so the numbers would work out in the spreadsheet. It would be a good idea to examine the method carefully; this section is a bit confusing.

That's incredible work there Orion, and congratulations on achieving your goal. I've been watching this eagerly, and your method looks awesome too. Less than 100 days to get those B-Spec levels is tempting to do now, on 1 MC atleast. :)

Mafs!!

Nicely done! I just hit 7375 a couple days ago with the old 'ring method, but it took a great deal more uncertainty, experimentation, resources, and losses. I certainly appreciate the work you (and others) did to organize the information for that walkthrough also, but it seems like you're well on the way to a better repeatable method. 👍

This will definitely help me a lot, but I'm confused about what "Mods A, B, C, etc." mean.

Thanks though, this looks very helpful. I don't know if you saw my other question in the other thread, but are you planning on scripting all the way to 10000?

Yeah, sorry. This draft is still a bit rough and short on details. The Mods A, etc. are the settings that must be used in order to get the exact same race with the same time and points. For the most part, there is a core vehicle that doesn't change, but then there are a handful of parts used as variables that can be changed in order to produce a good point scoring race. The B-1 Crossfire collection was my 1st attempt to script a sub-class, and I used quite a few different parts to arrange for very close races. Since then I'm made an attempt to limit the variables to just 2 or 3.

And as far as scripting the rest of the 10000 points, maybe. I'm working on a 10000 Credit new game variation to 7375, then I'll take a look at some of the other events. I'm not sure if the events will lead to all 10000 points or not, but I'd like to see how close I can get.

Ok, cool. I'm just confused a bit. For example, for A1, it says carbon driveshaft for set A, even though you already specified that in the settings. What does this mean?

It means I had problems following my own notes unless I listed each variable in the chart. The Core parts are set in the beginning, but once a part becomes a variable it should always be listed in the Mods section for the race. The A-1 section is a good example of this. The Carbon Shaft became a variable when it wasn't used on the second race, so it is always listed as present, or not, for each race. The only other variable is the ballast weight and balance. If it's not listed then the Weight is 0 at 0. When you view your Settings Tab to verify the configuration, it should be easy to recognize which parts should be used and how they are set.

Hey I was going to give the cars a wash (I have enough money), but did you ever notice if it affected the results of any races? I don't want to try if it might screw it up.
Just did the first Spitfire race, got different results. I had it on set A, pace 4, and overtake on. I'm still confused a bit. What am I supposed to do when I see those mods? I kept the carbon driveshaft on, was I supposed to take it off?

Just so I can be absolutely sure of what's going on, what should the settings be for the first Triumph race? You said that carbon driveshaft is a variable, and that you didn't use it in the second race, but both have the same details listed (set A, carbon driveshaft) If I leave the driveshaft, it's still the same as set A. If I remove it, you could have just said set B. Please help me, I think a lot of this needs to be clarified before this becomes really useful.

Maybe it will help to completely ignore the Setting Tabs, and just go by the Mods. Day 4 and 5 races the Carbon Shaft is on. Day 6 and 7 have it off. Day 8, 9, and 10, the Carbon Shaft is on; Day 11 it's off again. If you can follow the Tab formula then you won't need to make quite as many adjustments; but it's still a good idea to check each variable before the race. For this Triumph series, you only need to check the Carbon Shaft and Ballast Weight. I'm hoping to make this process a little easier follow. Sorry about the confusion.

I will try that, but do I still use S1 tires, NA1, and chip?
Because I couldn't duplicate your results for day 4. My MOV was about 11 seconds, which doesn't match up with any of your results.

Yes, the S1 Tires, NA1, and Racing Chip get the vehicle up to the most "potential" for that subclass. I've noticed that vehicles tend to earn floating points quicker if they are as powerful as can be without tipping over into the next higher subclass. Also, I generally get better results using the hardest tires that can win the race. Harder tires allows me to work with more horsepower, which also helps wins the race. So for the Triumph the NA1 and Racing Chip combination set maximum the horsepower for 0 Ballast, and 0 downforce, for S1 tires with the Triumph's normal weight. I could probably squeeze a little more potential by installing one more power upgrade and carrying a little more ballast, but I had enough with this setup at this point need to keep things cheap.

Triumph Core (always the same): 91HP (=NA1 and Racing Chip), S1 Tires
* There is No Wing.
* Ballast is only used to tweak the race results a little.

The only modifiers are the Carbon Shaft, and Ballast Weight and Balance.

The Carbon Shaft is listed if used for that race, otherwise it should not be equipped.

The Weight is usually 0 with a front/rear Balance of 0 (Weight 0 0). This is not listed.
Sometimes when I've got things almost right I can alter the passing or handling of the vehicle just a little so he wins instead of looses by adjusting the Ballast Weight.

Another way to explain: Install all the parts. Run the race twice. Then remove the carbon shaft for the next two races. Put it back on and also check the weight for the next 4 races, and the carbon shaft is off again on the last race. If overtake is always on and the pace is set correctly, you should be able to match race times.

