I read that it was an improvement, not a disadvantage? So confused.

Apparently they are more stable, so it depends how you like your car to behave whether it's an advantage or not.

It wonder what they've actually done with the rear bias cars, have they changed the overall physics of the game or have they just added grip multipliers to certain cars? If it was a change to the overall physics then maybe it has the opposite effect on front-heavy cars? :ouch:

Its an improvement for unstable rear heavy cars such as the RUF Yellowbird or Lancia Stratos but it kind of kills the added rotation you'd normally associate with rear bias.
I found I was just cooking the rear tyres with the extra weight at the back and not getting any positive gains from it so something has changed but I can't quite put my finger on what.

What's the stock weight distribution for the Nissan and Hyundai? Surely they're front-heavy? The BMW is 50/50 so it makes no sense that it should be affected by changes to rear biased cars, so it must be a change to the physics as a whole, which is maybe why all cars seem to be affected.

The Hyundai, Nissan and BMW are all slightly nose heavy in stock form (between 54:46 and 52:48 if memory serves).
The effect isn't tied to stock weight distribution it seems, feels like the physics change the way a car works once ballasted beyond 50:50

It usually is where GT physics are concerned.
The physics modelling runs a lot deeper than in previous games, lots of small influences affecting the bigger picture rather than big influences affecting everything equally. It will take a while to figure out what exactly has been tinkered with and to adapt to the new needs tuning wise

car is better for me at laguna , a lot less understeer , slower in s1 which again points to the top speed change

go figure

This is what i've found as well. Did a bit of testing yesterday at Laguna to compare times. I'm at least a second down on my times from before the update.

Before the update i was able to do low 33's comfortably, but since the update struggling to get into the low 34's; generally getting 34.5xx.
It's so annoying isn't it? I'm a fair bit slower around Indy too, I tried altering a few things here and there but it just made no difference. It doesn't feel different, but the times are worse, so I can only guess that the car is slower than before. Who knows?

Yeah, its strange mate. Can't really put my finger on whats wrong with the car. Maybe this is what it was meant to be like to begin with. LOL. Probably gonna have to play around with the setup see if i can get it back where it was.

@SkengD no idea. I never pay attention to speed at end of straights.

Had a session round Laguna today and my best time in the alfa was 0.7 down on my best from last week. It feels nicer than before, better turn in and less understeer but somehow the times are a lot slower. I'm not sure about top speed because I can't remember what it was previously.

Fiddled around with camber and toe, and for me it felt best with 0.00 rear toe as opposed to the now standard 0.60. I was playing with camber around the 1.0-1.5 range and it didn't really make a difference but I think I did find an improvement with higher settings, my best time was after going higher with the camber. I didn't experiment with the weight distribution though, I kept it at 52:48 so I'm gonna check that out tomorrow

I'll be tomorrow at some stage. Will try Laguna again, then a bit round Indy as well.

Difficult to find the time to practise with the world cup on.

What you been doing there?
