A source tells Us the actor went into cardiac arrest at a hospital in Florida on Thursday, September 6. His family was by his side.

After starring in TV shows such as Gunsmoke and Dan August,Reynolds rose to fame in the ‘70s for his breakout role as Lewis Medlock in Deliverance. The actor, who has nearly 200 film and TV credits, also starred in multiple successful films including 1974’s The Longest Yard, 1977’s Smokey and the Bandit, 1996’s Striptease and 1997’s Boogie Nights, the latter of which earned him an Oscar nomination.

He leaves behind his son, Quinton Anderson Reynolds. Such sad news. :(

RIP Bandit.

The bandit was an iconic character, but Deliverance is still one of the most disturbing movies I've ever seen, damn fine acting though. He was great in Boogie Nights too.

I also grew up watching Burt Reynolds as Bandit and as Paul Crewe in 'The Longest Yard'.
My old man often used to say how he liked the slow-mo shots of the players bones
crunching.

Other favorite characters of mine that Reynolds played, apart from ones already mentioned by others above
and some I can't think of right now, were when he was Sheriff Dodd alongside
Dolly Parton in 'The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas', him as Jack Robinson in 'The Man from Left Field'
and him as Judge Walter Burns in 'Mystery, Alaska'.

I saw Driven in the cinema back in 2001 and as bad as that movie was, I found a jem from it a few years later when I
learned of a deleted scene in one of the outtakes between Reynolds and Stallone.
It remains as one of my favorite movie scenes.
