A friend of mine is buying a PS2 and wants to know what in your opinions is the best resident evil game is?

Many thanks

I think it´s outbreak, although I haven´t played it much. There are only 2 RE on PS2 really, Code Veronica and Outbreak. There is also another one, to play with a pistol. And of course, Outbreak 2 is out in Japan already.

I don´t play RE games anymore, since I´ve played Silent Hill 3. Now that´s a scary game! 👍

Wait for the release of RE4 for PS2...

I read good stuff about it for the GC... But who knows how long it will take to convert it to the ps2 :yuck:

My friend has OutBreak and besides the first mission, he gets lost way too often and it is boring to watch him play... The computer controlled AI sucks though...

RE4 is coming out to PS2 only on at the next semester, that´s a little too much waiting.

And Outbreak is meant to be played online, they just made an offline mode to increase sells I guess.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I would get all of them! :O Have your friend try to get Resident Evil 1, 2, 3 and Code: Veronica if he can. It is worth it! :O Without those or just missing those, you can feel left behind in the plot.

While your friend is at it, keep in mind that Resident Evil 4 is a title he doesnt want to MISS!!! Residen Evil 4 fixes the common problem of all resident evils and turns it into a masterpiece! IT REALLY IS THAT GOOD! Except I have read news of how Capcom is having a hard time porting it, they stated that the graphic level of it must be lowered to reduce the long load time and such.

That rumor was already denied by Capcom.

And my favorite RE is the first one. I will never forget that scene with the dogs jumping through the window. It was the First time that I almost ****ted my pants playing a game.:D

Yep.. I've heard that on one of those review sites (as I am a fan of them)...
And watched videos of the gameplays... it looks and seems to play in a superb fashion... (Unlike the slow unresponsive gameplay the previous ones display) Not for me though... I can't play horror games... (Oddly enough I like watching horror movies...)

Tell him to get a GameCube!! (j/k) While he is at it he should get Silent Hill 3... (4 is too bothersome... But then I was watching my friend play it and get lost... Common occurance with him...)

I remember that scene! :O I didnt get scared when I first played the PS1 version because I already saw it happen to one of my friends...but I still got scared anyways! :O I got it worse when I was playing the remake on Gamecube. I dogs jump through the window, I got scared and ran out of the room. :O

I've never played them on the PS2, but if he's never played any R.E. games, I'd recommend starting with the first, and then go in order from there. If he's already played some R.E. classics, probably outbreak, then the RE4 when it's out.

Edit: I just realized, there's no 1,2 & 3 on PS2. Sorry!

P.S. My favorites are 1,2 and Code Veronica. 👍

When you buy RE4. You don't even need to play the first 3 resident evil games. So I suggest you buy a Gamecube and buy RE4!!!!!!!! I guarantee you won't be disappointed! It blows away Silent Hill, or The SUFFERING. This is the true survivial game of all time. If you watch G4 Tech TV, they gave it a 5 out of 5. :)

That is true about RE4 because the storyline goes into the Umbrella stuff very very little. But playing the other Resident Evils can give you an understanding of characters such as Ada Wong and Albert Wesker that is featured in RE4.

I still recommend playing the previous Resident Evil series. They could be found at your local EB or Gamestop, but I think they are rare now. Reading the storylines from GameFaqs also help if you can't get the games.

By the way, I am very happy how X-Play gave Resident Evil a 5 out of 5! :O Too bad the sales of this game in Japan is bad, but hopefully it will make up a little bit or EVEN TREMENDOUS when it gets released on the PS2! :O

I can't help but think the the PS2 version of RES4 is gonna look like a joke compared to the GC one...
GameCube's graphics are noticeably sharper than PS2, but I'm sure Capcom will put in lot of work to make the PS2 version an great game too, especially considering how many they are going to sell on this platform.

Making the game(RE4) from scratch is the only way to make it look good imo.
But RE2 and 3 are great and can be played on PS2. RE1 is ok and can be beat in 84 mins :)
