Budget Wheel + Stand Setup for UK

So I've been thinking about the Logitech Driving Force GT. I thought about using it in conjunction with the wheel stand, but that doesn't seem to be available in the UK (is that correct?)

I could probably run to the €345 or so for a Fanatec setup, but I'm not sure I could justify it to myself, and do I need the 3-pedals? I'm only going to be playing GT5 with it.

So, 345EUR is a bit steep (but if that's the only quality option, then OK), I'm hoping to bring in the rig nearer the 250EUR mark. Any less than 150EUR, and I'm going to be sceptical about quality. Also, a separate table is not really viable, as I want to be able to put the rig away in a cupboard.

Recommendations would be most appreciated.

To fit inside a cupboard? Your pretty much asking for a Wheel Stand Pro or the Fanatec Wheel Stand. Though I have built a wheel stand with my father and it's pretty stable. It only takes up about 2ft by 2ft area and it's perfect for me since that I don't have that much room. Here's an image and I posted a lot more pictures in the cheap cockpit thread.

Most likely it would only cost around $20 to build with materials. Just add some zip ties and you can forget about the wires. My suggestion is to look through the cheap cockpits thread because some really nice ones can be made on the cheap.

You're looking at £90 for the WSP & £80 for the DFGT.

You can get the WSP for the G27, plus the DFGT pedal attachment for £109 if you're thinking of upgrading in the future.

Thanks guys. No wonder I couldn't find the Wheel Stand Pro on the Logitech site. I don't know where I got the idea that it was a Logitech product!

I like the upgrade path that using the cheaper wheel & stand gives me.

We all know where you got that from.......

WSP is associated with mainly Logitech products and it's always RSWS vs WSP or Fanatec vs Logitech....

I made a wheel stand out of 6 or 7 1x6x5 pieces of pine, totally about $30 US. It is essentially what Nick09 pictured except wood. It's very stable and is fairly light, but much more cumbersome than a wheelstand pro folded up... BUT it is cheap (monetarily speaking) and, most importantly, it's home made!

Seems everytime we get a thread about wheelstands someone normally American has made their own 👍 for the effort.

No it is made of wood, pine wood to be exact. The wood is just covered by black spray paint. I based it off of this post. I just made a detailed drawing by pencil, list what parts I needed, and built it with my dad. The stand at most only moves a bit to side to side on tight turns. Then after I'm done racing I just wrap the cables around the wheel and store it next to the coolest door(which you can see in my picture I posted before). My mom does not mind it as long that it's out of the way.
