Some names I just find odd or silly:
- Volkswagen Golf - Did VW expect Golfers to be buying these. Though I suppose it makes sense as you can fit golf clubs in the trunk/boot.
Ah, that makes more sense I suppose.Golf was actually part of the naming convention for the new fwd range of cars. They are all based on winds, Scirocco, Passat and Golf. Golf being the German word for Gulf, i.e. Gulf Stream.
It included McLaren in the name becuase McLaren developed over 40% of the car, it was very much a joint effort. However you could argue that calling it the Mercedes-McLaren SLR might have been more logical.Mercedes SLR McLaren (why would you name your car after another manufacturer?)
Bad car names:
Anything by Škoda once you realise that Škoda means pity, damage or even shame in Czech. And Slovak. And Slovene.
Shame Octavia
Shame Superb
Shame Yeti
Shame Felicia
Wasn't there a grunge band called Shame Felicia? One of those acts that was really going somewhere but the fame got to be too much and they just grenaded.Shame Felicia

Yes that's the point I was trying to make. If you want to show a joint venture between two companies, you credit both as the creators of the product, not name the product after one of them.
Bentayga. What the hell Bentley? You're better than that.
Almost everyone discards the Benz in Mercedes-Benz anyway though.
