2001 Honda NSX-R Concept
First Looks
So you have just finished the fifth race in the NA Events. And lo and behold, you prize car appears to be the godly NSX-R Concept. Among a few of the first things you notice are the unpainted carbon fiber hood bonnet that matches the rear wing. Large, white rims decorate the wheel wells, a characteristic of Hondas Type-R nameplate. Other features include red trimmed seats barely visible through the dark tint of the windows; which in the NSXs case gives the car a nice two-tone appearance. Also, if I am not mistaken, this was the first NSX to sport the fixed headlights rather than the dated pop-up style.

Test Drive: Nurburgring: 801.803
So you immediately hop in and crank up the 3.2l DOHC V6. The idle sound is low, sounding ever so mean with small kicks of the throttle. The sound of the engine revving behind you is enough to get your heart pounding six times faster. Stock, the NSX-R puts out a nice 304hp and an admirable 244ft/lbs. That being said, when starting from a complete stop, full throttle in first gear is just enough power to give a superb launch, but not enough to spin the wheels uncontrollably. The quick launch can also be attributed to its ground weight of 1270kgs, making it a well balanced vehicle.
After taking a few warm-up laps around your favorite track you will definitely want to keep driving this car. I must say that the engineers at Honda have absolutely put all the best stock-performance parts in this NSX. As stated before, acceleration is nothing to turn your nose up to, it has good pull through the majority of its six gears which is somewhat surprising given the large gap between torque and horsepower. Top speed is also quite remarkable but nothing compares to the handling. I would certainly say that the NSX is one of the best road-holding MR cars out there. The car seems to be balanced perfectly, allowing the driver to do with it what he/she pleases. The front wheels, as in all MR vehicles, play a major role in keeping the car under control while cornering and give the driver the freedom of organized over/under steer characteristics.

Final Thoughts
Nobody can really complain about receiving a good car for free. That is why the NSX-R is an awesome driving machine. You can compete in numerous different events such as the NA Events (where you win the NSX-R to begin with) along with other events like the MR Challenge and Type-R races. However, because this car is a concept, it will not be able to compete in races that require the vehicles to be production only.
Should this car be in GT4? As much good as I have said about this car I am sorry to say no. Although I have not driven the new, production NSX in the game, I have read numerous threads and posts that describe this car as an almost direct replica of the last generation NSX. I ask the question, Why have a concept version if it is so very close to the production model? I will leave that as an open ended question. However, maybe my thoughts about this would change if PD includes a Concept Cup in its next installment.
