I only play racing games but I would have to go with Project Cars 2. Once it hit Xbox One X and fixed the limited grid problem it really became great for me. Proper racing classes (or as close as can be), great selection of tracks, time progression where you could race into the darkness or into the dawn, and for me the FFB was correct right out of the box unlike Project Cars 1.

But what really topped it off was that Historic LeMans track DLC. Easily one of the best DLC packages ever. I've spent so many miles on that track. Doing 230mph down Old Mulsanne in a Ferrari 512 S is just the best.

Driveclub

Horizon zero dawn

Project cars 2

Resogun

Rise of the tomb raider

Titanfall 2 - I'm not really into FPS but i did enjoy this game alot. 👍

Soul caliber 6 - Funny thing is i hate fighting games but for some reason i love the soul caliber series. :boggled:
I own soul caliber 3 for the ps2 and soul caliber 6 for the ps4 just those two.

Same as @Jezza819

PC2 on the 1X for me aswell.

Bought the console & a new 4k tv with FM7 & PC2, tried FM7 & thought it's ok, tried PC2 & sold FM7 instantly then upgraded PC2 to the deluxe edition.

The rest they say is history.... I'm addicted to it :)

For the anticipation, hype and sheer enjoyment when i got it - the original Project Cars.

PES and the F1 series have got better and better this generation - and the current games id have to say is the best football & F1 games ever. I play these two the most, easily.

Other standouts would be Last Of Us,MGS V,No Mans Sky,Wreckfest,Dirt Rally.

Im not really understanding people who say GT Sport - yes it was decent with great graphics and good online - but dont most of us want the true Gran Turismo mode where you start out with nothing and work your way up like the PS1 original?? I really hope GT7 brings that experience back.

What a great generation of games! I only have a PS4 so my games in no specific order:

Horizon Zero Dawn
Overwatch
Battlefield 1
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Outer Wilds
Rocket League

Honoured mentions:
GT Sport, F1, Project Car 1+2, TitanFall2, Apex, Hitman 1+2, Elite Sniper 3+4, Spiderman, MGS5

Missed this thread. Better drop in to pay respects to the eighth console generation.

Quick tier list this time of games that have come out during the eighth console generation (PC/Switch/PS4 included). I'll just drop the title and maybe a brief explanation in each tier. Each one of these games I have personally owned.

A-tier. These were my main titles this generation. On the list of best games I've ever played.

- GT Sport: The racing game I sunk the most time into, great racing memories and lots of liveries created.
- Assetto Corsa (PC/PS4): I've never played such a modular racing game as this, it can truly be whatever you want it to be.
- Modern Warfare (Remastered/2019): I'll put both CoD MW games here, played both to bits. Love them equally.
- The Witcher 3: One of the best RPGs I have ever played. Got me into the books, made watching the Netflix series even better.
- Titanfall 2: A little frustrating with the skill gap but still fun to run around and mow down AI enemies in an online match.
- NHL 2017/20: Last one I played was 04, making your own league is tones of fun.
- Ghost Recon Wildlands: A bit of a guilty pleasure, but it's just a fun open-ended tactical shooter in my opinion.
- Battlefield 4: One of the best multiplayer games I have ever played.
- Wipeout Omega Collection: It's a PS3 game, this is technically cheating by being here.
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Best fighting game ever made, probably. Hundreds of hours wasted trash talking friends and getting sweaty palms.
- Dark Souls III: Best game once you get the hang of it. Interesting world and great customization for your playstyle.
- Alien Isolation (PS4): The best horror game I've ever played. A little frustrating but incredibly authentic to the first film.
- Halo MCC (PC): Gave me a massive tent in my pants when I played Reach for the first time again in years.
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Probably the best kart racer I've played besides Double Dash. Amazing game. Everyone should have it.
- Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: It's a top-tier Nintendo game. One of the most enjoyable Zelda games I've played. Not the best, though.

