Balancing Spring Rates With Damper Settings

I feel like I've really been benefiting from the recent LSD discussions, just hearing about different approaches to setting up cars with different values, etc., and this is another area of tuning where I really feel that I could benefit from hearing what other tuners have to say. What I'm looking for here is some kind of outline based on certain starting parameters. For example, some questions I might have would be:

As a starting point, what spring rates do you tend to use at different weight values? And how do you balance ext/com settings for those? I.e. at 900kg you'd use what general spring rate starting point, and balance it with what values for ext/com?

And I'd also like to know basically the same thing as it applies to different drivetrains FF, FR, MR, 4WD, etc.?

And lastly, do you have any general rules you go buy as far as if spring rate is "x" then ext/com values are generally around "x" amount relating to those rates?

I'd appreciate any discussion on this subject.

cheers

There's no rule of thumb on this one. It depends if the one car you tune have a low or high ride.

Sometimes 16kg spring is good, sometimes 2kg springs is good.

There is a method to know at more or less 100g what to use but I won't speak about that before the first tuning competition. :P
