Buy Hagerty car insurance, get a McLaren F1 GTR

Wow. There is a lot of whining based on made-up nonsense in here.

If you have an old car.... an old Toyota pickup, a VW van, a Miata, or simply anything over 20 years old that is worth more on the open market than it is to some normal insurance company that makes their nut on Altimas and Camrys, then it is VERY MUCH worth it to look into Hagerty or a similar company that compensates for the true value of a car. This is not some "tool of the elites"... what a pathetic, knee-jerk, and completely uninformed viewpoint. Insurance through Hagerty is not only cheaper than most, but they will pay out what the car is worth rather than what some mainstream insurance company would. The only caveats is that they put a cap on mileage in most cases, and you have to prove you own another car that is a daily driver. This is a profile that MANY of use car enthusiasts fit, with cars that don't cost much at all. That guy that tracks his Miata is so elitist, right?

There are also many different companies that offer incentives outside their company for using products that fit within their wheelhouse... in this case cars and car people. Next up you're gonna tell me that getting that discount code for headphones from a podcast I already listen to puts me in bed with Bill Gates and Elon Musk. lol

Thanks for the laugh today guys. I'm gonna be waiting with baited breath to see what other outrageous comments come from those with zero understanding of how collector car insurance works.

And one more thing, if you're using the internet, own a PS5, GT7, an IRL car, and live in a place with a roof and electricity you ARE the 1%. So take a second to breathe and think about how unfair this really is. It's just another way for some to complain about how they can have every car in the game RIGHT NOW.

I'm guessing you are a Hagerty member and got the livery already.

Exactly. lol.

I got the livery and think it’s a little unfair in light of what is going on. On the bright side, it completely blows the “you shouldn’t expect to get a McLaren F1 in two weeks” argument out of the water.

The fact of the matter is that Hagerty may be “cheaper”…but it’s on top of your standard insurance and inherently means you have an extra car that you essentially keep for fun. Classic cars come with additional maintenance /etc..so it’s a little more nuanced than simply saying it costs less than State Farm on a daily driven car.

Edit: I am not rich to be clear. The car in my profile pic isn’t exotic, but I think some of the overall sentiments about this are spot on.

This actually prompted me to submit an insurance application with them, not so I can get the F1, but because the rate in their automatic quotation is pretty good. We'll see what they say 😅.

Nope and nope... but I love that every time anyone defends something on the internet anymore it can only be because they have a dog in the fight and not because of, you know, rational thought and not having a knee-jerk reactions to something that is being incredibly blown out of proportion.

I have looked into Hagerty extensively, but have not as of yet changed anything. With the value of my RX7 continuing to grow, it is something I have been seriously considering.

And one more thing, the McLaren F1 is a beautiful and amazing car in real life, but purchasing it in game means nothing to me, and I don't know if I ever drove the road car I owned in sport. So even if I had Hagerty, I might not even be bothered to get the damn thing. I love GT for stupid normal cars, not the exotics we've seen in games since NFS1.

Ah yeah, a wall of text to hide the "kids want everything right now" falacy. You almost got me, almost.

My apologies then. Just sounded like you were preaching at me from the other side of the fence.

Tell me you didn't read the post without telling me you didn't read the post. It's a problem when people comment and don't even know what they're responding to.

And yeah, although I signed up for it, it's annoying that a couple weeks into the game people want every. Single. Asset. While the people playing Oblivion or Elden Ring or Horizon are still having fun trying to find things that take insane amounts of game time to find. People spent YEARS in WOW doing the same. But, like I said, since you likely didn't read it, I DO NOT CARE about these insanely priced supercars, and DO care about junky hatchbacks and plebian road cars, so although I share the same anger about the MTX debacle and online only BS, I know future update are only going to make the game better, and it doesn't make me mad enough to come and complain about it every day, or call people getting this Hagerty code "elitists" like some nonsensical child.

Don't read this post either. We wouldn't want you having to actually add to a discussion you've chosen to participate or anything.