However, this method is still relatively untested. If you have the North American version then I'm fairly certain our results will match once the procedure is worked out correctly. If you using another version there is the possibility that there may be slight differences in the vehicles or game that would alter the results. I am hoping that the one-make races are most likely to be the same for many versions, and trying my best to stay away from the Japanese vehicles which tend to vary the most from version to version. Check the power to weight ratio (PWR) listed for the Spitfire after it's been tuned. If it isn't 8.933 then we might have a problem.

It is 8.933, however even with the Sports Chip, NA1, S1 Tires, and Carbon driveshaft, I'm getting 11 second MOVs. I don't know what the problem could be.

Thanks for trying this out. I'm not sure what the problem is either. I'll try to list all the factors I can think of. Perhaps you'll be able to identify the difference:
  • Triumph Spitfire has Horsepower of 91.
  • Power to Weight Ratio is 8.933.
  • The B-spec driver is starting with 0/0/0/0.
  • The Pace is set, and Overtake is on, before the race begins. Nothing is changed during the race.
  • I am using the North American Version - original release
  • Weight and Balance is 0 0 for the 1st race
  • Race is held at the Triumph One-make Race, El Capitan
When I was checking on the procedure described by the Japanese Author, one of the 1st things I noticed was that the power to weight ratio didn't match on some of the vehicles. The other thing I noticed was the line-ups were different, which is why I try to stick with One-make Races whenever possible.

I'll be really disappointed if the Triumph Spitfire doesn't match between versions. It's difficult to find good vehicles with races on generous track to use for this method in the A subclasses. But judging by your profile I suspect we are using the same version... So I'm really confused why our results don't match.

Running a few tests:

Pace = Push (5), 11.576 MOV, Time 5'09.414

Should be:

Pace = Fast (4), 6.854 MOV, Time 5'13.594

Is that it? If you post your exact time and MOV then I'll know if I stumble across the settings you are using.

When I set to pace = 4, I get what you have written for pace = 5. I've tried it twice with the same result.

When I set to pace = 4, I get what you have written for pace = 5. I've tried it twice with the same result.

Well, that's strange. What happens when you use Pace 3 - Steady? And if that works, I suppose you'll get into trouble on the last Spitfire race when you won't be able to set a sub-slow pace. Has there been a re-release of the game? IIRC correctly, I got mine the day is was released.

I suppose the other factor I haven't considered is A-spec level. My results are all from an A-spec = 0 game.

So are mine. My save is the same as yours but with more money. I will try pace 3 soon enough, but I should also mention that I am running on the PS3 right now. I doubt that could change the programming of the game however, but I thought I'd mention it. It is very strange though. I'm also wondering if running pace 3 will give the same points as pace 4 does for you.

Well, I'm a little worried that no one has been able to verify these results. The success of the Crossfire experiment led me to believe we could duplicate race scores and points if we controlled all of the appropriate factors. My experiments continue to go quite well. I've been able to transpose different sub-class collections in different sequences and for the most part I get identical results.

I've got a good outline for a 10,000 Credit game start that leads from B-spec 0/0/0/0 to 7375/100/73/73 and $2,757,597 Credits in 96 days (~25 days used to buy, win, or sell cars, tires, or wings). I'll post the A-1 collection here in the hopes that someone will be able to verify that this section can be repeated. In order to get started I need to rely on the Save and Reset strategy for fixing the Restart Lineup. I'm still a little worried about the variables that might influence the lineup, but if the game starts at 10,000 Credits with 0 A-spec and 0 B-spec points, I suspect the results should be repeatable - at least on the North American version. I strongly suspect that the lineups for the 1st few events will be different on the Japanese version. I'm trying to stay away from Japanese events, but this is the best game start I can find for the version I am using.

Race Notes: This race will be repeated 5 times in order to earn the credits required to buy a car that can enter a track that will provide the A-1 points that are not available in the K-Car races. Retry the race each time to retain the Restart Lineup. The Weight Balance is the same for the first 2 races, and changes before the 3rd race to the setting used for races 3, 4, and 5.

Restart Lineup for Suzuki K-Car Cup should be:

Day 8: Buy some nice looking wheels for 500 Cr. Credits=24848.

Notes on Choices: I don't think it matters which wheels, wings, or colors are selected. For this collection, I'm going with a white vehicle theme, and installing the yellow Yokohama 024 wheels as Team Wheels for every vehicle which provides a choice. For the Clio I prefer the 3D Type BW Wing, no other wings are installed. Also, I don't think it matters if the car is clean (new), washed, or dirty.

Change the Weight back to 1 at -44
Save and Reset to fix the Restart Lineup

* Restart Lineup should be the same as listed for the Beginner Course on Day 2

The next step is to fix up the Triumph Spitfire to finish off the A-1 points, but I'm too tired tonight so I'll work on this some more tomorrow. The credits balance dips to 398 after the Triumph is fully tuned, but gets as lows as 228 after buying all the parts for the Clio. Still, there's just enough to buy custom wheels for each car, and there isn't a need to skimp on oil or car washes.

Why do you buy rims? So you can pick your car out in replays against identical competitors? I suppose it also uses up a day, helping to unlock tracks faster.

Are you reasonably sure the day used, and/or the purchase itself, will not affect what lineups will appear?
