Don't be mad at me my fellow GT lovers, but for 19.99 Shift 2 is extremely insane. The sound alone makes me speechless. The driving physics are remarkable.(V10 in a E46 M3, try to keep that on the track in real life) Deep dish rims are present, Yay!!! Cars look really good. AI is mean and challenging. I honestly get scared at 175mph. Damage is awesome. I could go on and on, but I just wanted to see if anyone is still playing it. I am in love.

Don't start dissing this thread, I know this is a GT5 forum. I also know GT5 isn't the only game that has been talked about on this forum either(ex. Battlefield 3, MW3)

I've wondered if that game was any good at all.
But, since it is an EA Sports title, I won't be buying it.

It's an ok game, way too arcady though, but I hate the steering motions in it, like in nfs most wanted. Granted most wanted is a good game, but steering like that shouldn't be in shift 2.

Yeah, in the general gaming forum. I haven't seen any BF3 or MW3 threads in the GT5 section, so I would guess this will be moved by a moderator.

I'm going to get Shift 2 on PC when there's a typically ludicrous Steam sale, but I won't pay over £5 for it. That sounds very tight but I would guess that it'll reach £5 by the end of the year... However long it is, though, I'll wait.

To my opinion, the sound is VERY BAD in Shift 1 and 2. Physics are broken too. Running at 20fps in some ocassions doesn't let you enjoy the overall great car designs.

Sorry, but although for 19.99 it is a bargain, you should've tried games like Dirt which are far better games than this EA disposable money maker.

But so I don't sound too negative, I'll talk possitive things about NFS. NFS Underground 2 for PS2 was a good game. Had better physics (according to the type of game) sounds were far superior than in Shift, and more realistic, and it was a heaven for people who like tunning. NFS Carbon was nice too, but the sounds were a bit broken. NFS Undercover was a fairly enjoyable game too, if you avoided to update the game which ruins it.

But Shift? I have both and no... They look nice paused and with volume at 0.

Shift 2 = played and finished in 2 weeks after release, sold it.
Shift 1 = didn't even bother try it more then a couple races, sold shortly after.

Pretty much what I think about the Shift series. 🤬

The ONLY aspect I like about SHIFT, is the feeling of speed you have, it's kind of cool I have be honest, but either then that I hate the game..

I have to say I was really tempted by shift 2, mainly because of the glorious amount of interesting track, old and new. Eventually I got around to installing in on pc, and within 30mins I couldn't have been more glad to wipe ever trace of it off my hdd.

The driving physics with a DFGT were horrific, not sim, not arcade, just a mess. I thought I might keep it just to play with a 360 pad, but it was so unfulfilling.

In the end, disappointed that the tracks are there, they look nice but I just can't enjoy them.

Ok 2 problems with the thread and I am not dissing Shift.

1. There is a shift thread 💡
2. Wrong section.

Have tried both. Although being nice as projects, they have many flaws as finished products. Over the top aggressive AI, magnetic-collisions and the worst of all, TERRIBLE CONTROL LAG! In a racer this last flaw is unacceptable. Not to mention about the big problems in performance with the first Shift which existed for at least 3-5 months until the second patch...

I don't think Shift 2 is as bad as most people think it is. It has plenty of things that I wish GT5 had, like the customization, deep carrer mode, and better AI.

👍 That game is much much more exciting that GT5 it must be said and is just as realistic in certain respects.

Exactly I thought I was the only one. A friend of mine came over last night. Keep in mind that he races in real life and he is a huge GT5 fan. He asked me "Is this GT5?" I said "no its shift 2" he asked to play and i never got the controller back. He said it feels so real. He was bugging out on how they were able to capture so many sounds. I told him watch the physics video. He has been calling me all morning to come play. His car blew a head gasket so he is without his passion for a while. He stated "that game is my fix i need a ps3" He even built himself his own corolla with custom vinyls so he has his own personal car for when he comes over.

I would also like to add that the average rating for GT5, Forza 4, and Shift 2 was an 8.

Only things I liked about shift 2 was the cars that it had and some of the tracks that it had. Other than that I didn't care for the game at all, I still thought GT5 was better.

It may have those things but it really doesn't matter when the core element of the game, the driving physics, are AWFUL.

^ This. Sure it has cool cars, tracks and customization options that GT could only dream of, but what good it if what makes a driving game enjoyable is not there? It's like a shooter without a trigger button.

Shift like any other NFS makes me feel good when I'm in the menu painting my car or customizing it for a while. When I'm finish I'm like, "Oh no. Now I have to play... screw it." And I pop out the disc and play something else...

Gotta agree with this. Then GT5 is just the opposite. I'm racing and I decide to go customize my car, then five minutes later I'm done because there isn't much customizing to do. So I just race online and be thankful for the great physics and online community that GT5 has.

go for it fella , its your 19.99 so use it and enjoy it however you see fit . nfs is not for me personally but ............ what the hell you please yourself and have fun ( thats why we all use switch on the ps3 after all ! isn't it ?) ;-)

I was thinking of getting it especially at that price but as fas I know SHIFT2 doesn't support the wheel I'm using- the T500RS. I can pull my old G25 back out of the closet but that's just too much work considering how I felt about the first SHIFT. Anyone knows if EA finally patched SHIFT2 to make it work with the T500RS?

I dont think so. As far as i know pCARS Supports TS500RS.
The Game is created by SMS, but beliefe me the physics is much better than Shift 2 physics.

The Game is still in Development, but offers every week New Builds for Publisher. The Community is the Publisher.

The Game offers now.... (Build whatever^^ dont know the number Sry :P)

For example
- 64 Cars in Track
- Good realistic physics
- Great Damage Model
- Livery Editor
- Good AI
- few Cars
- few Tracks
- Great Sound
- best graphics ever in a Racing Game

As i said the Game has a Long way to go and will be Out in 2013 (retail) for PS3,360,Wii U, PC. Could change...

To Play the Build you Need a Computer. Here is a Thread in gtplanet about the Game.
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=214037

The picture are actual ingame footage, because the Game has no photomode like gt, Forza....

The Page is www.wmdportal.com/

This Game could be a Option if you want a Racegame beside GT :)

A trailer will prove my opinion of actually playing the game wrong? 👎

It will prove that people who hate shift do not know how to drive powerful cars. Its called throttle moderation. Just because your gas pedal can go all the way does not mean you need to floor it all the time. GT5, even with all assist off, feels more arcade. Senior citizens can buy GT5 and enjoy it because its easy. No sense of speed means bad physics. GT5 "the car collecting simulator" jay leno edition. I still love gt5 tho

So what you're saying is experienced sim racers don't know how to drive, all other racing sims are too easy and Shift is the only game to truly simulate how hard it is to drive fast cars?

Yeah, good luck with that.

T500 is not supported in Shift 2. But it works, but utilise gamepad emulation, steering is set to 270 degrees, yeha u can play but its very difficult to get any car control, + FFB is not working.

Shift is Not a SIM and the Developer doesnt want to make a SIM with shift 2.

Shift is a "Action Racer" According to Shift Developer.

Fantasy (ModNation,...) -> Arcade (Burnout,..) -> Action (Shift) -> "Real" (GT,Forza) -> SIM (pCARS, rFactor,...)

If you heard the Porsche on board during the Daytona 24 Hour, it sounded spot on.

Just that sound is on other cars too. At least in the Shift 1 demo.
