Best wheel

Its weird cause when I count up what I have spent on my own actual seat, the brackets, runners, buttkicker/gamepod metal base, isolators and 7 tactile units attached to the seat alone the cost would be beyond £1300 or a $2000 value.

Yet I would never dream of buying a $2000 steering wheel.
The CSW for many should represent a quality/pricepoint and performance thats untouctable costing less than 1/2 of other high end wheels. I see iracing forums going on fire when it releases and the highend users start buying them.

No discredit to other highend wheel makers but Im sure the CSW will have an effect on their own business.

Actually, when I think again I'm wrong.
Thomas has a good point here, just because FREX and ECCI are over 2000 euros it doesn't mean that they're better than CSW.
When CSW comes out we'll deffo need the best wheel shootout - FREX vs ECCI vs CSW by an unbiased reviewer...the only question would be - who's up to the challenge?

I don't know any sim racer who has 5000 euros just in wheel's worth.

I find it unlikely that I'll hear back tbh

Likely true. I dont know about FREX but my understanding with ECCI is they do not stock wheels at all.....everything is made on an order by order basis. They're not like Fanatec or other companies that can simply grab one off the shelf, slap a shipping label on it and be done. This is also likely we we have so little to go by in terms of reviews on both of those wheels by FREX and ECCI. I could be wrong but I'm betting ECCI hasn't even sold 50 of these wheels to SIM enthusiasts.

You had this wheel for 2 years and still didn't know it's not covered by leather (suede)?
G27 is covered by leather even though it's probably cheap leather.

Suede is a type of leather. Alcantara is what covers that wheel and it is a quality synthetic material.

Hahaha, go Amf!

hehe

Exactly + its £2000 so its a risk to companies.!

My dad owns a machine shop and mass production drastically reduces the costs of a product so naturally the price to buy (assuming the company isn't greedy). He did some one off parts for some CNC machines that were pretty basic but single unit orders. On some more complicated orders, with more exotic materials the price was actually less because he was making 20 of them.

Creating 20 doesn't mean that its cost 1/20 as much, but it does drastically bring the price down once you start mass producing. Once the process is thought through and you create a template setup production is more efficient. You also get the benefit of discounts when buying more of the raw materials.

The CSW or CSR Elite could have been potentially priced similar to those other wheels or even more if the production runs were as limited. The Elite even has additional licensing costs.

Good point. In fact our prototype costs were higher than those other wheels. You need to invest in toolings and take a lot of risk to bring the price down.

Yeh a lot of people who have never been involved with manufacturing tend to think cheaper price= cheaper build/materials.

Of course suede is leather. It comes from the underside of the hide. Alcantara is a lot cheaper than suede and is common in cheaper line of furniture.

Please, wrap your wheel in suede and see how long it'll last.
Suede isn't durable, especially on a wheel rim.
The choice of alcantara on Porsche isn't because of cost, it's because of durability.

Not sure of the durability of suede.
They did used to make shoes out of it though. Still do I believe

It was only the blue ones you shouldn't step on.

As with leather there are different grades. Some can be very tough/durable. As for wear and tear even man-made material has it's limits.
I have a seude ottoman that still looks good.
Better yet it seems you can even buy a leather suede wheel on E-bay.

Alacantara has a great feeling... It certainly dosent feel cheap..

I don't see the problem.

Still no reply from frex.. *launches spam bot* ( joke I just made that up)

Alcantara trim is an extra cost option in a Porsche and not cheap.

Duh. Nothing about Porsche is cheap. Even a cheap plastic strip for my Civic cost $60. It's common knowledge any part you have to get from the dealership you going to have to pay through the nose for.
Alcantara itself which is mostly made from polyester is not as expensive as any type of leather.

Regardless of the underlying cost of Alcantra... my point is that the material is a high priced trim option in a Porsche and therefore is definitely seen by Porsche and some of their customers as a high quality and desirable material.

Not true. Some ALCANTARA imitations with bad quality might be cheaper but genuine ALCANTARA, made in Italy, is about double as expensive as the leather used on steering wheels.
The PWTS steering wheel leather was identical to the one used on real BMW cars as it comes from the same factory (in China). So we know the pricing of leather compared to ALCANTARA but we have chosen the more expensive material for it's better functionality. No other material brings a similar feeling.

Thus, why I can't wait for the CSW...........(speaking to you Thomas, lol) Take your time boss, good things come to those who wait.(Still learning that as I type this)

IF you can give a timeframe, when do you feasibly see the CSW coming to market? If you cannot, I understand. It will ba amazing no matter what, and I GUARANTEE I am in the first 50 to order it lol.

Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket company or if Fanatec is offering new wraps for a PWTS? I would love to rewrap my wheel with either the original leather or Alcanatara.

I don't know where to find it in every game, but in Forza 3 alone I have over 98,000 miles logged in on my PWTS and CSP.

LOL... I remember on Test drive unlimited did 90 thousand on 360 and I got TDU2 and did a lot of miles. On GT5 I have done a lot of miles.. maybe close to 40000 or more!
