I suspect the producer (Sean Kelly) of GT1 was a big fan of British rock given Ash, Feeder, Cubanate, Chemical Brothers and Manics are all British and Garbage has a Scottish-born singer. According to Jason Page on Twitter when I asked him, Sean picked the songs for the game before Jason composed the whole thing in 2 weeks so he knew how to style the International versions.