Honourable mentions that don't make the top of the list... Good games in general. (B Tier)

- Modern Warfare 2: Campaign: Seriously, no multiplayer? That pegs it down a tier.
- Minecraft PS4 Edition: Good to play with friends, but it gets old after a while. Get it on PC if you haven't already somehow gotten it.
- No Man's Sky Beyond: That's how you save a game. Very relaxing to just hop in a starship and go exploring at your leisure, too. Awesome update.
- Mass Effect Andromeda: Story was terrible, but underneath that was actually a solid third-person shooter with great mobility mechanics.
- Project CARS 1/2: Didn't quite make it into the favourites list. Frustrating moments and too many bugs soil the experience a little too much.
- LittleBigPlanet 3: The charm is still there in the multiplayer and the story mode is fun, but it isn't as good as 1 and 2.
- The Alliance Alive (Switch): Great JRPG. Forgoes traditional levelling mechanics in favour of a unique but somewhat confusing story.
- Ace Combat 7: Fun flight/dogfighting game, not enough content in it to justify full price.
- Battlefield 1: Wow this game is pretty and it plays amazing, not enough content.
- Kerbal Space Program PS4: Very difficult spaceflight sim. Replicating the space shuttle yourself and getting it into orbit is something else.
- Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order: Very authentic, plays well but replayablility is non-existent.
- Atelier Ryza: Criminally underrated JRPG on the Nintendo Switch.
- Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Great card game sim on the Switch, fun to pick up and play a few rounds or play against my brother.
- Dark Souls II (PS4): Like DSIII but clunkier and less fun.
- F1 2018/19/20: Marginal improvements to each title, 2020 is the best one of course. Solid motorsport sim with fantastic career mode.
- Spider-Man PS4: It's a great open-world superhero game. Web-swinging done right and the story is really good.
- Undertale (PC): It's a funny and likeable story with a great soundtrack. It's a pretty simplistic game, though. Can get very hard.
- Stardew Valley (PS4/PC): Farming sims aren't really my thing, but my oh my, does this game have an amazing atmosphere.
- Divinity Original Sin II (PC): The Gamemaster mode is wild with friends. I love it.
- Bug Fables (Switch): A good RPG in it's own right with great writing and a likeable cast. It's too dependent on Paper Mario, though.
- Fallout 4: A good RPG in general, but has some issues with gameplay and performance.
- The Sims 4 (PC): 3 is better, but it's still a decent life sim game. Complete creative control is nice.
- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare:
Out of all the "advanced movement" Call of Duty games, this was the best one.
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons: It's Animal Crossing. It's fun to interact and decorate, but it can get boring after a bit. Play sparingly.
- Destiny: The Taken King: Bungie's satisfying halo-inspired gunplay in an interesting science-fantasy world. A little light on content.
- Destiny 2: Same as before, but more of it and with some welcome refinements.
- Saints Row The Fourth: Saints Row but with superpowers. 3 is probably better, but it's a fun one-time romp.
- Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4: Best game in the series, really flashy and fun with friends who are also fans, but it's shallow. Great story!
- Call of Duty Ghosts: Kind of forgettable but I enjoyed the time I had with it.

Mediocre Games. Had promise but were ultimately let-downs or boring. Some other games that are good, but I just didn't care for: (C Tier)

- The Crew 2: I was interested by the open world professional motorsports premise, my gosh is this game boring. Cruising is OK though.
- Driveclub: Looks pretty but there's nothing to do and the handling sucks. I'll pass on this one.
- Star Wars Battlefront 1/2: Both games look great, but they lack depth and content. Battlefront 2 was probably the better of the two in the end.
- FIFA 16: I don't even like European football that much, but it was a decent sports game the few times I played it.
- Pokken Tournament DX (Switch): Graphics are great and it looks flashy as all heck, but the game is short and really shallow.
- BroForce (PS4): Has decent enough gameplay but it can get really frustrating and there are some really strange performance issues.
- Rocket League (PS4): I don't get the hype. It's difficult to get invested and and skill gap is huge for people who don't make the commitment.
- Call of Duty: WW2: Barely any content in this one, but the single player was alright. Died off pretty quickly. Play BF1 instead.
- Steep: Fun for a couple hours, but the novelty wears off. Good physics and good variety of transportation methods though.
- Lego Marvel Superheroes 2: It's alright for a children's game but fails to capture the magic of the older LEGO titles.
- One Step From Eden: Very stylish Mega Man Battle Network successor. Very difficult but ultimately lacks content or any incentive to keep playing.
- Deus Ex: Mankind Divided: Mass Effect 2 but worse. Very short, but solid gameplay. Ending was weak.
- Metal Gear Solid: 5: The opening was quite the acid trip. Not an objectively bad game, but not for me.
- Bloodborne: Harder than Dank Sauce 3. Aesthetics and combat differences are not for me, so I passed on finishing this one.
- Just Cause 3: This one bored me. Would rather play Ghost Recon. Probably not a bad game.
- Grand Kingdom (PS4): Turn-based clan war tactical RPG. Art style is nice but it ultimately just feels like a mobile game (because it is).
- Amnesia: Survival horror, has some dated graphics and the monsters aren't that scary IMO. Alien Isolation was far more effective.
- Ratchet and Clank: Unnecessary remake of the original. Gameplay is still good and the visuals are stunning. Movie tie-in was ass.

