Used to be (and in most sims still is) that you could brake a bit later and bleed off the brake through the corner. In the current physics (and I believe the 3rd physics revision?) doing that just means the car doesn't turn. Doesn't matter how much brake input, it's just like a hard limit to how much the car will let you turn in.

I play a lot of iRacing, and with GT7 1.49 onwards had a very similar braking philosophy - in iRacing you want to be braking at about 80% and dragging it off, which transferred near 1:1 to GT7 with the last physics and meant I could swap between the two seamlessly. Try and do that now and you just slowly drift off track like a sad penguin.
Interesting, i'd not tried trail braking yet, well just a little on the infield right hander at Interlagos. So what's the play now, hard on the brakes, release and coast through the corner, more of a squaring up of the corner?

I understand that this new update is not the best that PD has done since the beginning of GT7. But I don't understand why then I was able to improve my time at Brands Hatch so significantly from 1'37'9xx to 1'37'643. Indeed the braking has changed and I had to fight very hard to understand this change but otherwise I didn't really notice any change in the behavior of the cars. I already found before this update that some cars were ocean liners and wouldn't turn if you didn't brake very early. And there it's the same. After all these cars (like F1, Red Bull, VGT, etc...) have nothing to do in this game. I don't play the PC simulation game so I can't make a comparison, maybe -be with AC which I downloaded a few weeks ago. In any case, with each update there will be a change which will favor or disadvantage certain players.

I ran 150 miles post update and fell short of beating my time by half a tenth, so the new physics engine didn't reallyalter the limit for this TT 🤟.

The benefits of this new engine is that you can really get on the power much easier during corner exits, but the downside is there's just a tad more turn-in understeer, particularly noticeable at the 2 tight corners (turn 2 and the penultimate corner).

I uploaded this lap in-game If you need some tips.
How do you feel about the whole “trailbraking nerfed” discussion?

It does feel now that getting off the brakes altogether is more powerful than trying to bleed them into the apex. With the Testarossa and the F1.

Interested to know what @Tidgney feels too, now that your online guide has been nerfed by the physics! Can you still trail brake effectively?

Adding to the masses with respect to the braking performance... Had a quick go back at Monza having done a little homework and found around half a second to go 2 tenths clear of the new gold standard. Should be able to get into the 24's with a bit more practice, but you folks in the low 24's are crazy! No idea how to find another second...

I haven't tried the Ferrari again, but when I was driving the new Formula car trail braking still felt fine to me? I'll try it more with the new daily races next week for sure!

Yep, that's why I mentioned turn 2 and the penultimate corner, I really really struggled to do anything with the front end at those turns. Nothing seemed to work except just hitting your braking marker, and executing precise turn-in form to negate understeer, which also helps the car stop at the apex.

Didn't really enjoy the driving experience I must say, car felt totally muted and brick like.

The in-game force feedback settings that I found most favourable with these new physics are:-

Force feedback sensitivity= 4
Force feedback max torque= 10

Controller sensitivity= -2

Was previously at a 38.2xx which was my peak. I felt like the physics update on controller allowed me to gain pretty much half a second in the testarossa.
I had the same impression as you about this update. It allowed me to gain 0'300 whereas before I had the impression of going flat out with a car that doesn't turn or brake. I had to review my driving style a little. I achieved this time on the controller and at the wheel I am in the same times. But I still found a difference while driving. I can brake better and control the Ferrari better but not the F1. At the wheel, however, it seems to me that the FFB is no longer the same at all, yet I have it at 100%. Have some steering wheel users also noticed a difference? We will see during the next TT if this update really changed anything or not.

Seeing the gold time drop at Monza made my 25.225 far from save imo so I had to go again, slapped the Ferrari livery on it and went for it.
Turned down the TCS to 2 after several binned laps at Parabolica, I just can't work my way around it without TCS, rest of the lap was surprisingly doable at 0 and had multiple 25 flats, but..... for me....TCS makes it all a lot easier 🤣

Slightly uppend the the pad sensitivity to 2
and finally had some descent laps, gold secured and I can leave it now....sleep peacefully... what a nightmare this was.

Peace... im out until Thursday evening 🤣🤣

As some have already reported before me, I am also not satisfied with the update. Significantly more understeer when braking, trail braking no longer feels as effective and the cars drive more digitally.

The new Formula 1 car is really beautiful, but drives very arcady. No comparison to the old Rfactor mods that I drove 15 years ago.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed the new TT challenge. V12 in Monza is very special. My goal was at least a 1:23.xxx.

In the end it was a 1:23.754. I'm very happy with that. My optimum time is another 4 tenths faster, but I just can't get a consistent run through Ascari.
I used ABS Normal and TC 1. TC off is faster out of turn 1 but much more unstable for the rest of the lap especially Ascari.

Morning all - after yesterday’s performance I was in danger of losing my drive with the Footwork-Arrows team for the Monza event, but some time with my race engineer this morning paid off.

This lap was TCS1 as 2 was holding me back too much out of the first two chicanes, and ABS weak. Within a tenth of my optimals here after 200 miles so I might have reached my limit
