This seasonal event is not that difficult for me but, i am more of a light footer. I am aggressive with the steering but with this car, i have to steer slow.

Just managed a 1.56.803. That's the most I'm getting out of it, ever. DS3 and Automatic Trans, ABS OFF. One day I'll learn manual with the pad, my lines are good but AT is holding me back big time.
try and learn manual transmission asap. with manual you have the advantage of slowing the car down by gearing down instead of just relying on the braking power of the car. Goodluck mate. sorry for the double post

I'm on ds3 and I manage 1:56.3XX, tc1 and abs1... It's hard tho, and this is one more prove that the wheel is 3.5/4 secs faster then the ds3!!

It's dissappinting that I can't compete hard

You mean you are 3.5/4 seconds slower with the DS3. The potential for the controller is much higher and this bears out in every TT. Less than one second at the moment with a 1:53.258 for Sawada.

Off topic - but a quick question. Will a 200 degree wheel make any difference to lap times/driving experience?

Thanks for the tip, I'm sorry I meant the manual transmission, I did re-edit my post and corrected the word, yes you are right the MT can make me faster, I'm hoping to learn it one day, it will definitely help, and make the driving professional and close to racing life, I'm just concerned that MT will make me lose the enjoyment or reduce my focus on braking and turning.
Concerning the traction , yes you are right, it's possible to drive faster with 0 traction, for some reason ,I liked to drive aggressive and with ease at 2 traction, the 0 made me spin a lot. and caused so many restarts. :) I have a bad habit of pushing the gas hard and so fast.

Mate, I was like you in GT5 but when I got GT6 I decided to start using MT from the first career race. It has improved my driving heaps. As Gogga said, it can help with braking but more importantly it really raises your awareness of the corner, and your approach to it. You needs a few laps to memorise what gear you need but then you have a better idea of when you need to start braking and you think about how quickly you change down the gears. It seems that some cars handle better if you brake then change down but others will slide less under braking if you change down earlier. You can use short-shifting to prevent sliding around as you accelerate out of a corner. Bottom line is that you start thinking like a driver which makes the game a lot more enjoyable.

I am a pretty bad driver, I am still .247 seconds away from golding the BMW Concept TT, but I used to be a lot worse. And I really enjoy experimenting with different combinations of braking, lines and gears to try and improve my times. It actually improved my focus on braking and turning.

You can turn on the "recommended gear" display. It helps get you started and you can find out for yourself which corners can be taken faster than the recommendation, or slower.

I took it nice and easy, ran a 2'51.642 which was good for 181197th

Then I scrolled down the rankings as far as it would go

Finding this one tough. Im running around 2.00, 10th lap attempt or so. Trying to get gold before seeing what the other drivers are doing. I think my problem with this is that there are a few high speed corners where you really need to try and not brake but take the optimal line to get it through. Im not sure I've gotten that down consistently.... any tips?

I did try this a few days ago as kind of reconnaissance laps, and it's pretty clear the car is twitchy as hell, mainly out of the corners, and you really need to be careful and gentle with your inputs. I did'nt like the car but I'll do a serious attempt tomorrow anyway.:)

I found the trick was to ignore the suggested racing line and take a wide entry to deal with the mid corner understeer and corner exit oversteer

@nick77 : Yes, for some corners, but corners like the Ford-kurve, there you have to kind of overshoot the corner a bit, to get the best exit. i.e. tight in, wide mid corner, and tight out.
I'm now down to 1:52.9 after about 2 hours driving, and as a tip I can say: practice. practice, practice, practice. eventually the car starts to become controllable, its still twitchy, but you'll be able to anticipate it and correct it accordingly. Also, AS helps a bit. not much but a bit.

It's better than a controller, but not as good as a 900° wheel.:)