Bad games (maybe just my opinion more than anything objective):

- Pokémon Sword: Uninspired, poor business decisions, locking all the left-out Pokémon away behind paid DLC.
- Pokémon Let's Go! Pikachu: A lazy re-make of Pokémon Yellow but with the removal of wild Pokémon battles and it's insultingly easy.
- Fortnite (PS4): Started out fine enough playing with friends but got really sweaty and ruined the experience.
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4: One of the worst CoD games I've ever played. Horrible MTX, unsatisfying gunplay, poor map design.
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 3: Same as above, horrible MTX, slightly better map design, unsatisfying weapons, bad campaign.
- Sonic Forces: Aside from the meme factor of making your own OC, it's an on-rails platformer that's super short.
- Super Mario Party: It's just bad, guys. Sorry. Play the older ones instead.
- Portal Knights: A Minecraft-clone action RPG thing. I don't even know what this was and it was really boring for the hour I had it installed.
- Detroit: Become Human: Really pretentious story that's a poor allegory for racism in the United States. No gameplay whatsoever.
- SOMA: Survival-horror walking sim. Cool environment but a really pretentious story with an ass ending. Amnesia is better.
- Super Motherload: Sci-fi themed mining arcade game. Pretty boring if you ask me.
- Stories: The Path of Destinies: More like the path to quickly getting deleted. Super short and boring indie action RPG with "branching stories"

I think that's about it for the games I own through PS Plus, physical means, ones I've sold or the like. Now I'll do a shorter ranking of the games I don't own but have played through friends, borrowing, rentals etc.

A Tier. I would buy an entire console for these games, but I don't feel like it.

- Forza Motorsport 7: Probably the best driving game I've played that I don't own. I should buy it on PC now that I have a solid device.
- Doom 2016: Not sure why I never got this one, being a fan of Metroid Prime and FPS games. Should get it sometime.

B Tier. Ok games that I've happened to play. Wouldn't buy them myself most likely.

- Mortal Combat X: I'm garbage at fighting games like these, so probably won't buy it myself. Good fighting game, though.
- Injustice 2: Same as above, it's a good game but I suck at it.
- Dragon Ball FighterZ: Noticed a pattern yet? I'm garbage at it, but this game's art looks so good.
- Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection: Only played through 1, it was a good game but I don't think I'll go out of my way to play the series.
- Super Mario Odyssey: It's a 3D Mario platformer, so it's good. It just isn't that special.

C Tier. Games I don't want to go out of my way to play again.

- Rise of the Tomb Raider: I guess it's a good game, but I just found it really boring personally and don't want to play it again.
- Far Cry 4: I loved 3, so I'm not sure why I don't like 4. Oh well, moving on and not playing it again. Just isn't as interesting.
- Persona 5: There's a lot of hype behind this one, but it wasn't my cup of tea.
- GTA V: It's technically a PS3/360 game but it's really just boring like all of the GTA games to me. Online is cancer.

D Tier. Games I never want to see again for as long as I breathe.

- Kung Fu Panda: SoLL: Worst game I have ever played on the PS4, I hate you friend who made me play this with him. Curse you.

I totally forgot about Battlefield 4, it's the first game I owned for PS4, so long ago I forgot it was on PS4.

Second only to BF3, one of my favourite shooters ever! Hoping BF6 goes back to modern setting.

BF1 was good but I much prefer the modern setting.

For me, in no particular order, these are the games that I felt a strong connection to:

Prey (2017) by Arkane Studios.
I know I said in no particular order but I lied! This is my favorite game of this generation.
I'm ashamed of myself for almost not giving this game a chance.
I was a bit of a graphics snob at that time and based on the trailers it just didn't look that good.
At least not 2017 good.

