Anyone know of any parts for the motor that I can put on that won't void the warrenty? I've looked around but most parts I find don't say will not void warrenty.

I found a place in California that sells headers that won't void the warrenty but thats about it.

Any help? Thanks.

With star motors, you can mod your car as much as u want, in any way u want. For us, as long as you can prove that your modification did not contribute to the failure of whatever fails, you're ok. Unfortunately, thats just us, and we are quite different. I know subaru is quite similar, but with chevy, youre probably screwed overall.

Generally, in the US, a dealership can't tell you that anything you have done to your car will void your warranty. That is against the law. The dealership would actually have to prove that any aftermarket part that you put on your car was the direct cause of the problem.

But proving that the part did, or did not cause the problem is something that usually ends up being decided on by a court. That is if you take it that far, which most people never will.
And who do you think is gonna win anyways? A team of lawyers from Chevrolet or you?

How much time do you have left on your warranty?

If you really want to start modding your vehicle, go ahead and do so. If you buy propper parts and have them professionally installed, you shouldn't have any problems unless you abuse your vehicle.

But if you're really concerned about your warranty, I suggest you wait until it expires before you make any modifications.

well about 2 years and 9 months left on the warrenty or about 32,000 miles. So it will be awhile on that.

What about if I use GM certified parts?

Pffft. Mod it, and if anything happens take the mods off before you take it into the dealership.

What modifications did you have in mind.Tampering with any of the emission control devices will void that portion of your warrenty, It's also illegal. There is no performance "chip".A reprogrammed P.C.M. could be used. Save the original, Put it back in if you have a problem. Be careful not to sratch the case or lose the original mounting hardware. Those kind of things stick out like a sore thumb to a technician.

Seems like to much work to have to put things back on if I have problems.

I was thinking about the following:
A intake by K&N
A header, exhaust, and chip package from SLP
a throttle body spacer

I really don't want to void the warrenty since I won't have the funds if the tranny gives way or I blow up something major.

Too much work?!:odd: It wouldn't take a moneky 15-20 minutes to unbolt those things you listed.:P

The exhaust might be a pain in the ass, though. Still quite doable with the proper equipment.

putting headers in the blazer is a bastard due to cramped work space. Plus I don't have the equipment.

The things you mentioned wouldn't ever cause any engine problems. I don't think your going hardcore, and with the miles you have I wouldn't worry.

The header isn't so bad to put in if you have a lift. Its amazing what you can do when your car is above you and you can stand underneath it with plenty of room to work.

KN has a sweet set-up for the Vortech V-6 that puts the filter right behind the intake found behind your left turn singal. If you get everything it will come with a box that has weather striping around the top causing it to seal when you close the hood of the truck. This way it only sucks air through that hole, and from underneath the truck. Nice. Trust me thats not going to hurt the engine.

Flowmaster has the best exhaust systems, and you can buy them pre formed to fit the underside of the truck perfectly. Not going to hurt the engine.

A header is a header really. Same goes for the spacer.

The re-programing can be slightly dangerous. AS long as you do your homework, and see the guys your buying the stuff from know what they are doing, and maybe have a list of customers that proves it, I wouldn't worry!

My take on it! 👍

You could use a lift like Magic suggested, or you could pull the motor, but if you don't have the equipment neccesary to bolt/unbolt headers/exhaust/intake... I'm guessing you don't have the equipment, or know how, to pull a motor out.:P

Thanks Magic.

I don't have a lift though :(

Take it to any local redneck muffler/exhaust shop. They'll throw a set of headers on it for you for pretty cheap if you can't put 'em on yourself.

rednecks ain't touching the black one. A good certified muffler shop can easily touch the truck. :)

I consider any muffler shop to be 'redneck.' Look at the people that work at 'em.:P

I wouldn't take a go-kart to an un-certified muffler shop, let alone my daily driver, or any other car of mine.:scared:

I like this one.

swap in a corvette LT1!!!!
hahaha, yeah, rite. well, now, seriously, I think that none of the mods you mentioned would affect the engine at all, and they are not difficult to do... the headers are the major problem, but it can be solved by a good shop, as mentioned. Id say you go for it man. even the computer tuning shouldnt be that bad of a hassle.
