Crazy how even with recent advances in the usage of lightweight materials this manages to weigh 275kgs more than the E60 M5, which wasn't exactly lacking equipment in the first place. Hopefully the next generation of super saloons can reverse the trend.

The chance the next 5-Series and M5 is going to be lighter than the current F10/F11 5-Series is big (atleast I think so!) The reason beeing the fact EU want the car industry to have lighter and more fuel efficient cars.

And I do agree, the current M5 is too heavy compared to the E60 and E61 M5. The engine, transmission and chassis make up fir it though.

despite being powerful it probably under steers with that much weight and it's acceleration isn't probably great either. i like lightweight cars, such as a lotus or a caterham.

Understeery? propably yes, but then again, it wouldn't be a problem to fit a better suspension for example.

The acceleration is incredible though, me and my dad tested an M5 F10 before the summer, and this thing accelerates like h***! Really fast, and the gearbox is smooth and shifts gears faster than you can blink!

But I understand you aswell when it comes to an Caterham for example. An Caterham with half the power of an M5 will propably destroy the M5 around a track, and under acceleration.

But I prefer cars like the M5, because they are really quick, sounds great, and can be used everyday. But that's my oppinion though.
