Well it's been a while since I've asked for help. Mainly because I haven't been here. Either way, I've come across an issue and I'll be damned if Google can help me. I'm hoping you guys might be able to.
Over the course of the last year or so I've been working on a friends system. It's gone from an old Core2Duo rig, upgrading bits and peices eventually over time to what it is now. Specs:
Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.8GHz
Gigabyte GA-P55-UD4 (I think from memory. It's an 1156 board anyhow, of course, as is the chip).
8GB (4x2GB) of Ripjaws memory @ 1600MHz (BIOS automatically throttles it back to 1333MHz).
Paliat GeForce GTX560 SE with a Zalman cooler I ripped off an old GTS250.
2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit OEM
That's the basics anyhow. Point is, we took his old HDD from days of old and put it into this rig. Booted into BIOS fine, and loaded the OS. When the Windows symbol and "Starting Windows" message appears, the little orbs spin around about once, it freezes, bluescreens, and reboots.
The bluescreen only flashes onto the screen for a best a half second before it reboots.
Google provided that suggestion that it's a RAM voltage problem, whereby the RAM requires 1.65v, and the BIOS is only providing 1.5v. I checked this, the RAM only requries 1.5 anyhow, and that is what the BIOS is specifying as.
I've tried booting into Safe Mode, which also crashes. We also attempted a disk repair, and after waiting 1 and a half hours for it to fiddle about, got the message "Windows cannot repair this disk automatically" and then figured we'd like to help Microsoft out by sending a report.. which we did not.
Apart from that, I'm stumped. Any and all help is appreciated. No urgency on this one, as much as my friend would testify to that
Cheers.