Still, I decided that I'll give it a go since it's Arkane (and their Dishonored series was something that I enjoyed, despite the glitches and poor performance) and even more importantly it was set in space.
Boy, I'm glad I did! It's a freaking masterpiece.
The story, the world, the enemies, the art, the sound, the gameplay, it all is just top notch.
Even performance in this game is flawless, which I was afraid of given how poorly Dishonored 2 ran.

The best thing for me is that this game really makes you question humanity as a whole.
Do we as a species have a right to exist? Are we evil by nature?
Is it something that is just part of our DNA or is that something we learn?
Can we change? Do we deserve to be forgiven?

The last of us 2 (2020) by Naughty Dog
This game, for me, finished the whole generation with a massive firework of emotions, graphics, and sound.
It's a game that is not liked by all, but even those who don't agree with the story must appreciate the technical achievement on display.
It's not perfect and could have used a bit of a trim to the story at the end, but to me it exceeds the first game in every way.
I still remember a lot of the scenes from this game because of their massive emotional impact.
I can't wait to play through it again on PS5.

Alien Isolation (2014) by Creative Assembly
Original Alien movie from 1979 is one of my favorites. Still, to this day, it feels scary and does not feel dated at all.
This is usually not the case with sci-fi movies, as they rely on special effects and those usually don't last.
I've always longed for a game that would be able to capture the feeling of the movie, but that seemed like an impossible ask.
That is until this game came out. I feel like the game captures it brilliantly.
Also, the way Alien works in this game is absolutely brilliant.

Inside (2016) by Playdead
Very unique platformer set in a dystopian world.
I’m not usually interested in platformers, but this one is so good that I have to include it.
Must play.

The Witcher 3 (2015) by CDPR
I think most people know about this game. Don’t need to say much
One thing I do want to say though.
I don’t usually put games I didn’t finish on these lists, but this game is an exception.
Looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077.

Hitman 1 and 2 (2016, 2018) by IO Interactive
Our favorite bald assassin is finally properly back!
Remember how special it felt to play the original back in 2000 and these games bring that feeling back.

Project CARS (2015) by SMS
It was pretty exciting to see a game built from the ground up and even participate in its development.
It’s not the best racing game and the second game is better in almost every way, but the first holds a special place in my heart.

Half-Life:Alyx (2020) by Valve
There has to be a VR game on this list and Alyx makes it a no-brainer.
Valve still knows how to make good games and not just collect Steam and Dota 2 money.

Life is Strange (2015) by Dotnod
Definitely one to remember. It’s not perfect, but it sure stays in your mind.
Don’t need to say much other than quote Eurogamer here:
“Despite its many flaws, I can't help but think of it as one of the best interactive story games of this generation.”

Look forward to see what games others feel are special this gen!

In no particular order. Here are my personal choices.

Uncharted 4 (2016) by Naughty Dog
Entertaining and fulfilling story, check. Outstanding visuals throughout, check. Fantastic playability, check. Best action set piece in an action game of all time? Quite possibly. I found this to be a truly wonderful game to experience, the story, the visuals and gameplay were just perfection to me. The setpiece with the Jeep racing through the town being shot at before Nate gets dragged along behind it was a truly spectacular piece. The final showdown was also extremely memorable.

Dirt Rally (2015) and Dirt Rally 2.0 (2019) by Codemasters
An actual rally sim? Nowadays? You better believe it. Dirt Rally in many respects, kickstarted a mini revolution in rally sims. Showing the gaming and development world that there was still a market for hardcore rally sims having not really had one since Richard Burns Rally. The likes of Rally Evo, the WRC series progression toward sim racing, and Codemasters own Dirt Rally 2.0 further solidifying this. DR2.0 is sharing this spot because while DR1 is responsible for a reboot in many respects for rallying, DR2.0 isnsimply outstanding jn every aspect.

Assassins Creed: Odyssey (2018) by Ubisoft
Not normally an open world fan, and despite loving the AC series, Origins and Black flag never really resonated with me. So I didnt bother with Odyssey initially. When I eventually did buy it in a sale, I was amazed. It is hands down the best AC in the series in my oponion. Its one of my favourite open worlds I've ever experienced, the story was great, the combat was great, it was visually stunning and never felt like a chore to play. Outstanding.

