Bring your real life car - autocross and time attackOpen

How come 05XR8's Megane is classed as street car and mine a 'sports car ' when he has 5 more bhp than me?

Howdy everybody. First off, this is my first "event" on these forums, as I have ran into some free time, bought myself a g27 (to replace my old DFGT), and no longer have a means to do Autocross or HST.

Alas, when I was googling to see if there were some GT6 leagues out there I ran across this specific topic, which spurred me to read into the WRS, which prompted me to submit a registry qualification, which then spawned me to actually do some of these fun TT's like this one to see how it is!

So, here goes:
Real Life:

 that's a fast time for 170hp, great driving! You definitely beat me...

And welcome to GTP online racing :) I'll see you in WRS sometime, too. :D

I am going to have to try this.. will do both cars and edit post with times tomorrow

We have a 2006 Mustang GT convertible. Which one would you recommend? The 2005 or 2007? Also, it has no mods, so this should be interesting.

2007, Because it's a premium. It looks better.

Because it's a convertible, it's a bit heavier (add 100 kg. Ballast) and the weight is as far back towards the rear as possible. The GT6 Mustangs have incorrect weight distribution.

I hope this isn't rehashing a resolved issue, I'm sneakin a couple minutes from work so in-depth research isn't possible.
Anyway, my question; I USED to drive an Evo VII, sold it a couple years ago and now I drive a '97 Civic Coupe.
Do I need to run my current ride or would I be able to use my Evo?
Thanx in advance for the reply/feedback.

Well it may be rather hard for me to be able to post a lap time.. Saying my only mode of transport at the moment is a Vauxhall Combo from work.. Although I am looking at buying a new car soon! :P

Would a Corsa count (as the Combo is based on the Corsa?)

EDIT: Or can I drive an old car I owned (Peugeot 206)?

Ok so GT6 doesn't have my car IRL but they have something close so I used it. I'll let whoever decide if it counts.

IRL
2007 VW Passat 2.0T FSI
APR Stage 2+ ecu software
3" turbo back exhaust
Modified HPFP
CAI
Crap ton of other mods lightweight pulleys, bov, ect...
Koni/nuespeed suspension
300hp 340tq
1516kg
Dunlop ultra high performance summer tires

GT6 car (closest car that would hit weight and tq numbers)
2010 VW scirocco r
Weight added to meet 1516kg
Ballast added to correct weight distribution
fully custom suspension ride height lowered only
Stock trans
Stock drivetrain
Performance parts added to make 300hp 338tq
Sports mediums tires
All aids off abs1

Gt arena 30.258
Nordschleife 7.44.070
Total time 8.14.328

The Scirocco is probably just glitched,. In GT5 it was really, really fast. Not necessarily Corvette-beating fast, but somewhat...
Maybe a bit but even the 05 gti corners crazy fast for a 60/40 fwd. I just redid the run with the gti and it was only 3 seconds off which was probably driver error :dunce:

Ok so I got really bored today so I made a few other cars if they don't count whatever I was just really bored and I like the concept of building your car in gt6.
First up my first car, the all mighty 95 mercury villager minivan:bowdown:
Bone stock
157hp
1810kg
Gt6 car
Renault avantime '02
Power dropped to 157hp
Weight added to 1810
Comfort soft tires
Rest bone stock
Gt arena 34.486
Ring 9:34.203
Total 10:08.689

Number two
My parents 08 rav4
Stock obviously...
Gt6 car
Mazda mx5 crossport '05
Power matched 269hp
Weight added 1667kg
Comfort soft tires
Arena 31.802
Ring 8:24.709
Total8:56.511

And finally my sisters 04 Mazda 3
Also stock...
Gt6 car Mazda axela 23s '03
Power lowered to 160hp
Weight added to 1282kg
Sports hard tires
Arena 31.052
Ring 8:35.265
Total 9:06.317

Another Entry

2014 C7 Corvette (Z51)
Stock 460HP ( with NNP Exhuast Option)
MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport ZP

GT6

Chevrolet Corvette 14(C7)

Sports Hard Tires ( possible argument for sports medium but not sure)
Exhaust Modification ( to replicate NNP option)

Times

Nurburgring 7:49.01 ( cold lap no warm up) felt terribly slow had to fight the brakes the whole time probably 5+ secs off pace
GP Arena 30.038 (31.1 5 lap Average ) kept it in first most of the lap for best time

Total Time 8:20.11

I was very curious about how that car could run so slow so I replicated your car 460hp rest stock on sports hards and gave it a go. I averaged the same arena time of 31.5ish but on the ring I hit 7:25.075 on the first lap. So there is definitely room for improvement

Well I may have dethroned the Sports Car category king, @vdubguy88 :P

So I have a Saturn Sky Redline:

3vE1Gaf.jpg

As this car is not in the game, I used the Solstice Coupe Concept '02 (in real life the Solstice and Sky share the same GM Kappa platform).

(IRL) Saturn Sky Redline
-24psi, stock K04 turbo, tune
-E85/91 mix
-K&N CAI
-EBC drilled/slotted rotors, Hawk HPS pads & stainless lines
-Werks intercooler
-Howe radiator
-DDM tunnel brace, Werks rear frame brace
-Adjustable collars on stock Bilstein coilovers
-Z0K springs and swaybars f&r
-Solo high flow cat
-Magnaflow 3" catback
-Enkei PF01 18x8
-Continental DW all around

(GT6) Solstice Coupe Concept '02
-Racing Suspension: Hard
-Racing Brakes
-Full customize transmission matched to RL gear ratios (only using 5 of 6 gears though as the Sky is a 5spd)
-LSD
-Stage 1 Engine Tuning
-Sports Computer
-Sports Exhaust
-Supercharger (no turbo option :indiff:)
-Added 40kg ballast to match real car weight (1358kg / 2995lb)
-369hp/368ftlb (horsepower is about right, but in real life my car should make considerably more torque than hp)
-Sports hard as per OP.

Was able to hit a 7:40.462 on the Nürburgring and a best lap of 30.683 on GT Arena, for a combined time of 8:11.145.

Just ordered a new intercooler yesterday so when I get around to putting it on ill give this another go with my extra 10-15hp and see what happens. Oh btw if I go out to my car and take out the spare tire and subs could I lower my weight for the run by 46kg :D

IRL Porsche 2000 996 Carrera
RWD, 6spd manual
Several GTP's (@Hyper-Dan, @Duke of Pendle) have seen the car and I gave @Sureboss a lift to the Northern Karting event in it a few years back (he saw 150mph a few times :D)
Otelle by-pass exhaust
MPS 2 tyres

GT6 RUF RGT
Detuned to 300bhp
Weight left stock for the sake of 10kg - my car is slightly lighter
Sports hard tyres

GT Arena 30.071
Nurburgring 7:28.953
Total 7:59.034

Personally, I think the tyre classifications for this 'event' are off.

IME, sports hard tyres have far too much grip for a road tyre... A stock 996 GT3 mk1 in the hands of Walter Rhorl managed just under 8 mins at the 'Ring, with 360bhp and road tyres, so running 30s faster than that with 60bhp less is a bit silly, as is @vdubguy88 running 7:44 in a 1500kg Passat  (nice looking car BTW... very clean 👍)

MPS2's are one of the best road tyres you can buy, and are at best a CS tyre in GT6.

SH tyres should be the very best quality road legal track day tyre, such as a MPS Cup or a Pirelli Corsa.

SM wouldn't be legal on the road in most countries.
