BR7: Skid Recovery Force mandatory?

Just checked, riding the ring with my WRX was 22sec faster when trying it again with SRF set to off.

How then is SRF classed as an aid if it slows your lap times?

Well I compared the Nissan Z on Madrid, in the bonus race and in practice mode... completely different handling. (Was a couple seconds faster with SRF, but I guess that's cause I'm a noob :D )

Anyway, really annoying to someone like me who's trying to learn the handling.

It's definitely on, and yeah sometimes it slows me down too, like in the X1 challenge. I still think it's some kind of mistake that it's left on.

This SRF kills all my driving skills! I´ve started the first GT Event and thought WTH why feels my car so weird, then I´ve seen that this f....g skid recovery is turned on...

It fells more like mario kart or burnout, totaly arcade...

rfa
I think it's the same as Indy cars...

I turned ABS = 0 & then SRF was OFF

If I left ABS on then I wouldn't be able to turn SRF off. (DFGT)

Yes it is, I always drive with ABS=0 and SRF is off, otherwise my imprezza in the Nurb challenge could not slide as it did with my medium sports tires, not to mention the "drifting experience" as it is Eiffel with the RX7.

ABS=0 means ASM and SRF off as far as I can tell, why the game is configured like this, do not ask me...:ouch:

Could anyone please double check and confirm?

I always play with abs set to 0.. SRF is still on in those races where it is set to "on" and gray'd out. If you are saying that setting abs to 0 turns of SRF even where it is forced on, I disagree. Not sure if that's what you are trying to say or not.

You do know better?

I'm not trying to start anything, people complain and whine about this game. PD spent 6+ years developing the game, pushed release dates much to the chagrin of every GT fan boy, including myself.

They finally release it and everyone complains, the general forum is plagued with complaints instead of constructive criticism (generally speaking, where applies). GT obviously was released as a sort of rough product; this time around they get to provide updates, fixes, and FREE additional content and they've done a few times already since the release.

Before you go throwing the AUP and name calling malarkey, make sure you aren't doing the same by calling me a troll.

You also, thread jacked. Good job.

You don't know any more about this than anyone else.

Instead of calling people names which is against forum rules, maybe try forming a post that expresses your opinion without sounding like a troll? Is that too difficult? Or is that too much to ask?

https://www.gtplanet.net/aup/

It's the 3rd rule on the list. Do you think calling a thread full of GTP forum members discussing a race setting "whiners" violates that or any other forum rule?

Oh, and don't tell me how to play GT5, I'll play it anyway I want to. It's none of your business if I want to use SRF or any other setting. If people want to talk about it and you don't like it, quit reading the thread.

I didn't "thread jack", you did. I responded to your blanket insult. Next time I won't respond, I'll just report you I guess.

I didn't call you a troll either, read harder.

Calling everyone "whiners" IS STARTING something, is flaming, does sound like "trolling", and is probably against AUP.

Example of "thread jacking" as you put it, and calling people names or "trolling":
whiners. I doubt this is going to be a permanent fixture in the BRs... Remember the BRs are PD created with the idea of providing a different type of driving experience outside of the norm you guys are probably accustomed to.

Just play what they give you. Its been different every time, whiners.

EDIT- if a mod wants to delete this post (mine) in the cleanup process, I'm happy with that. I won't be responding to any more of your flamebait posts.

No. I stayed to topic, but with the opinion people are whiners.

The insinuation was clearly stated by you.

Internet arguing. We both clearly win. Report me next time, will save us both.

You would think that for a game promoting itself as a driving simulator the reverse would be occuring; ie having events where it is mandated that the SRF is off. Otherwise, how are some people ever going to learn ?

Go to the top of the class Mr Dunn. Wholeheartedly agree 👍

Thanks for your feedback, to be honest I did not feel the SRF enabled in some of the events, sure I was wrong as I read from other people besides you that ABS=0 has no affect on SRF. My imagination I guess...

I tried it with ABS off and it does make it much more difficult to those of us used to ABS 1. It will slide when you lock up the brakes... however, you can tell SRF is still on in the bonus races because you can take corners without braking at faster speeds than you would without SRF. ABS off only makes braking more difficult.

No prob.. I did notice something though in another thread...

I was hoping that "ABS 0" trick will remove SRF too, but it didn't work, it just removes ASM.

So that must work in certain situations if he called it ''that "ABS 0" trick''...

But yeah, it sucks that it doesn't work.

Can someone check about mandatory SRF in bonus races after this update?

Thanx.

STILL NOT FIXXXXXXXXXXXXXXED!!!!!!!!?????

I just got back into gt after a hiatus stemming from a system crash and lossed save file.

So I finally get all setup, reinstalled, and a brand new g27 to boot. Go on the newest seasonal event (bonus race?), Roadsters, featuring one make Miata races thinking theyll be perfect to get back into the game with and get used to my wheel (shifting with clutch is so nice in street cars) and to my complete disbelief SRF is locked on!?

Being an assistless drivver (abs=0 too), I thought that maybe it was the particular year miata i was using had a feature (like how 96+ lancers all have yaw control) that was forcing SRF. So i switch to an older model and bam, there it is again. So, I go into practice to find its off. "Skip that event" i told myself.

This next morning i googled it to find ALL SEASONAL EVENTS FORCE SRF !!!!!!

What exactly is this game trying to simulate, cars from the future or magical physics ?

Im sooooo pisssssssd. <------ english for "not happy" :(

I think this thread has become the ranting arena of choice for this topic. Personally I'm trying to get over it. I suggest you do too, either by joining the WRS or boycotting those events.

I heard there was a contractual agreement between PD and Chev because of the new Corvette. SRF is forced on in seasonal races so that the new Corvette can keep up with other cars in it's PP class?

Hmm, lets see

$250 - PS3 (just for GT5)
$300 - Replacement PS3
$271 - G27 Wheel (for a more *realistic* experience)
$60 - GT5 (a "driving simulator")

So yeah, after spending about 900 american dollars for a racing experience that is supposed to approximate the real thing by all means possible, you can bet your ass im going to rant a little when Im forced to put on training wheels!

Thank u for the link, btw... And nothing against anyone here (except for PD).

... SRF is not forced in every seasonal (of the few I tested, only the latest Roadster/Miata event was).

This isnt too bad, though still wacky (probaly a mistake?)...

As mentioned in other threads : SRF is forced on in the race-seasonals. In the TT's they're forced off ( thank god for that ). It has been like this for quite a while and I don't really see it changing. :grumpy:

SRF isnt the only problem that plauges seasonal events.

In SuperGT, with all aids off/0, and on sport soft tires, my weider HSV wouldnt spin, break slide / lock, loose grip out of corners .... nothing. Seasonal events are for the masses to feel good about the winning, it promotes their product for more sales and keeps (lesser) players interested.

Try getting to level 40 w/o entering any seasonals. Good luck. GT Aspec mode is extremely difficult if you dont overbuild and use reasonable/comprable tires (you can estimate what the AI is using based on how fast they take the turns. Follow them, experimenting with different tires, until u find a pair that breaks grip when passing a NPC in the turns).

Seasonal events are sraight fradulent.