Forza Horizon 3 (2016) by Playground Games
Horizon 3 is for me the best driving game of the generation. The map is fantastic, the driving is nuanced and fun and balances the sim underpinnings with action racing perfectly. Amazing car selection and plenty to do without feeling overwhelming or repetitive thanks to blueprints for races and a campaign that keeps fresh. I rate it above Horizon 4 as Horizon 4s campaign just wasn't as fulfilling and lengthy as FH3 and the game got stale faster. Both FH3 expansions were entertaining and fresh as well.

F1 2020 (2020) by Codemasters
A late entry to the list. But F1 2020 is not only one of the best racing games this generation, it is in my opinion, the best F1 game of all time. The driving is as good as its ever been, the AI has fornthe past few years been class leading in its racing ability, the driver career mode has more depth than ever with full F2 seasons, driver moves and more, and thats before you even factor in MyTeam which is outstanding in its own right and unparalleled in F1 game history. The only problem is it sets a very high bar for Codemasters to hit on next gen and we know what happened last time.

Everybody's gone to the rapture (2015) by SCE
It is such a simple game on the surface. Theres no combat, no tutorials, there aren't even any other people in the game world. Its based entirely on exploration, piecing together clues and hints to find out what happened and piece the plot together yourself. Even though your just exploring a small village/town set in the UK countryside, on your own, looking for clues and memories of what happened to the people. It is completely and utterly absorbing and wonderful. The level of detail in the map is truly mind blowing and really helps to immerse you inside this place and pulls you into the story. Once you get into it, its really hard to put down and was truly beautiful and memorable to play.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019) by Respawn
Finally. Someone made a solely single player Star Wars experience with new characters and a brand new story. Not only that, but they absolutely nailed it. Gorgeous worlds, amazing story, immersive characters, lore to make the most hardcore Star Wars fans happy and one of the greatest finales in Star Wars gaming history. Demons Souls/Bloodborne inspired combat really lends itself to giving the lights lightsaber the powerful feel its lacked in other games, and as that's also the sole weapon in the game, that was very much essential to this games experience. The metroidvania levels invite exploration and ensure the game still has plenty to do even after the campaign is finished. A fantastic, beautiful, focussed outstanding piece of Star Wars gaming.

Thanks for sharing, MagpieRacer! I’ve had Star Wars and Everybody’s gone to rapture on my to-do list for a while. Going to be looking out for sales on those. Same with Dirt Rally 2.0, everyone seems to be giving it rave reviews, I’ll have to give it a go.

Driveclub & Driveclub Bikes
One of the best arcade racers of all time in my opinion - much thanks to the post-launch support Evo delivered. I was never a big fan of racing others in multiplayer but the challenges and chasing top times and scores on the leaderboards was truly fun and at times addicting. A true graphical showcase for the PS4, along with excellent weather effects as well a physics engine that suited the game perfectly. It was a joy to platinum both parts of the game. I still have 15 more levels to go until I reach 120 though, so I consider myself nowhere finished with it just yet.

Wreckfest

The lates update with the new Season Pass reignited my love for this game. Great physics engine, some of the best original tracks I’ve ever experienced and a neat selection of cars/vehicles, not to mention the brilliant customaztion options. Another game with great post-launch support and the Tournament mode keeps things fresh with the daily, weekly and seasonal challenges.

Other games on my list are :
  • Forza Horizon 3
  • Mudrunner & Snowrunner
  • Rocket League
  • DiRT Rally (1)
  • ABZU
  • Absolute Drift

Now that many of us are officially ankle deep into the new generation of console gaming, I'd like to know which games you've all enjoyed the most over the past gen. This is solely based on a measure of personal experience and entertainment, and has little to do with public ratings, in-game content, or overall quality of the products in question.

Remasters, remakes, multiplats, PC ported titles, and bundles (Halo MCC, Serious Sam Collection, etc) are all fair game.

I'll start things off with my own top 10:
  1. Ark Survival Evolved
  2. Divinity Original Sin II: Definitive Edition
  3. Driveclub
  4. Elite Dangerous
  5. Forza Horizon 4
  6. Grip: Combat Racing
  7. Killzone Shadowfall
  8. Planetside 2
  9. Titanfall 2
  10. Warframe

I only got a PS4 in 2019 so I'm a long way behind, and not playing many games this past year either. But of those I've played I can probably manage a top 5.

