Bringing a new F1 racetrack design to GT6/7

Hey guys!

I got blueprints for a F1 racetrack that was supposed to be built recently but sadly enough the project was shut down due to politics.

The track is designed by Hermann Tilke (makes many of todays F1 tracks, look him up...) and I got the idea that it would be amazing to get it into GT6!!!

I got this idea during Christmas time last year. I`ve tried contacting everybody at Sony who I thought could help out but that was to no avail. My goal was to get in to contact with anybody from PD, hopefully Kaz.

What I want to know if there is any way of getting Kaz to see the track with some help from the community.

For the track to end up "in game" the only thing they`d really have to do was to put the dimensions of the track into their programming computer and there you have it.

This track is amazing! It was drawn up to be built in Norway. There`s insane elevation changes, high speed curves and generally some insane features. Whenever I look at the designs I feel as if I´m looking at the Nürburgring`s little brother.

Nobody has responded from Sony

How can I make you fellow GT enthusiasts, help me? What do you need to see to start a petition going for the track being added to GT6? Who do I contact to send the designs to Kaz?

Can we get Jordan´s opinion on this? I know that if any of you got to see the track or parts of it you´d be in awe!

I would really love to realise this guys.. help me figure out my next steps. thnx

Feel free to PM me regarding this.

Wish you luck. Sadly, i don't have any Kaz contact information.

You could try get in touch with him by twitter: twitter.com/Kaz_Yamauchi

Let's just hope that this track is something that really worth to drive on. Because pretty much every Tilke's design are crap.

You got my support, for whatever is worth, but because of your enthusiasm and not because of the track. I loathe Tilke and his "designs", I think he's one of the worse things that has happened to motor-racing besides Mr. BS Ecclestone.

Still, nothing wrong with variety. It's surely overdue having some Nordic content, tracks like Mantorp and, of course, Volvos and SAABs 👍.

In all honesty, you make it sound simpler than it is to make the track.

That "Putting in dimensions" thing would be a shell, without texturing or any trackside details, lighting... Anything really.

And it isn't likely to be in the stock game, so will be DLC. Going off current DLC prices, it'll be £0.79, so I think many would want more than one layout (Montegi has 4) for their money.

Now about the track itself. It's all well and good saying "I feel like I'm looking at the 'Rings little brother" but that's kinda irrelevant without seeing it.

Apart from that, the contacts are your only problem; I guess...

Well I found an onboard.

It isn't bad.

If F1 hired him to design the track wouldn't F1 still have the rights to that work?

He didn't design the track though. He just brought it up to world standard with regards to track safety. Secondly I don't believe FOM would pay Tilke for a track they don't use. They would just demand the track be designed/redesigned by Tilke if they want it considered for F1 use.

Ah with the way it was worded in the first post it sounded like it was going to be ground up built.

I mentioned it because some are apparently under the impression that PD announcing the 2500sqkm course maker automatically equates being able to replicate any circuit on the planet. There is no need for your condescension.

Have you seen his GTP name? :D

Then I would have seen you telling that to every other person that has made this assumption of "create any track imaginable" mindset.

:D 👍

For the first two or so days after it was confirmed that the area of the Course Maker layouts would be so huge, I was confused about whether or not it was confirmed that we'd have unlimited freedom in track creation since 99.9% of the posts about it were, "I'm going to make this, and I'm going to make that." I didn't get it. Even though some of them were what-if scenarios, most people didn't make that clear or they really were so sure that we'd have creative freedom.

Ok, I'll bite.

Why would PD approve your request for the track to be in the game? There are countless tracks in the real world, that actually exist, and probably a good 10-20+ that PD has at least considered already or at least thought of in some capacity. What makes you think they'd jump at a track that doesn't exist for no reason just because you mentioned it to them?

For the track to end up "in game" the only thing they`d really have to do was to put the dimensions of the track into their programming computer and there you have it.

Wrong, that's not how it works at all. If it were that simple we'd have 200 real world tracks. Each track has to be scanned and then modelled which takes over a year. Even if they were to use their own creativity to model the look of the track like an original track, that still takes an equal amount of time to model.

You are being very unrealistic. PD already have a backlog of tracks to add to the game and you want them to add a track that doesn't exist just because you want it in the game. Join the line with others hoping their favourite tracks get added into the game. I don't know why you think this track that again, does not even exist, should get special treatment.

You are a dreamer. Why would your track deserve any more treatment than a regular wishlist post? A track that was never made is not that special. We all have dreams, I also have some local tracks that I would love to see in GT6/7.

The track was made. The OP's post is poorly worded. There is onboard video in post #8 of this thread. Doesn't look like anything special to me.:yuck:

The way I understand it, he's not talking about the recently renovated Rudskogen, but the older never-developed plans for Rudskogen, which was both longer and meant to attract F1 testing.

Is this your track, op?

something tells me you aren't getting responses because their would be some legal **** storm for a track that you don't have the actual rights to showing up in their game without going through the proper channels with the actual firm/designer of the track and people that requested the design of the track.

Exactly what I was thinking. Just because you have blueprints doesn't give you legal right to reproduce the track in a game.

So what?

When someone makes a point on an internet forum, they have to repeat it over and over and over for you to think it is valid? If I had that fantastic logic I wouldn't be condescending towards others.

So long as the official circuit name isn't used then anything goes, as far as I'm aware. See Project CARS.

The reason that they would include is that this is an easy track. The 3D work is almost done. The only thing they would do is to convert it to the PS3 system.

Imagine that a normal real track take 3 weeks to be put on the game. His track would take only 1 day. It´s a lot faster. So, why not? I didn´t look at his track, but, if it doesn´t look too bad, I completely agree with including it to the game. It would cost PD almost nothing and would increase the number of in-game tracks.

They still can't recreate every detail of the track. See how they changed Cote d' Azur or the Project Cars version of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Other than Cote d'Azur PD doesn't seem eager to use unlicensed tracks.

You realise it doesn't take just a day, right?

This is from someone who spent more than a day on a (hugely smaller) indoor map in the Unreal Development Kit; it's many things including the bot-pathing, which is pretty vital so the AI follows the driving line. That was a pain to do!

When I said "Imagine that a normal track take 3 weeks (...) would take one day" I was still referring one day. Of course I dont have any idea how many time it does take. But I dont need to be a genius to know that a track that it is already modeled, with 3D work done, would take a lot less time than start from zero point.
