Bram Turismo's Gallery - Tournament Round 1 before/after -

Lancer EVO VI @ New York

January 17, 2007

I hate this update, seriously. I was so looking forward to this one as I loved the reflections, car and angle. Everything went well untill after 5 hours, disaster. As I was finished from everything except the colors and stuff, somehow I managed to completly ruin it. I mean, just look at it, far too bright, far too much noise somehow, the cleanup went to hell, the rims still look far to blurry. I really stink at adjusting the colors I guess, this has got to be my worst update since the start of this gallery. Meh, just meh... Looks like I'll never get close to Charger's level :indiff: Some tips would be very appreciated 👍 I don't know why I'm even posting this one up! Moglet! Cod_Father! Get ur asses ovah hee!

I dunno, I like it. Doesn't challenge the BMW LMR update, but I really like the contrast of the car. The huge, over-silverish rims kinda ruin the flow for me, perhaps a little more white 'flowing' towards them would work better. Or a little blue "shade", just like the rest of the reflections...

Still, very sweet update. You're getting too perfectionist there if you hate this update...

I don't know why you say that man, the shot is great. Well, for me, the rear glass and tailights could need a little desaturation, specially the glass.

The overall reflections are hard, yep, but not bad at all. They are exagerated and looks cool. I like the combination of blueish and yellowish tone of the background.

And one more time, a racing car needs a racing rims. For what was the Evo created?? For rallying!!!

Well, I might have expected too much from it since it's a big chance towards the BMW update, I think I'll do some more of the BMW/ 88C-V-like-style for the next update(s), might help to focus more on tones and colors 👍

I agree with alex, it's a great shot but just needs the glass and lights desaturated a bit. Other than that I really like it. Very 440ish:D

It isn't so bad, we can't see the mistakes like you can. A lot of my updates, I hated them, and the gallery viewers went crazy over them. It's not bad at all, very 440 Charger looking.

The photo isn't terrible in my opinion. I think that it is overdone to some extent, however I feel that that just puts it into a different category; rather than realistic, more towards artistic. You also did mention how about 5 hours in it went to hell. It definately pays off to work on a photo for a maximum of 1-2 hours. After 2 hours things begin to be applied with no self-consciousness of doing so. So, I wouldn't go as far as hating the photo; even though it didn't turn out the way you expected, it's just another step towards improvement.

Very artistic!!! Don´t hate the shot, because its looking good. Fits real good in the japanese anime Initial D...because it looks a bit "cartoonish".
I like this update, and hope to see more from U soon. Cheers:)

its a good shot, you shouldnt be so hard on yourself. And remember, its gonna take a while to get your shots to look like 440's. He is a professional at it. But its still a very good shot!

I'm rather surprised on the positive amounts of comments on the shot, thanks for that guys 👍

And Streetz, that was a well deserved +Rep post 👍

I think it looks suburb Bram, don't be so hard on yourself. :)

StReeTz is right though, I find if you work on something too long. You start not liking it as much and overworking it.

You create awesome work, don't doubt yourself. Look forward to your next update. 👍

I'm going to be quite honest with this photo's 'review'. I hope you don't mind.

I love the background and the blurring you've done, they look fantastic, but the car I'm not so keen on. The black parts of the bodywork and the brighter reflections look fantastic but for me, the yellow road reflections look a bit too crazy. However, that doesn't seem to be your fault because GT4 tends to do that a lot and it would be quite difficult to clean it up properly.

The windows are another thing that stand out to me, I feel they've been oversaturated and have got that 'rainbowed' effect to them. Cars have this in real life to some extent, so they would simply have to be desaturated a little and it would look quite neat IMO.

The rims are a bit of a mistake though if you ask me. They look good on certain cars but are overused these days and they don't suit the Evo one bit. You have, however, managed to blur them better than I could when i tried. Mine ended up looking like some sort of chrome jelly...:grumpy:

Overall it's quite a neat shot with some good blurring and composition, I just think it could do with certain areas being desaturated and sharpened up, and a quick wheel change. I know for a fact that you can clean up shots like this better than most people can, it's just knowing when to stop that seemed to be your problem with this one!

