I got the BSOD on winXP install a while back too. It was because I was installing an old service pack version which was not compatible with new hardware. I had to install it on the same HDD on another computer and then update to a later service pack before it would work on my hardware.

The ISO i'm trying to install is SP3 should I try SP1 or SP2? Also can I update it later through windows to SP3?

If you have the latest service pack, that's probably not the issue. My problem was that I was trying to install XP with SP1.

Oh ok now I get it, I should have re-read your earlier post. Do you know what else could be giving me problems?

All kinds of stuff....

Almost any piece of hardware. If it occurs at the same spot, it's not too likely to be RAM or CPU (although it could be a CPU instruction that causes problems). I suspect the motherboard.

I have tried installing the following linux distros and all of them also fail to install.

Ubuntu
Lubuntu
Xubuntu
Linux Mint
OpenSUSE
Fedora15 LXDE

I can boot up to the main menu of these distros but then during installation a lot of text code comes up it's to fast to read. I'll upload a video later maybe that will help. Usually it's something along the lines of "Panic occurred switching to text console" then it freezes or a lot of other errors come up.

Here is a strange little update. I can not get into the Boot menu (F12) While on battery power. I can get into it when I have the power cord connected. Strange? Could this be related to the problem.

I can get into the Bios fine with or without the power cord.

Dead Mainboard.

Replace it or bin it.

Up to you dude as it is a mainboard issue and these are not cheap to replace.

I turned hyper threading off and it seems to work.

Also I managed to get pretty far in the Lubuntu install but I get this error

The following file did not match its source on the CD/DVD:

/target/usr/share/i18n/charmaps/ISO_10646.gz

This is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive, or a faulty hard disk. It may help to clean the CD/DVD, to burn the CD/DVD at a lower speed, To clean the CD/DVD, to check whether the hard disk is old and in need of replacement, or to move the system to a cooler environment.

I get the option to skip, abort or retry. If I skip I get the same error but with a different file. I keep skipping maybe the install might work with these missing files.

Could the main board be dead because of the BIOS flash?

Well the installation failed at the end. It was so close to finishing and it crashed. I think it has to do with my DVD drive because it is extremely hot right now.

Try an USB DVD drive if you think it may be the DVD drive or use a USB iso mounting program.

I used plpbt to boot from USB and could get upto the booting section and it still gave me the same error. At least now it doesn't just fail as soon as I try to install it. Any other Ideas?

Is there a way I can check to make sure that it is the mainboard that is causing the problem?

I'm having a really hard time getting into contact with Toshiba. I can't find their email address and I get stuck on hold with their phone service? Do you guys know an email address I can use.

Also is there a way I can reflash the current bios but not through windows. Like can I boot up something and use it to reflash the BIOS maybe if I just reflash it, it might work.

Thank you for helping me this much.

You should be able to do it via a floppy drive.
