The rules are as follows:

  • Entries will accepted until 11:59pm (GMT) August 11th.
  • Each competition's voting will last for one week. The winner of that round will choose the next theme.
  • All entries must have been taken between within the last 6 months and preferably after the announcement of the theme.
  • Entries must be posted as a thumbnail no larger than 700px on the longest edge. Full sized images may be as larger as you'd like.*
  • You must submit only your own photographs, do not post anyone else's work.
  • Only one photograph per person, marked with Final Entry. You can change your entry, but must remove your current entry first and clearly state that you have posted a new entry.
  • You must not vote for your own photograph when the Poll is up. Only vote for a photograph taken by another entrant.
  • The photograph must be submitted with the following information: Subject, Date and Camera used and, if you'd like, the major camera settings - shutter speed, ISO, etc.

*While full sized images may be as larger as you'd like, you should try to limit them to approximately 1200px to enable viewing the entire image without scrolling. It's much easier to see the full effect of the shot when you can view it all at once and not have to pan.

Current theme, chosen by Week #5 winner NISM0_SKYLINE:
Silhouettes
Get those DSLR's back out and the strong back-lights ready, guys. Good luck, everyone!

Some are overlooking it so have a re-read of the bold, bulleted item, please. It makes viewing the poll a lot easier. If anyone needs help with posting a thumbnail with a link to a larger image, feel free to ask. 👍

Where have you uploaded it to? Personally, I've been using imgur lately. After you have it uploaded, copy the text in the Linked BB code box then paste it here. That's really all you should have to do, unless you want to get fancy with editing the hyperlink to go straight to an enlarged image.

If you need any other assistance, just ask.

Every time I try to post one of my pics it says invalid file helpppppp

Hi, and welcome to GTPlanet, and thanks for joining in, bud. Maybe like me you won't have a snowball's chance in hell of ever winning - but you'll be in real good company and learn lots, too.
In addition to what TB said - which is everything in a nuthell - you might want to post further details of how you are going about it; that might help us pinpoint the problem - maybe just a wrong extension, for instance.

Ah! Back on topic: Silhou . . uh ... oue ah? I guess I'll be able to spell that word right after this comp.
Was thinking of rigging up a 'Psycho' scene - back-lit shower curtain, knife in the air, nude woman in paralyzed shrieky pose, etc, but then thought better of it.
Damn. Wish I was at Stonehenge.
The shots already in here are freakin' awesome, guys. You photo-dogs rock.

Three shots within an hour and a half?!?

These young whippersnappers.. . . always in a hurry. ;)

TG there's a few days left. Thought I missed it. I'll be submitting soon. Prepare to be . . um . . blinded?:dopey:

Well, I haven't really taken anything that's fit the theme recently so this will have to do. Kind of silhouette-y I guess. Looking forward to the winter, it's one of my favourite times to shoot motorsport - late races and a early sunset = bliss.

Change of plans, guys. I made a mistake. This weeks theme wasn't supposed to be silhouettes.

I kid, I kid. :P

Seriously, though, I'm out of town for my son's appointment so I'm going to let this one run until I'm back home on Monday. My thought then is to start and end the comps on Wednesdays as that would then give everyone a few days to think up a shot and two full weekends to get one they like. Also, weekends are proving too busy for me to consistently start the new threads. Wednesday should fix that. Hope that's alright with everyone. :D

The first part of that post nearly killed me!

No problem, TB - totally fine by me. It's all good fun and been that way since the beginning ;) . Weekends are mayhem; mine are no better.

Cheers,
Harry.

My soon or GT5 soon? :dopey:

Yes, I'll pull myself away from my new toy and get the next one up and running... soon.

Preferably not GT5 soon
Hmm nice purchase there, maybe rig the next theme to be lego and you've got even more of an excuse to play with it :P

This isn't Washington. There will be no poll tampering on my watch!

Sorry for how incredibly similar (read - nearly identical) this shot is to one of my previous shots but it fits the theme too well to not use it. :(
