Hello there. My father's friend is selling a BMW 525i for $1,500. I made a thread saying that I was looking fora car, but now, I actually have a chance to get one, and this is it.

So, about the car.

Year: (I have to find out.) Due to the low price, there's a higher possibility of it being the 87-91 168hp one. No big deal, but I want this car to be somewhat of a fun car. It's mainly intended to be a highway cruiser.

Horsepower: Depending on the the year that it will have either 168hp or 189hp.

Transmission: Manual 5 Speed

Color: Alpine White

Rims: The rims are stock, I think. Also, the rims have just been replaced with a new set of 4 + the spare.

Tires: I'm not sure about the threading, though I suspect that I'll have to replace them soon.

Engine: The engine runs well. He used the car to commute around San Francisco since he's based in the city due to his job. I'm not sure how many miles he has on it, but I'm not really worried, especially considering the price and how durable these cars are. I'm expecting no more than 200,000m.

Interior: The car has two tears on the interior. One on the front drivers side, and one on the rear seat. The dashboard is cracked

Problems: That I am not completely sure of, but I'll suspect that I'll have some eventually. He mentioned that he's taking the car to the shop to get the plastic rings for the exhaust replaced soon due to it hanging down.

Extras: Comes with a nice stereo equipped, and a few other things.

The car is well maintained and driven frequently as it should be. He also is the one that sold my dad the E30 he has today and it's still running well.

He also mentioned that he'll let me make payments on it over time. I also will get help from my brother, but I'll have to confirm that.

So, what do you all think? I'll be test driving it this Sunday.

It's probably a little beat from driving around San Francisco all the time (but what $1500 isn't a little beat tbh). Honestly though, you know who's selling it, and they've already sold a car that continues to run well to your dad; those are both pretty good signs. It's hard enough to find any sort of good car for $1500, so if it checks out... do it.

I wouldn't call it "beat" just from being around San Francisco. He's only in San Francisco about 4-5 times a month, maybe even less.
