From the Buttkicker website: "Feel the low end without making the room loud. Turn down or turn off your subwoofer and still feel all the bass you want. Experience powerful bass even while using headphones". How is this possible? It seems like the volume of your receiver powers the buttkicker amp. The more volume I use the more my butt is kicked. I can't see how this would work without volume coming from your receiver.

Yes this is quite easy to achieve. When I'm not running with simvibe (PC software) and use my buttkicker the traditional way I simply use a splitter from my audio out, one end goes to the Buttkicker amp the other goes to my stereo (headphones in your case), be it headphones or stereo either will work.

That qoute can me missinterpreted pretty easily. They're refering to an actual subwoofer as opposed to the silent subwoofer/transducer (buttkicker). so yes you can turn off your actual subwoofer and instead use a "silent" subwoofer (they still make noise btw).
Volume control (intensity control is more accurate) is done through the buttkicker amp, anything in charge of sending signals to the Amp should be maxed out (like on PC you want your output at 100%)
