Budget Ring Challenge 200 Movie

I like the format. Looks nice and it makes for quick comparisons in between between external & internal points of view. This may not be the place, but how about some details on how you made this.

My captures are plain video captures to a Haupauge WinTV card using Windows Media Encoder. I have it all up on http://www.youtube.com/GrandNationalX

I just hooked my PS3 up to my stand-alone DVD recorder via. s-video input, and then reset the PS3 video output to SD (480i NTSC) by holding down the power button for 5 or so seconds. Then I recorded the playback to DVD in 3 different views. On my Mac I extracted the video from the DVD to 3 Quicktime movies (I de-interlaced them during this process). Then I cropped, scaled and combined the three movies using Quicktime Pro and saved that copy uncompressed to avoid losing quality. Next step was iMovie to add in the music tracks and end titles. Would have loved to play around with more special effects, but really didn't have the time. Finally I exported the finished product using h264 compression sufficient enough to bring it in at around 100 mb. Up until this step it all looked great - very crisp and clean, but getting a movie of this length & size down to 100mb meant compressing the video a lot.

Nice! How about timing all 3 views??? Not that I can really notice, but how'd you work out sync'n them? Did you just eye ball it or did you use anything for that?

No, just eyeballed it. (This is very easy in Quicktime Pro, just get it close then use the arrow keys to select frame by frame, so it really only took a few minutes to do that part).

i figure, if they were all the same length - you could've just set the time from start to finish.
