Bertone Vision Gran Turismo - New images!

This machine is just so bizarre there's no way I won't have a crack at it.

I say the same myself. Just like the 2X, the idea of seeing for ourselves if such a wild idea can work within Gran Turismo 6's virtual barriers is just far too curious to not have a crack at it. It's the eagerness of witnessing such a bizarre car going around a racing track.

I need this.

That's the post I was talking about on page 2 of this thread. The idea that "we will probably never see this Vision GT"... It just doesn't sound right, for sketches that were created this year, for a car that has not yet been removed from the VGT section on GT's official webpage. It just doesn't add up, you know?
Yep, I follow your argument, Alfa was removed, this one not, plus it's not sketches only (just like the Alfa).
We really need something like this, not boring concepts like...the Mini...

Yes, not to mention that we never saw the Alfa's complete design, after they removed their name from the VGT project. Meanwhile, we have a very clear view of what the Bertone's design is. Then there's all the facts that I've mentioned; Bertone Design, the year of the sketches, the fact that the car's original sketch was never removed from the VGT page... It's one strange story.

As for the Mini bit, it's what sparkytooth said; while concepts like the Mini aren't exactly original, it pays to have them in the game. Because from what you can see here, many people dislike radical designs such as the Bertone's while enjoying more "realistic" (so to speak) designs such as the Mini. So, it pays to have a varied lineup of Vision GT cars.

I for one think the variety of the machines themselves is a good point of the VGT project.

I appreciate all of the VGTs and yes, you get more variety and that's good, but some are MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better than others.
Some are quite standard concepts but way more futuristic and innovative, just like the Nissan or the Aston.
Then we have the 2X and the upcoming Alpine.
My personal favourite, the LM55 it's the perfect VGT IMO (at the moment).
It's balanced, we could actually see this car in the near future and if you ask me to think about a VGT I'll say a racing car, some top level category, like a prototype or an open cockpit.
Extreme projects are fun to drive and see and those are pretty uncommon inside the game, the weirdest concept is probably the deltawing and the Red Bull X series.
The FT-1 VGT, despite it's the race version of an actual car, is purely awesome...but it's very "common".
Each car represents the vision of the company and I guess is more on this side than "let's make something different or crazy" but I was expecting more from some of them..

I can defintely tell that doesn't spell Urano (the name found on one of the pictures). But Mesos also doesn't have any sort of meaning... Of course, I could be wrong about that.
Well, on further research, Mesos appears to be some sort of architecture group or a computer science division at University of California. Perhaps these groups had in hand in designing it?

EDIT: Mesos. Mesosphere. The atmosphere that "vaporizes" most meteors. Most conventional aeronautical craft can not reach the mesosphere, therefore making it a relatively understudied/unknown part of our atmosphere. The mesosphere has a high concentration of iron and other metal "refractory" elements. Random electric discharges have also been found to occur in the mesosphere.

Therefore, perhaps this "vehicle" is something that figuratively can not reached or topped and is equal parts mysterious (as a sort of naming thing), and is made out metal and electric?

This is of course, speculation, but it seems rather fitting...

I think the machine is either called the Bertone Urano Vision GT, or Bertone Mesos Vision GT

Hard to tell, perhaps it had the hand of the computer science division, but it seems rather unlikely.

I think the machine is either called the Bertone Urano Vision GT, or Bertone Mesos Vision GT

It is the first name, the fact that that the name Urano shows up on one of the pictures leaked is telling enough. It will be Bertone Urano, no doubt about that.

But Mesos also shows up everywhere on the car.

The only explanation for that would be that Bertone Design uses the Mesos platform, and decided to promote that within the car. I don't think that such a thing would warrant the addition of "Mesos" to the car's name, though.

Mesos Platform?

Reading the log in the images vertically, it says "Bertone X Vision Gran Turismo," which sounds like a much more plausible name to me.

From Giulio Partisani Blogspot page.

The Urano series.

Great find, the plot thickens even more. So, does this mean that this VGT Urano is actually the final evolution of a concept that had never left its drawings ever before? Did Bertone find these drawings and gave Giulio the permission to make them into a VGT car? Quite interesting...

Also, seeing a few of his drawings defintely tells me what are Giulio's influences. Guess my Japanese anime reference wasn't far fetched; I see AKIRA and Neon Evangelion hommages, futurism is nothing new to this man...

Edit: I also believe I found where does the Mesos come from, check this out: http://giuliopartisani.blogspot.pt/2012/05/mesos.html

You are right, it does look like something that would not look out of place in a sci-fi anime. I am not even kidding, this would look great in AKIRA...
It does have a bit of Sci-fi/anime (The Guyver) about it, but i think it would look terrible in AKIRA.

If you look at the designers conceptual art pics of the car, they have a certain 'Syd Mead' flare to them.

From what it appears the thinner part of the car is the front. This is based on what the "Full Traction" sketch illustrates. If you look at the top left drawing, you will see there is a seat with a wheel for the seating position:

That's what instantly reminded me of a 'Landyacht' in my earlier post.
