OK chaps, I've spent the best part of 5 hours going through this thread, downloading everything and listening to all the wonderful, glorious engine sounds. Below are comments on some of the ones I liked more than others. I think the sounds of cars are a very personal thing and everyone has their own faves. I'm gonna drop my own favourites at the bottom, but some are no doubt biased on what I've seen on TV, in real life and on the net.

One thing is for sure though, the sound of a car bouncing the needle off the redline whilst changing up gears can be one of those moments that sticks in your mind for the rest of your life. So enjoy it whenever you have the chance to hear it. And if you hear it every day, then tell us where you live you lucky bastard cause we'll all come round for tea :)

Oh and as a side note, the best sound I've heard in real life has been a 355 maxing out, and I recommend everyone hear it at least once before they die :P. I wish I could hear a CGT but I've only had one cruise past me at 30mph. But even that was nice :) And as for the CCX sounding awesome, I admit on that first video it does, but be aware that the mic on the camera makes a huge difference. I saw the same video of the 787B recorded on two different cams, on one it sounded like a scooter, and on the other it sounded like all the evil gods from Roman and Norse mythology having a growling contest. :sly:

Although many of those cars sound nice (V6's never sound good), I would question the judgment of anyone who doesn't include the Carrera GT on such a list.

It's not like they haven't driven it, unless the video you posted is older:

Absolutely, i get goosebumps every time i hear the CGT. It's one of those engine sounds that doesn't really sound like anything else. It's slightly F1, slightly V8, a tiny bit of V12 and a whole lotta: :) :) :) :) 👍 👍 👍

Can't say I'm a huge fan of the second, but a Hemi idling, and just having its throttle blipped a little is probably what God does when he wants to remind himself why he created Earth. 👍

I'd nominate the Pagani Zonda F for one of the best sounding cars ever.

Awesome post! thanks :)

CCX

another nice post, thanks.

You can't get better than these two.

Didn't think the sound was that special but it was an awesome post, thanks so much.

i love the way at one point all you can hear is tyre squeal, like something's gone wrong hahaha.

Although brief, the 250GTO was a nice spot, like a small (ish) V12.

How about them 20b powered tube chassis RX-8's that are running in Grand Am? Nothing like the high pitched sound of a rotary, the 20b's and 26b's especialy.:)Not my videos btw, but you can really here them scream in these vids.

As I'm an Rx8 owner now, I have to give that the thumbs up too. 👍 Nothing like a rotary running at full pelt.

nice

Yup it's pretty cool how such an old school looking car can sound so good! I mean essentially it's just a pipe on wheels :D

nice idle

OK, now here are some of my favourites (in no particular order):

Carrera GT, this has been posted before so I'll put one up that hasn't:

Here's one of the F40, it's labelled as an LM but I don't think it is. Now I can't speak French so maybe the guy explains it, but as far as I know an LM F40 has a black adjustable rear wing and some dodgyness going on at the front too:

Note how when he gets in, the door panels are painted red on the inside... Making me think this could be the F40 that was at the Paris motorshow in 87, i.e. one of the original ones. See here,

It would be good if someone could confirm or deny this.

E60 M5, how do you make a V10 sound like a V8? easy :P

And now here are some non car engine sounds that I also love to listen to sometimes:

Sopwith Camel (with a rotary engine, as in not a Wankel engine, but an engine that completely rotates!!! It's a Gnome engine I believe)

Spitfire

A RR tank engine I think...

And one more, a Radial engine,

(For those thinkin a radial engine is moot these days, I hope you know that a Harley engine is two cylinders of a radial engine ;)

Damn that Muira was beautiful.

I relaly like the dark red Gallardo(s) too. They look great.

Nice vids. 👍 I actually saw these on YT a coupe of days ago, but saw the length and couldn't be bothered watching them. I watched them both now though and sure am glad I did!

Also, on a completely unrelated note - YouTube has upgraded their embedded player. Cool! Good to see Google at work.

My absolute favorite! I will post this video in about every thread its applicable in. The best part is with about 50 seconds left till the end.

Definitely nice.

But, today, the V8 Vantage stands as one of the best.
