Don't know about the rest of the teams or small teams.

Mateus Greipel renewed his contract to drive again for Bassani-RC3 Racing.

Thiago Marques, Tarso Marques (EX-F1,EX-CART) brother, will participate of this year FIA GT Championship. After a test, he signed with GPC Sport. He'll continue to drive in the Brazilian V8 Stock Car Championship, at his father team, Action Power.

Oh, how I wish this would be aired over here! We occasionally get V8 Supercars from Australia, so I hope to see some of this too, either on Eurosport or Canal+ Sport...

Hi,
I'm from Belgium, Europe and was wondering if someone could help me with the team-addresses, or where I can find them...as most of these webpages are in Portugese (Spanish ?) I do not understand all...many thanks in advance !!

Even though it is Brazlian Stock Car, I jokingly call this series "BTM" (derived from "DTM"). The cars look more like DTM race cars, only not with functional front lights. That is, unless they have little light pods or something for endurance races that go into darkness or low visibility.

As far as the Volkswagen Bora with its Extreme Makeover, it's nice to have more competition. In fact, any competition in any series is good. Volkswagen is pretty good in racing, so it will be nice to see how VW does in South America's largest country and fifth largest (I believe) in the world. Good luck, Volkswagen! Sorry, I don't know Portuguesa.

Yep, all sites are in portuguese.

Here are some you can try:

Teams

- A.Matheis/Medley - www.medleysports.com.br
- NasrCastroneves Racing - www.amirnasr.com.br

- Nonô Figueiredo - www.nonofigueiredo.com.br

Some news:

Allam Khodair signed with Boettger Competições, to drive the 2nd car from the team (formely used by David Muffato - 2003 Champion).

The qualifing method have some news, including a "super qualify" and there will be a playoff, just like Nascar.

Paulo Salustiano, 2nd place on the Stock Car Light championship last year (The Stock Light championship uses the Chevy Astra Hatchback, with a 360HP V8), renewed his contract with M4T Motorsport, but he'll drive on the main even this year, the Brazilian Stock Car V8 Championship.

The Stock Car organization informed the Teams today, that the open free practices will be on the end of this month, on two days, February 28 and 29.

The open free practices of the pre-season will serve the Teams to start the adjustments of the cars and to be the first time to test some of the new rules. It will be the first time the VW Bora will be at the track, against the Chevy Astra Sedan and the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX.

It's not confirmed yet, but the first race of the Season will probably be on April 9th, at Interlagos.

PS: On a side note, i just signed to with one of the teams. (i didn't renew my contract with JF Racing.) I'll be the Chief Engineer of one of the cars of a team using the VW Bora. Can't say which one yet, due to contract restrinctions.

I'll start working next monday. :)

Some news:

- Hot Car Competições will have Popó Bueno as the driver, with the sponsorship of Hospital São Luiz.

- According to what's being talked, L&M Racing got a very healthy sponsorship for the 2006 season and will have two good drivers , driving for them. Valdeno Brito and Wagner Ebrahim.

- VW Bora almost ready. The teams that will race with the VW Bora this year, are almost ready, finishing the cars. The Mitsubish Lancer passed through some aerodynamic changes, but i can't comment since i haven't seen what's changed.

Could not find a bigger pic. Eduardo "Duda" Pamplona will continue to be the driver. From the pic, it seems they'll still use the Lancer Evo VIII body.

As a bonus i post a probably final layout design of Alceu Feldmann's car (Boettger Competições - Chevrolet Astra Sedan)

Whats the racing like in this racing series? Is it anything compared to bigger more well known motorsports?
The cars look real '90s like...

It's just like the DTM, but with lower costs.

Tubular chassis + 500HP V8 Engine + fiberglass (strengthtened with Plastic) body.

Bodies are made to resemble the:

- Chevrolet Astra Sedan: Mostly the same design as the previous generation sold in Europe, but in Brazil, it had a modification on the front and back

- Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VIII: Don't know why they haven't updated the body to resemble the EVO IX.

- Volkswagen Bora: Although know as the previous generation, VW of Brazil will continue to sell the Bora and the updated version, as Jetta, as a new product.

Johnny... you know I'm interested in learning about the world of racing. The world of racing isn't just NASCAR and F1. I'm the one who coined "BTM" in describing the Brazilan Stock Car series. The cars look as outlandish as the DTM race cars. I appreciate your wanting to share one of South America's best motorsports, much less Brazil's best. Anytime we can see the world through the Internet, that's cool.

It's nice to see the race went well. It was also nice to see JF Racing place very well. I congratulate you for your podium position in P3. Wonderful job. Keep up the good work. Anytime you can do good in the first race, it means you have promise of winning the top prize. To acheive that top prize, you must do well in your racing and try to capitialize on others' mistakes and stumbles. Will you work to get maybe one or two better positions in the next race? Do it for GTPlanet, because we're behind you all the way.

Actually i'm now working with Nasr-Castroneves Racing / Volkswagen Bora, with Hoover Orsi (2nd place in the round 1) and David Muffato (2003 champion) as drivers.

The Bora performance was better than we expected, since we didn't had much time to test. David Muffato had problems due the accidents.

Johnny
The information i have is that the Astra continues. Chevrolet wants to keep it's sporty reputation, and let Vectra to be more of a premium car.

Anyway, some rumours:

- Nasr-Castroneves Team (50% owned by Helio Castroneves) is trying to bring Max Wilson, that have been driving V8 Supercars in Australia to be the 2nd driver of the team. Hoover Orsi, 3rd place in the championship in 2005 will continue to be the 1st driver of the team. Some people mentioned that Volkswagen had meetings with the team, so they',ll probably use the Bora next season.

- Cacá Bueno, 2nd place in the championship in the last 3 years will probably race next year for Eurofarma-RC Competições, replacing Luciano Burti, that went to Action power. Antonio Jorge Neto will continue to drive the 2nd car of the team.
no you brazillans wont get max willson be cause v8 supercars is way better than this form of motorsport