  1. Horizon Zero Dawn - Didn't expect to like this too much but it was fantastic. Great characters and story, learning all about the past lore and Aloy's history in particular. Interesting world as you discovered the different machines and pretty fun combat. Didn't massively excel in any one area but as a whole package it was just very enjoyable.
  2. Hollow Knight - The best Metroid-vania I've played since what for me is still the best one, Super Metroid. Great world, challenging enemies and platforming, just everything you want from a game of this type done really well.
  3. Cities Skylines - Bought it as a casual game to play in the current times, something to relax and not work the brain too much. Didn't expect to like it that much, never played a city builder before, but I've now sunk hundreds of hours into it. Granted you really need a lot of the DLC on console to truly keep it engaging, so it's pretty pricey overall, but it's just so compelling to keep coming back to make better cities.
  4. Batman Arkham Knight - So yes, the Batmobile was bad. Way overused. But I still really enjoyed this final game of the Arkham series, a lot of fun.
  5. God Of War - I didn't like the old GOW games, I've never been a hack and slash action kinda fan, but this new one was rather good. Still a bit hack and slashy for my preferences but the story was good, worlds were interesting, and some fun characters.

It's a shame not being able to include a racing game on this list as my favourite genre but nothing has been that good for me, on PS4. Driveclub was probably the best of those I've played so far, but it wasn't anything particularly special. Dirt 4 was also pretty good but those samey generated stages got, well, pretty samey. Haven't got around to Dirt Rally's or WRC yet, they may be better.

Jedi fallen order game of the generation.

I like games that play like the games of old and sonic mania was a close second but this game had it all.

Amazing story, gorgeous graphics and a throwback to the old days with save points, health bars and challenging but rewarding gameplay.

Been crying out for a game like this for years.

Masterpiece

Yearly:
2013 - Battlefield 4, NFS:Rivals - two great games with rough destiny.
2014 - Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2(bought One for this), The Crew
2015 - Witcher 3(Game of the Generation), Batman:AK, Fallout 4, Dying Light, FM6, Battlefield Hardline, Cities: Skylines, Darkest Dungeon - bunch of great games in shadow of Polish Behemoth
2016 - Titanfall 2, The Division, Starbound, Dishonored 2,FH3(build new PC for this)
2017 - PUBG, Prey, Escape from Tarkov - two revolutionary shooters in one year
2018 - FarCry 5, RDR2, The Crew 2 - good, but not great
2019 - CoD:MW2019(best AAA shooter after Hardline), The Division 2
2020 - Cyberpunk 2020 - another Polish Behemoth, not as great as previous

Overall, it was generation of stagnation. None of featured games was really next gen gameplay wise. Next gen starts with Star Citizen, Elite:Dangerous Horizons and Microsoft Flight Sim.

final game of the Arkham series
Gotham Knights will continue Arkham series plot.

I already commented on here (Forza Horizon 3/4, Yakuza 0, Return of the Obra Dinn), but it had needlessly pessimistic tone and I felt there were more games from the last generation worth mentioning, so I decided to add some more.
  • Hitman (2016) - It just nails down the essense of the Hitman game.
  • Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - Mostly because my favorite film is Princess Mononoke and Sekiro has that aesthetic down pat.
  • Metro: Exodus - Still haven't decided if I like the open world aspect, but it certainly is an adventure worth playing.
  • Ace Combat 7 - It's an Ace Combat game, so it goes on this list by default.
  • Shovel Knight - Indie platformer genre was bit overrepresented this generation, but this is my favorite among them all.
  • Undertale - Somehow I completely forgot about this game when I made my first comment and now I feel bad.
Now I think I've mentioned everything I needed to.

If we're talking 8th gen still I suppose it would have to be Ace Combat 7. The generation as a whole was mediocre in my opinion, 7th gen just did more for me.

In bold are my top picks.

Best Gameplay, game design, world building and soundtrack: Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro (my only platinum).

Unique experiences: Death Stranding, What remains of Edith Finch, Inside.

World class single player stories:
Red Dead Redemption 2, The Last of Us Remastered (I didn’t play it on the PS3 and technically is a PS4 game) and Uncharted 4.

Games I spent most hours with and which I love despite their flaws:
GTSport, No Man’s Sky.

Honourable mentions:
The Last of Us Part 2 (technically superior to TLOUr but story wise not even close), God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider Man and Celeste.

@MisterWaffles I felt something in my heart when I saw Bloodborne on your Mediocre list. 🤔
