These drivers tested for some teams:

- Roberto Pupo Moreno: tested the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VII of Katalogo Racing Team
- Mario Haberfeld: tested the Chevrolet Astra Sedan of NasrCastronevers Racing Team
- Cristiano da Matta: tested the Chevrolet Astra Sedan of JF Racing :)
Tony Kanaan tested the Chevrolet Astra Sedan of A.Matheis / Medley Sports (He was invited)
- Tarso Marques: tested the Chevrolet Astra Sedan of Action Power, his father team and where his brother Thiago Marques is one of the drivers.

- The Argentinian Esteban Tuero: will probably drive the 3rd car of A.Matheis / Medley Sports
- Christian Fittipaldi: will continue to drive his Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VII at Terra Avallone Racing. The GRAND-AM races don't coincide with Brazilian V8 Stock Car races.
- Luciano Burti: left RC Motorsports and joined Action Power.
- Chico Serra (1999,2000,2001 Champion): Rumours of he leaving Bassani-RC3 Racing, and probably returning to WB Motorsport where he won his 3 championships.
- Gualter Salles: Guaranteed to continue at Texaco-Vogel Motorsports, just like his team-mate Thiago Camilo.

Two companies are almost 100% guaranteed to join the championship next year. Volkswagen with the Jetta, and Renault with Mégane Sedan II.

The race in Buenos Aires was a success this year and will be repeated. No date was announced.

Hey Johnny, long time no see. :)

I missed the Curitiba race. Actually, both of them. :( But my sister went, and I plan to go next year.

Powertech Racing signs Hybernon Cysne (that drove in Stock Car Light in 2005).

Their 2006 line up will be:
- Diogo Pachenki
- Hybernon Cysne

Now official: Volkswagen enters the Brazilian V8 Stock Car Championship

Translation of the official press release:

São Paulo - Volkswagen is the new car manufacturer in the Brazilian V8 Stock Car Championshiop. The anouncement was made this tuesday in São Paula. Volkswagen joins Chevrolet and Mitsubishi. In the 2006 season, the VW Bora will battle the Chevrolet Astra Sedan and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution for wins.

According to Carlos Col, promoter and organizer of the Stock Car, Volkswagen will have 10 cars in the championship.

Now, according to Col plans, there's only one more spot for another manufacturer to complete planned maximum number of 4. For next year, the Chevy's will continue to have 20 cars, Mitsubishi will continue with 10 cars, and VW also with 10 cars. The plan is to have 10 cars of each manufacturer. By mid 2006 or maybe 2007 the other manufacturer will be announced.

" The partnership with Volkswagen was thanks to the great work of PPD, company of former F1 driver Pedro Paulo Diniz, that maintain a partnership with Vicar for some time, in auto racing projects. The "Volkswagen Experience" project was fully developed by PPD, having as a plan the participation in the most important and famous Brazilian touring car racing championship.

Drawing of the VW Bora Prototype: (i'll try to find bigger ones soon)

PS: They'll still used the old Bora, because the new one (just made avaiable in USA/Europe, will only be launched here in November 2006)

Will Chevrolet still be using the Astra body? It would be cool if they changed to the new Vectra one. 👍

And the bora looks nice.

The information i have is that the Astra continues. Chevrolet wants to keep it's sporty reputation, and let Vectra to be more of a premium car.

Anyway, some rumours:

- Nasr-Castroneves Team (50% owned by Helio Castroneves) is trying to bring Max Wilson, that have been driving V8 Supercars in Australia to be the 2nd driver of the team. Hoover Orsi, 3rd place in the championship in 2005 will continue to be the 1st driver of the team. Some people mentioned that Volkswagen had meetings with the team, so they',ll probably use the Bora next season.

- Cacá Bueno, 2nd place in the championship in the last 3 years will probably race next year for Eurofarma-RC Competições, replacing Luciano Burti, that went to Action power. Antonio Jorge Neto will continue to drive the 2nd car of the team.

de Matta, Kanaan, Fittipaldi...

and Castronieves with his own team... wonder if this will air outside Brazil?

Formula sounds great. Small cars, big engines, RWD... lots of action.

Nope... don't get S.A. stations on our cable here. Bummer. Looks nice.

Is Max Wilson brazilian or australian? And what about your team, are the drivers selected yet?

He's Brazilian. He was Test Driver for Williams F1 , and have been driving for V8 Supercars in Australia for some time.

About JF Racing? Can't talk about it right now. We won one race in 2005, but money was a issue. Hope we get a better or more sponsors for next season.
