Why I Want this in GT: The fastest M car ever. Besides, it would make a good Bugatti beater.
From Wikipedia: Originally envisioned as a Ferrari competitor equipped with a special 550 bhp version of the BMW M70 engine, essentially a bored out version of the M70 with experimental multi-valve cylinder heads. A common misconception is that this engine powered the McLaren F1. However, when this was suggested to McLaren's designer Gordon Murray, the idea was rejected because the engine was too heavy and long for the McLaren F1. Rather, variations on the original S70 used on the 850csi, the S70/2 and S70/3 were used for the McLaren F1 (The variation used on the M8 prototype was the S70/1 engine). The project was eventually scrapped because BMW decided that there was no market for an M8. The only prototype ever produced (one that was reportedly not even road safe) was locked away by BMW in the company's ''Giftschrank'' (poison storage).

Specifications (All I can find):
Horsepower:
550 hp
Torque: 404 Kw
Price: $1,000,000
0-62: 3.4 seconds
Top Speed: 217 mph

its a very heavyweight car that I doubt it would go well round a track, but god its beautiful... hell yes, bring it to GT!

The Nissan GT-R is also a very heavy car, and this goes round corners as well
I think its not a very good car... overrated (in GT6) Its not very good in corners (understeer). It also feels heavy and not very agile.
In real life I dont know.

I'm also not the biggest GT-R fan, but it's a fact that despite it's enormous weight it beats about everything even remotely comparable on a track.

But the GT-R was designed to go around corners well, even though the GT-R weighs 1.7 tonnes. But the main difference here is that the 850CSi was designed to be a Gran Tourer, and the GT-R to be a supercar. I understand what you`re saying, but comparing the GT-R to an 850CSi, is like comparing an apple to a chocolate bar. They are two completly different things

Not entirely. Both cars were really advanced for their respective decade, although both cars do have different purposes.

This thread is confusing, which 8 series are people voting for??

Can we have a new thread title please? :)

They're voting for ALL 8-series. As such, the thread title is good.. And it looks like this due to merging with other 8-series thread.

This was my "fantasy" car when I was young. I´d be a former race driver wich entered the police force and my task was to just bust the bad guys racing on the highway and wich the cops couldn´t catch. This was my car, dark blue with black rims. I allways imagined myself driving that... Who knows, maybe one day I can still make that fantasy come true in a way, maybe...

I 100 % agree. Whenever I play GT2, I rarely drive anything different than the 840Ci.

The 8-Series is the best car BMW has ever made. It is also my dreamcar, and I really want one! My biggest goal in my life is to aquire an 8-series.

Congratulations with your E31. She looks magnificent!
I'm really jealous of you to be honest, but I really hope you enjoy it.

Just some questions though:
Is it an 840 or an 850?
If it's an 840, does it have the M60B40 or the M62B44 engine?
Or if it's an 850, does it have the M70B50 or the M73B54 engine?

Also, is it expensive to run?

Thanks if you can reply to me when you have the chance.

Cheers!

I see you've been doing home work on E31's, I have 2 of them, Both V12's One is a Dinan 5.0 Twin turbo, The other is a M73 with custom software/flashed and a LSD upgraded rear diff, They are a bunch of fun to drive, The TT puts out 525hp and the M73 puts out 345hp, The maintenance is very reasonable compared to cars of there era with a similar drive train. Very simple to diagnose with a GT1 or similar diagnostic tool, The good thing about the V12 is, It has 2 of everything, So if something does completely fail under the hood, You can Limp it to safety with half a engine, That's right, It can run on half a engine,)
