ChrisElkins Can ITV Digital pick up Canal+???

Canal+ are actually a very large TV provider, and not just a channel. They purchase the rights to show F1 in various countries on the providers they own (in Spain they're called Canalsatellite Digital, in Poland it's Cyfra Plus etc). ITV in the UK purchase these same rights, and can do what they want with it. The problem is that ITVD don't have anymore bandwidth available to show extra channels  If Sky owned the rights, we'd probably be able to have a camera mounted behind Eddy Irvine's eyes (since there's some much free space in his head )

LOL!

Holy rusty bananas, the world feed looks Amatuer now that i see this level of photography. I never see cameras in all these places on the car when i watch the races on TV. The drivers view in the Austrailian crash looks amazing, its like watchin the movie Driven but its an actual race with real people!

Hi there,
Premiere World shows these pics for 3 years now on their digital sports channel. Premiere World is a german Pay-TV that you can get in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, see http://www.premiereworld.de/
I have no idea why this is not shown in other countries, esp. since it is produced by an english TV-team afaik.

The commentators said these are the same pics that the F1-Teams can watch on their monitors, and it's true - from time to time you can look on their screens in the pitlane. It is like having 4 independant TV stations on the same event, one for the mainstream (Supersignal), one for the followers (Verfolgerfeld), the pitlane and cockpit view. So you can not decide which driver to watch, but switch to one cockpit that was chosen by the director. I don't use the data-channel much, but it is nice when you return from a break and want to get the standings in one view. On
a big screen, the splitscreen-view simply rocks - your friends can each watch their own favorite.

My favorite view surely is the cockpit - at the start. There is nothing close to that, not even GT3 ;-)

On the technical side, you need a special decoder from Premiere called the dBox. Their broadcast is not compatibel to other digital receivers, so - even with a smartcard from Premiere - you need the dBox. Signals come to you by satellite (Astra, footstep on Europe) or Cable (Germany only). Costs are  around US-$ 25,-/month and extra $ 5 for renting a dBox.

happy driving, Robin
