Been a while since I posted in the Gran Turismo Section of this site. Anyway, I think I may have stumbled across evidence for BMP in GT6. A few days ago, I was looking around google maps, and was hovering over BMP. I soon noticed that there were multiple cars with camera/radar mounts circling the track like we saw when PD went to Barthurst. Now whether they are PD or whether they are even there for that purpose or not, I'm not sure, so take this post with a grain of salt. Therefore, any input on what this might be would be helpful (Pics below)

Well, we can't be sure that it is PD on the above images... It's very likely, though :D.

If this is real then this is incredibly good news.

I've always loved Barber. And this could be an intro for Daytona Prototypes or others. But even if it isn't, I don't care because I'll be too happy about having this track in the game.

That looks like a camera car for filming a tv commercial. That same kind of camera car was used in the filming of the GT Academy show(s).

Then why are they just aimlessly driving around the track, with nothing in front of the camera? Maybe they're filming a commercial but it doesn't seem likely. Although none of us really know anything right now.

How do you know what they're doing? Plus GMaps aren't updated that often, this imagery could be several years old although I know nothing about the track to date it. However take a look at gmaps for Spa to see what I mean.

I have no idea what they're doing, no doubt. It could easily be nothing, I'll admit. And yes, GMaps are updated on rare occasion, the view of where I live is years old.

Everything is just pure speculation right now.

Images of my home doesn't even exist, because it's newer (less than 1 year). Though, if you look at the right bottom corner, on the 3rd picture, it says "Imagery ©2013 Google". I'm pretty sure, that means the pictures taken inside the last 4 months. I think you can find the exact date in Google Earth.

You wander around aimlessly when you make commercials...

And one of the photos has another car close to the camera car. I would assume that's the car they are filming.

What you are seeing is something similar to this:

Watching Indycar at Barber right now, what a beautiful track. Would be a nice addition to GT6. Also Herman Tilke could learn a thing or two from it, there are even trees and grass next to the track and there is a nice combination of corners and elevation changes. The track summarizes what I miss in modern F1 circuits.

Lol!! Turbo already told you guys what it is, camera car most likely filming some commercial. No scanning crew, no sim crew, just a filming crew filming a good old tv or Youtube commercial.

And we're 100% sure this is what it is because... He says so?

I would really love for Barber to be in GT6, being that it's near my home in Birmingham. Heh...awesome.

Because I know what a camera car looks like and that's exactly what it is? :dunce:

Don't you call me a dunce.

Explain this. How would a camera car for filming a commercial and a camera car for scanning a track look any different?

They both have a camera on the end of a boom. You act like you know all exactly what this is, but you don't.

I'm not suggesting it has ANYTHING to do with GT, and it probably doesn't.

But you're making claims without any actual proof, which is pretty pointless.

I know what a camera car looks like too! Whoopee!!! And guess what! I also know what the cars used to scan the tracks look like!

Wanna know the really crazy thing?

They look the same!!!

Wait, so tracks are scanned by photograph and not by laser? For all this time I thought it was the opposite

iRacing and PD take different approaches to how they scan the track.

iRacing laser scans the track, that I know.

I remember watching a show on GTTV back on GT5:Prologue, which said that photographers and cameras take tons and tons of pictures I believe.

So what exactly was your point with those videos?

Plus, if you look up pictures of "PD scanning," it has pictures of a camera in a truck.

Taking pictures and scanning are 2 very different things. I never said they used the same method, you are the only one here trying to make a huge deal out of nothing!
PD use GPS data, they basically strap a backpack on and walk the track camera in hand. The images on the OP clearly show a camera car exactly like the ones used for filming comercials or movies, not taking pictures!

I think to prove that the means for scanning a track and filming a commercial are not the same.

I'm not trying to make a big deal, honestly.

It's just I don't see what they'd be using for the commercial. They never seem to be filming anything, just driving around the track.

There's only 1 car in one of the pictures near any of the camera cars.

And it's in the opposite direction of the camera, far behind. Furthermore, it's covered in some black thing. I don't know why they'd be filming that.

I'm sorry, it's just I don't see it being a commercial.

Yes, because commercials are filmed in just one continious take and there's never been a scene where the car being filmed cuts in front of the camera car out of nowhere...
I swear, today's kids have zero imagination!!
