I'd say the best bang for buck high end wheel will be the fanatec CSW when it comes out soon!

It has quick release and has a REAL bmw rim you can get with it, that alone to me makes it the best wheel :D

I like Fanatec Best I have GT3RS wheel 2yrs now leather on wheel is still new even where my hands go. As far as tech support they are ok at best kinda have to follow thier rules and it is time consuming. my issues so far are brake pedal on club sport tends to stick now and then and one light on display quit working but i can still read what I need to when changing settings. Just my 2 cents hope it helps

You have used all 3?

If you have then fair enough.
Going by what I've read I wouldn't kick a Frex out of bed..... Er.

Just saying my $660 w/ steel pedals vs 2k for just a wheel. wow ! but yeah I tried a frex at my friends house its sweet for sure so strong, to touchy for me but that could be from little time on it. never tried the ecci.

I wasn't being funny. The OP mentioned a no money issue. (I'll never have that).
That's all.
Atleast you can say you have tried one. Wish I had.

Gonna love that strong feedback

FREX and ECCI are on a totally different level and CSW isn't even out, and I really don't think it'll even be close to FREX/ECCI since they're on an entirely different level.

Let me put it in perspective:
Tier 1: FREX, ECCI
Tier 2: ClubSport Wheel, CSR Elite
Tier 3: T500RS
Tier 4: CSR, GT2, GT3 RS
Tier 5: G27, G25
Tier 6: DFGT
Tier 7: DFP, F430
Tier 8: DF, GT Force
Tier 9: No name wheels with no or very bad FFB (basically all those toy wheels)

I haven't used FREX or ECCI but both of those are amazing and not your regular PS3/PC wheel, I'd say those wheels are good if you want to make a real simulator - but for everyday PC/PS3/360 use I'd get CSW/CSR-E.

CSW (CSR-E if you're a 360 guy) gets my vote, simply because it's user friendly and suited for normal use.

First I will list the wheels that I have owned and used and their rank.
  • T500RS
  • G27
  • GT2
  • DFGT
  • Sega MK-80107
  • Madcatz ?
  • Ultra Racer"

Now I will speculate and put the wheels in order from what I have read and what I know.
  • FREX
  • ECCI, T500, CSR Elite
  • G27, G25 CSR
  • CSR, GT2, GT3 RS V2
  • DFGT
  • GT Force, F430

The CSR is much better than the G25 (i've had both)

You had this wheel for 2 years and still didn't know it's not covered by leather (suede)?
G27 is covered by leather even though it's probably cheap leather.

Zoom!Zoom!

Cut him some slack.....the vast majority of people are unaware that Alcantara is a man made material and not leather.

How I would rank the wheels based on hands on knowledge and user reviews of those I respect:

1) ECCI Trackstar 7000
2) FREX
3) CSR Elite, CSW
4) T500
5) CSR
6) GT2, GT3RS V2
7) G27 (goes ahead of the 25 due to its helical gears)
8) G25
9) DFGT

You mean he never seen a suede jacket and didn't know the difference? Anything natural has some kind of variation/ imperfection while man-made looks the same. A good example false teeth looks false. You can see the differences in the grain of wood. etc.

I don't think that's what he means- it's the fact that some people are not aware that the name Alcantra itself refers to man-made alternative to leather. And it isn't so much about people not being able to tell them apart physically/visually.

This is in keeping with my extensive impressions from reviewers I respect and my somewhat less extensive experience of the majority of these wheels! Must admit really hoping that the CSW is something really special and is the equal of Japan's and the states finest as I will never be able to afford either the Frex or ECCI wheels but can just about see me being able to stretch to a €500 wheel with a very favourable wind.

If FREX was still in the business of modding Logitech wheels...

I truly believe they'd be leading the market...

This wheel was just simply amazing...

Why should something be better just because it is more expensive? ;)
If anyone has the Frex and the ECCI I am happy to send him a CSW for review when time has come.

I like that kinda confidence Thomas.....good stuff.

Only problem.....human nature has shown that even if the CSW was close to being as good as the Frex/ECCI I doubt you'd get an honest opinion on the CSW from an owner of one of those wheels. That would be like a Ferarri owner admitting a Ford GT is on par performance wise to his $300,000+ pride and joy. I can see it now....

"The CSW is a good wheel, but (insert excuse to justify spending $2000+)"

Not gonna happen.

You are right. Unfortuantly there are not too many reviews about those wheels out there from professional magazines. If you know any besides ISR, please let me know and we gonna send them a wheel.

Amf, get on that ;) hehe ;)

Thats how to do it Thomas. Go into battle with confidence other wise dont get off the bench.

I fully expect the CSW to be up there with the Frex/ecci wheels. Those wheels have been out for sometime now, its only a matter of time before they get dethroned. If the CSW is the wheel to dethrone, or join them in the castle is yet to be seen, but we can all agree that it will absolutely be more 1/3 the wheel that those are. Price to product comparison.
The csw also seems to be much more feature packed than either of those.
Now, whos going to be the first to come up with a fully featured fluid dampening wheel.
Ever thought of contacting any major electronic gadget magazines, "wired" or "consumer report" ?

Sorry for the scatterbrained post, working on my first fix of caffeine for the day.

The only guy I remember having a Frex on these forums and several other wheels was Stega. He got hassled a lot over a year ago with people giving him a bit of grief.

Havnt seen him around in a long time.

I wouldn't know where to start with getting hold of then wheels LOL.

If I could it would be great to compare... I'll try LOL

Anyway I've sent them an email so hopefully they'll get in touch. I basically bigged up there egos slightly and said they could send the wheel to prove themselves LOL

Although technically that's what they have to do

OP depends on your budget... if you can afford the most expensive get that.. but that doesnt mean its the best for everyone specially if your only going to use it for couple hours here and there.

id say do your research and in the end... you might just end up getting the G27..... LOL

Unless you just want the best of everything....but remember just because its couple grand more expensive than others doesnt mean its the best.... if you really want a wheel that is excellent for the price... get the Fanatec CSR Elite..
