Monday night I will be hosting a fun endurance. It's not about winning, its about racing. Boost will be on low which allow drivers who make mistakes a chance to catch back up. You will make more passes in this 1.5hrs of racing than any other event...but damage will be set to full to force drivers to make their passes clean. We did this last Monday and it was a blast.

Date: 01/23/2012
Qualifying: 9:45PM Eastern Daylight Time
Race Start: 10:00PM Eastern Daylight Time
Track: Cape Ring South
Duration: 1.5 hrs
Boost: LOW
Draft: Low
Damage: Full
Tire Wear: On
Tires: Racing HARD
Performance Points: N/A
Power: 325 hp
Weight: 1050 kg
Driver Aids: Off (including ABS)
Vehicle Options: GT300 only
Vehicle Tuning: Unrestricted

A free bump.

I am interested in this, but not this Monday, and not with muscle cars.

Count me in sir! I'll be running time attacks this evening...but MUCH later. (midnight EST) If you see me, just hop in. There will be no racing, just laps of frustration until I'm satisfied!

Should be a fun night. I know others will drop in from my friend list too.

Sounds fun. Not 100% sure I'll be able to make it, but I'll try.

Edit: Just to clarify... FC suspension and tranny and all non-pp parts are fine as long as we detune to 450pp?

Is the GT350R '65 considered "tuner"? I already have one of those at 450. I'll throw something else together just in case. And see the edit in my post above. :)

The GT350R was a racecar fielded by Ford, so I don't think it would comply with the rules for this event.

It was fielded by anyone who bought one from Shelby. We've been running it, but the R denotes one of the 30 odd race versions.

I had a copy of the Shelby Registry for years until it finally fell apart.

Oh, coo l history. Still don't know if it fits with the regs, though. That would be a good car for this.

Question: When is the room going up?

I don't know that it has aerodynamics or LSD settings or anything that can't be put onto any other car. That is usually the reason for restricting tuners and concepts.

There is nothing special about it in the game. No aero, doesn't even come with sport suspension.

All it has is a sort of cool exhaust note. PD may have put the R in because they modeled it without the front bumper and with the hood stripes.

I guess it should be ok, but if you qualify over a second faster than everyone else we may ask you to pick another car.

Room will be open around 9:30-9:40 (20 minutes from now).

Great race last night! Lots of action and lots of accidents. The Camaro dominated, but I had several good battles with other cars.

I had two engine failures but fought back for the win. The first was a pile up in turn 1. Someone clipped the barrier two cars ahead of me and I totaled my car and got stuck in the middle of the track. Nic made his pit stop just before it happened so it took upwards of 10 laps to make it back to the front. The second failure was following Condogg through the highspeed left hander after the carousel. He went wide and slammed the wall. I was full on the gas and hit him, then leadbdr hit me. It's hard to follow that close and still have grip to avoid accidents like that. I turned things around by timing my final pit stops and staying out of trouble. I went in on lap 35. Nic pitted on lap 36 I think, and I figured it was only a matter of a lap or two before he caught me. However, the only person close to me by lap 43 was dabney, and he was a good 3 seconds back. Dabney and I made one final pit stop and that put us right behind the lead pack. By lap 45 their tires started to go and I was getting better exit speeds. Lap 47 I got the lead and held it to the end. Nic was able to boost up to my bumper before turn 1, but he couldn't get his car to stick for a pass.

In the end I pit 9 times and was still less than 2 secs from victory. I knew being within 30 secs with a few laps to go and fresh tires was all I needes. I pit on lap 36, 39, 44. Everything go going to plan. screw around for 90% of race then win. Unfortunately twice on lap 46 I was hit by leadbedr and took damage. I paid back that by drifting through corners till my smoke screen caused him trouble. K_riens got loose on 48 I think and I got past but Leadbedr had to hold up. :) I caught up to Nic and Chuyler but with multiple damage, I couldnt exit the corners to ever make a pass attempt and I wasnt willing to push past Nic that late and risk wrecking us. All along I was convinced that passing late was key, but on that track having the lead with drivers tailing u can trust not to wreck you was tantamount.

@Huyler Yeah I think I pitted on lap 36 (normal pit stop) then again on lap 38 (totaled the car for the first time)....after 2 pit stop in 3 laps I didn't feel like I would want to pit again till the end (even if it was not the right thing to do).

On lap 31 someone said that I wrecked my car...but I did not(I stopped very close to the wall LOL).

When I lead the race for about 10 laps it was weird...like if the boost was disabled...I was a constant 10-11sec in front for a long time :odd: ...

this sounds awesome, but i'll join in future if there is a bump to 500pp cause thats my usuall pp as a lots member and i have multiple musclecars tuned for 500pp sports hard tire races.

Yes, that was after my second accident. It took forever to get back to pit road and with full engine damage I must have fell back a good minute. It took me a while to work through traffic and by the time I made it to 2nd place you were 10 seconds ahead and I had worn tires and front suspension damage preventing me from closing the gap. I ran a few more laps then hit the pits for fresh rubber and repairs.

I enjoy this format (low boost endurance) because you get tons of laps in and have lots of chances to pass each other. If you screw up, you can always pit and start over. Once you get to the front, its a challenge to stay there. The guy behind you has more grip and more power so trying to nail every turn perfectly is moot. I try to just hit the apexes and shut down the inside line. It works most of the time.
