Matt Damon is back as Bourne! Producer Frank Marshall shared this photo from the first day of principal photography. See the next chapter in the Bourne series July 2016.

I'm curious to see where they go with this - Ultimatum wrapped the trilogy up nicely, and while Legacy tried to address the fallout from Bourne's actions, it was a bit of a false start; there was no direction for the story to go once Legacy was resolved.

I'm reminded of the scene in Hot Shots! Part Deux where Charlie Sheen enters the cage fight; his opponent dips his knuckles in paste, then a bowl of metal shards and gravel, but Sheen gets chocolates and lollies to fight with.

Not sure, but the trailer makes it like it's going to be a retread of "I remember!!"
I get the feeling that the film is going to be asking the question of whether or not the world still needs Jason Bourne. He was the product of a very particular set of circumstances, doing the kind of things that governments don't like getting caught doing, but now we live in an era of increased accountability since the public has become aware of what "doing whatever it takes to keep us safe" actually means. No doubt the film is trying to question whether there is a place for Bourne in this new world.

The fact that it's called 'Jason Bourne' is making me worry about it being more of a reboot than a continuation of the previous films.

There's no evidence that it's a reboot. They probably couldn't just think of an adjective for the title.

I think even the small bits of dialogue in the trailer made it pretty clear that it was a continuation of the series regardless of the title. The previous films took the book titles for the marketing and name recognition despite being completely unrelated other than a few basic plot points early on in the first film so I really don't care what they call this one .

They could have just taken the next book name and called it The Bourne Betrayal I guess. Not like the story matters one bit but that title would probably be fitting anyway.

...But if there are no betrayals in the movie, then that title becomes misleading. And we all know how litigation happy US can sometimes be....

I think Jason Bourne is fine as is - the whole Bourne This and Bourne That business was getting ridiculous anyway. :dunce:
