From the 60's Dart, Falcon, Nova.

You'll get more if you don't pay the muscle car buyer's tax.

If you put on your backwards cap you can look into Fox bodies and third gen Camaros.

I'd typed out a hefty post explaining what I'd choose in the UK, but really that budget means £5k and it's hard to get anything I'd actually want for that money.

Instead, I went on Hemmings, and found this, this, and this.

Heart says the El Camino. Head says the Buick. Sense of humour says the Dodge. Heart would probably win out for the patina.

:lol::lol: I love how caustic you are some times

I'll throw this in the mix because I learned to drive in a wagon that I wanted to fix up before my dad unceremoniously sold off:

You know the drill, Fox platform, everything done to a Mustang can be done to one of these, so there's no way of doing something wrong. And they can look decent with some imagination, even with that funky rear window:

I mean look at this, that damned stipe back there looks awesome, I'm ste3aling it for a custom Hot Wheels project got dammit!

And automatic cool because, as I said, wagons:

AND because it's a car that even I can buy in here for cheap still. Not as cheap as the prices you find in the US, but still affordable.

The Dart/Valiant has always been one of my favourite Mopar cars...but I think an Aspen can still be found for less money.
