Bump Drafting

The SR algorithm for Blue Moon Bay needs to be changed to allow this. It’s perfectly valid and helps both people when done correctly. Just my two cents, as you were.

I agree mate. But I think that the majority of people (playing GTS) do not even know what it is so.......

I had a guy bump drafting me yesterday on the Blue Moon race, I was kind of conflicted, on the one hand we are both losing SR, but on the other we were gaining quite well on those infront. definitely needs something to changed to allow it, but how will the system know the difference?

It cannot. Its a basic system for road races and cannot work in oval racing.Yet the fact that you were losing SR for "bump drafting" tells a lot about how effective it is overall. You get to lose points for that, yet others get to actually hit and put people out of their way with zero SR loses..

They could set a different parameter for oval tracks maybe.

@maclarenLB

It should work as you say but sadly it does not.Yet a lot of people still think that the penalty and SR system is fine....

What is the problem with it though? It’s very easy to get and keep a SR of S. So if you’re finding it difficult to keep at S then you’re definitely causing half the problem.

Otherwise, at SR S level the racing’s not that bad. If you use your mirrors and radar then most problems can be avoided. You the occasional bump nothing to get worked up over.

Sure the algorithm isn’t perfect and gives out odd penalties occasionally, but it doesn’t affect the racing and doesnt materially affect your own SR rating.

Every single time I post something like this (pretty much every day @Robben :D ) there is gonna be another member saying that somehow I have a problem.
Yet mate I've never dropped out from SR S rating and what I write is about SR S rating drivers. Its easy to point the finger to the users and not the game I guess......

The problem is S SR needs to be higher to maintain, there are ways to push people off the road and gain an advantage without SR detecting it and there are some scumbags that have mastered this.

SR downs should be given not when there is simply a collision, but a collision that negatively effects someones race, and when it does effect someones race the drop should be much heavier than it is now. Think of it as making SR downs less frequent, but more punishing.

I am well aware this is a nightmare to program, but the game does do this to a certain extent, it just needs more work before it's in a good place imo.

You fall down an open manhole/grid. Although you could say it should have a warning, first and foremost you should've been looking where you were going? Yes?

The GTS system isn't perfect and I for one hope they can tweak it, but if everybody drove as intended, the current system would work very well. It does in lobbies where everybody is racing as intended for me anyway. It's rogue behaviour of it's users that requires it to be looked at.

I am talking only about Sport mode and rating system.Example:there is no way to report dirty drivers to PD.Dirty moves are gonna happen no matter what the system is/works.But where is the in-game report system? There is none. And on top of that people can (one way or another) play around the system and
a. Have an SR S rating
b. Race dirty at the same time.
Thats been the problem since beta and still no improvments made.

You don't need to bump draft though, as long as you find someone that understands that working together is for both peoples benefit. I had a race last night where I would overtake the guy into the 1st turn and then just stayed high up the track so he could blast past me into the banked corner. Then I would overtake him in the home straight again.

We did that for about 9 laps and built a few seconds advantage on the people behind without touching each other once, you just need a driver who understands what you are doing.

I was very sad when I tried this for the first time and got the hit. Tried it again to make sure it wasnt a fluke and took another sr hit doh!