BTW, I hope you don't mind, I took it into Photoshop to have a play with it quickly:

The biggest change is probably the windows and the general colours. I also did some smoothing and blurring here and there.

i like moglet's comment on the photo. though your version of the shot is great too, though moglet's said everything i had to say about it. but like everyone else said, don't be too hard on yourself. i suggest you take things on one at a time. the previous updates are great too. just keep on pushing, and you'll get to the level you wanna be at. i have to say your photos are looking better and better everytime.

Nice shots. I like the shots alot but I have to agree with every one else that it does look over worked but sometimes I do that and HATE the pictures and often delete the pictures that actually were quite good. The only probelm I have with this picture othere than that is the car as in my opinion Mitsubishi have too much of a reputation of being a "Boy racer" company when they are not as they make other good cars apart from the EVO (Okay maybe the evos are the best). I am not saying I hate Mitsu but i am saying that these japenese cars have a reputation of being a "Street Racer" or "Boy Racers Dream" here are the ones I can think of off the top of my head: Mitsubishi Evo 5, 6, 7, 8 , Nissan Skyline (All of them), Toyota Celica and Supras any many more.
P.S Sos for the long winded reply I was bored and wanted to say alot about this pic

Well, I thank everybody for their nice words, that's always appreciated 👍

A rather artistic look is what I went for in these shots, I like it, I especially like the first and the last one. One might think the last one is far too dark but it gives something special to the shot with the soft light covering the road and sky. as well as the nice effect the soft light had on the road in the first shot. Tell me what you make out of them :)

Tons of improvement can be seen in this update. The last two shots are simply exquisite. The third shot is very well done. The utilization of the background to carry the softness on to the car is well executed. The in-game blur worked in your favor for this shot as well. As for the fourth shot, it is quite artistic. I love how you darkened the track while keeping a fairly good amount of contrast between it and the car. Then the untouched or slightly saturated rumble strips give the photo that flow a race car has on a track. Well done update! Keep up the good work, looking foward to seeing more of your work.

Awesome shots. I love the way you took them, without any overzoom giving more than a lonely car. As you said, the last one is very dark but I see the lighting levels out of control. Even the car doesn't match with the overall light you've picked.

I can't say it's bad, but I liked to comment my feeling to you. Btw, the 3rd background and camera works very fine with blurring 👍

To the audi logo in the presentation try to adjust the layer into "linear dodge" and check out the results. I hope this little tip will be useful :D

I like this update a lot as I actually like the R8. All the shots are good but one stands out which is the 3rd shot. I really the camera angles and blur on this as well as the colours are so vivid. It just looks really good. Great work. Cant wait for the next update as the improvements were huge in the R8 one. :)
Please if you could have a look at my gallery I would be very happy

i like the soft tone and awesome contrast of the photos, and how the car stands out in the background. and the third shot demonstrates that really well. The second shot should have had the background blurred out a bit more though. very good nonetheless. i like it!

Streetz: When will you ever post an update again ? i'm waiting.

Lovely shots UltraBram, you captured the R8 racing beautifully. Suberb colours, contrast and angles, it looks like you are trying more in the GT4 photo stage. Which can help a lot with the final outcome of your image. They all look great, keep it up. 👍

Looking forward to your next update and congratulations on starting the Rally Competition. :D

Incredibly stunning photos, Ultrashot! I especially love your black NSX...👍 If you have time, check out my gallery! The link's in my sig.:sly:

Thanks for all the comments, they're very appreciated 👍

I like this update very much, once more an artistic shot rather then the cleaned up ones which I decided to give a rest for now and focus on the artistic side. Wether you like it or dislike it, comments are appreciated 👍

The ground doesn't look so hot, it could have used some noise and a motion blur, but otherwise good shot. I don't think I've ever seen that tone before.

I really really like it, the colouring and contrast is awesome to look at, the car just stands out amongst the lighter part of the track.

The bokeh of the photo, the wall and the fence, look really really interesting too.

I'm not so keen on the lens flare though. It would look alright if it were done correctly but a camera lens wouldn't flare the lights in those directions so it looks a bit too artificial for my liking.
