Greets,

Well I managed to build a new machine in anticipation of Half Life 2. I know...a little extreem for one particular game, but as it was in the past, I believe that HL2 will once again set the standard.

So, here's a brief run down:

P4 3.2HT
Antec 550w True PS
2x512mb DDR400 Dual Channel Ram
2xSerial ATA150 120GIG WD 8mb (Configured Raid0)
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb
2x80gig IDE Drives
DVD+/-R/RW Drive
TDK CD-R/RW Drive
2x19" Flat CRT monitors.

Here's a shot of the guts:

I like, that's mostly better than mine, and only two parts equal...(RAM and Video card)

Two monitors... Damn. So can the mouse pointer move from one monitor over to the other?

That's a nice rig Pako. 👍

You should move the IDE cables out of the way of the CPU fan.

Wow, those serial ATA cables are tiny!

Very nice, one day i'm going to have to build myself a half decent PC.

:embarrassed: I currently don't have any heat issues as of yet. Running heavy processing it will hold a steady 116deg F., which is still well within stable temps. At idle, the CPU runs at 90 degrees. I have yet to see any good OC settings for the P4's 3.2 running the D875 board, if anyone has resources of what settings I can adjust to better optimize my system, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hoooly ****! I actually know what you're talking about! It's not gibberish! Yay, the day of my liberation has arrived at last! :P

Nice system Pako, though I'd change one thing. Sorry, but I gotz ta say it. I'd put an AMD CPU in the box, them t'ings kick Intel's arse. ;)

Try telling that to my dad's P4 2.0 gig, a 3D mark of 10,500 isn't something that I've seen many athlons do. (I should know, dad used to have one. Computer crashed at least 4 times a day.)

Oh come on, you know Athlons own you! Take the 64, kicks arse over the Intel. :D

They would be a lot higher...

Nice PC! The little I know about the damn things suggest you have all the latest techno doohickies.

I have two questions:

1. How much scratch did it cost you?

2. Can you build me one? :D

I need a new PC. My old one exploded a year ago. I would like to convert all my current VHS tapes to DVD. I would like to store High-definition movies onto the hard drive. I need a PC that can be compatible with those new Blu-ray High-definition recorder disc drives that will soon hit the market.

1.) Building this machine actually put $10 in my pocket. I gutted out my old system, put it in a new box, installed some software and sold it for what my upgrade cost with $10 in my pocket, so it was good timing to do so.

2.) Sure! It took about 4 hours to strip and build two machines. With the SATA150 Raid 0 config, it only took 7 seconds to format 240gigs... wow...it was fast.

My Athlon XP 2000+ hit 10,000 and something once. After that I could only get like 9,800.

What are you talking about? :mischievous:

And please try to stay on topic.....

Thank you.

I dont think I could fill up 400gigs or come close to filling it up. All I need is another 20 or 30 gig and I'm fine for quite some time.

There's always pr0n, :mischievous:

I think I'll settle for around 200 gigs, there is a point thats overkill though. My friend has 0.75 terabytes, thats 750gigs on his home network of 3 computers, his main computer has about 500gigs.

Bit of a waste but what the hey.

What the hell does he have on his computers!

I have a 40GB HDD and a small 4GB HDD and there is still 56% left on the 40GB one.

my first generation AthlonXP 1900+ gets a 3d mark of approx 9800...that's considering i've got a semi-fried motherboard, & poor quality ddr ram and it's one of the first 1900+ chips to hit the market. Since then, amd has improved the quality of both the chips and the heat sinks on them. If i had a better power supply (it's also faulty), i'd have less power fluctuation and my chip wouldn't be as underpowered as it sometimes gets. hell, my machine wouldn't have as many probs as it does if my bro had let me build it rather than take it to some guy that barely knew what HE was doing in the end.

Hmmm.. 560 Gigs on the server. 70 in my gaming box. 150 in the GF's box, 80 in the HTPC, 80 on my wrrkhorse and 80 in the webserver.. You do the math ;)
