First off - Torana I have merged two of your posts together as they were posted within minutes of each other. Here at GT Planet we generally like updates of this nature to be done by editing your previous post rather than creating a new post. Thanks in advance.

I'll just add that the body was all steel, so I think we must stick to Stage 1 weight reduction.

The bodies may well have been all steel, but nothing in the regs prevented them from being acid-dipped. This was and still is a common practice in almost all forms of race prep when you are not allowed to use a custom bodyshell or alternative material.

My preferred method is to use weight reduction to get close or under the weight and then use ballast to bring it back up, after all that's exactly what the design team of a race car will aim to do.

The following is a list of all the models I can think of that were homologated for Super Touring, I don't know how many of these are available in GT4.

Renault Megane

Also, two door cars were outlawed in the early '90s

The Megane was too short for Super Touring regs, Renault replaced the Renault 19 with the Laguna for Super Touring homologation.

Anyone remember the Mondeo, Accord, Laguna, Primera and 406 in GT2? You could race modify them with the BTCC liverys:D

That was fun.

i wish we could still use the race liverys in the same way, i had all those cars you mentioned altho i never had a favourite at the time, p.s. could u get the A4 as well?

True, but if I recall not all of them were the 'correct' base car.

The Laguna certainly wasn't, the GT2 car was the 3.0 V6, which could be race modified to the BTCC colours, yet the BTCC Laguna was homolgated from the 2.0 16v model (as the super touring regs at the time did not allow V6's).

So it looked the part, but was the wrong car.

I think that Mazda 323F fits in too, 2l V6, 160bhp+. I'm just building BMW 120i into BTCC/Super 2000 spec, and I'll let you guys know how it comes out. luckily, I've had a chance to look closely into Super2000-class Integra Type R that had it's suspension fixed at our school.

- no adjustable wing
- relies more to advanced suspension tuning and tyres than downforce

- our teacher, who is the suspension mechanic in the team that owns this above mentioned ITR, told that it weights about 1150kg at minimum, depending of success in the races. He said that the power is around 250-270bhp, and funny detail: the block was from CR-V/HR-V, since the block/cylinderheads are stronger in those than in actual ITR engine. He also gave us a list about the important points of the suspension tuning. I've translated it to english and if you wish, I can put it up here, even though it might not be fully useful in GT4.

- H-pattern box, since sequential box would had meant weight penalty
