Buttkicker Problem

I've just obtained a Buttkicker Advance wireless kit which comprises a BKA300-4 power amp and a BK4 Advance tactile transducer. It's a secondhand unit that I picked up very cheap from a well known internet auction site.

I changed the battery in the remote control and setup the unit. For test purposes I fed it a signal from my PS3 via the RCA multi out and loaded a sound file of subwoofer test tones. That setup works fine when I test my Aura Pro Shakers which are powered by subwoofer amps.

The problem is that the Buttkicker amp light is red which shows that it is powered up, but the light does not turn green when I play the subwoofer test tones from the PS3. Is it possible that the amp is not receiving a strong enough audio signal from the PS3 to power up and turn green?

Any thoughts or comments gratefully received.

You have to push the On/Off button on either the amp or remote. Red means off, yellow standby, green active signal.

From the manual: http://fischer-amps.de/uploads/media/BKkit4_BKA300-4_Manual-E.pdf

POWER STATUS INDICATOR (Tri-Color LED)
When the LED is “red” it indicates that the Amplifier is plugged into a
power source. A “green” LED indicates that the Amplifier has been turned on either by using the Power Button on the front panel or the “On/Off” button on the Remote Control. If the Amplifier does not receive audio signal for more than 60 minutes the Amplifier will go into “stand-by mode” and the LED will turn “yellow”. Once the amplifier receives audio signal again the LED will turn “green”. If the Amplifier is turned off the LED turns “red”.

Thanks for comment Logiforce.

When I plug in the power lead to the BK amp the light shows red. When I press the power button it remains on red. I have plugged the PS3 output direct into the BK amp (not into the wireless transmitter unit) and know that it is producing a signal as when connected to the rest of my tactile system I can feel shaking.

Guess it is cheap because the amp was broken then. Even my Gamer 2 BKA-130-C amp switches from red to green when I push the power button.

Try contacting Buttkicker support. They give great support and hopefully they can give you a solution.

I tested the BK4 tactile transducer today using a different amp and it works fine.

The BK amp is not working and blew its fuse twice so unfortunately Logiforce is right - the kit was cheap because the amp was broken.

I will contact BK for support and let you know how I get on.

I had similar prob....I had to hook mine to my external amp/ Sony receiver I couldn't get mine to work directly from the ps3...try to send sound to TV or amp/ then output from there to the kicker....that's to only way I could get mine to work!