I mean, it's T3 VW van. It's likely to be a lot slower than a Le Mans-winning race car...
Oh my yes. But you can't transport, feed, and sleep 4 adults in a McLaren. Or park it on the street in the neighborhood where I work. My Westy has the Bostig 2.0L Zetec conversion, which at 130 HP is a 53% increase over stock - not blazing fast but a definite upgrade.

The Corvette in my avatar has Hagerty insurance. I didn't care about the code but since so many of you are all hurt about it I'll have to check it out.

The Pagani they did this with is also very easy to obtain anyway. Also, it's Totino's not a whole insurance policy.

You had to buy one pack of Pizza Rolls. Not insure your car.
Y'all better put some respec on the Party Pizza's name. Those things got me through many a lonely night in college. And survey. And possibly tomorrow night as well.

I apologize too @LSFDRX , but your usage of an LS in the RX-7 requires me to immediately rescind that apology. 🤣😝
Ha ha ha... never heard the "LS bad" sentiment before , lol. I'm pretty used to it!

If you'd like, I'll go out and get a THIRD 13-B for it, and you're MORE than welcome to pay for the extra fuel, apex seals, time spent wrenching, all the pre-mix oil, all the oil it will burn, the rebuilds and all the downtime etc... !

What I'd rather do is get in, turn the key, and always have 380rwhp and 30+mpg! Unfortunately, I just like driving it too much to let it suffer, and my wallet appreciates me not throwing money at something that WILL fail.

But seriously, one day it probably will get another rotary, it'll just be an NA 20B. ;)

I don't see any problem with this. PD got a partner and are giving a cool bonus to those who support them. And it is not a exclusive reward. Nothing to be mad about.
The free car is not really something to be mad about, no. The thing to be mad about is that PD partnered with a company whose only input on the game was to make cars on the whole cost far more than previous games because they based them on their real life prices.

There is nothing positive for the average player about the Hagerty Partnership.

It's technically not a free car ,more of a perk for people in the club who have insurance through Hagerty.

If they were to offer a 50% discount to join the drivers club without actually having to purchase a policy to anyone who purchased GT 7,they would sell 1000s,because how many GT players actually own an insurable car ,but it's all about advertising and they probably would get more clients.

PD is happy because they might sell more copies, and maybe more PS 5's, it's a win win.

This is Hagerty's "suggestions and feedback" email...Tips@hagerty.com...

The money Hagerty has the potential to make could be in the millions, let them know if you like the idea of a car a year for the next 4-5 years and joining without having to buy a policy.

Now the only drawbacks i see in this is getting a duplicate or the "free" car for the year is nice but inexpensive, lol.

I know alot won't like the idea but it's unfortunately the way of gaming in 2022 and has been for going this way for almost 2 decades.Online only with cash options,it's not going away.
$22.50 for a Legendary car once a year,could be a thing.
And you get a welcome gift and a Mag every 2 months .

Edit: At $45 a year x 10,000 subs x 5 years = lil over 2.2 million
At 22.50 a year x 50,000 subs x 5 years = lil over 5,6 million.

Economy issues aside - I noticed that the F1 GTR's side numbers still doesn't align/tilt as with the car's default number (this was an issue in GT Sport's Livery Editor). Though it does seem to be less of an issue since Sport Mode and career races no longer impose Livery Editor number boxes (I do still use them btw).

For comparison, as it appears in GT Sport:

What the haters don't understand is that this tells me you've left it virtually stock, and other than replacing a rotary 9/10 times it's lighter than what you are replacing. But everyone not paying your bills will always judge you when they've never faced the decision.

And yeah, I have Hagerty insurance on an old car for exactly what you mentioned. It's 1/3 the cost of my regular auto insurance company and yet will pay appraised value for it (The other will pay depreciated book value unless you fight with them endlessly and provide 1000 examples of prices, and even then). And yet I'm not a Drivers Club member AND am not butt hurt by this. Weird.

Best not to make assumptions about the experiences of others. I was being tongue in cheek with my comment. Let’s not go down this road and derail the thread! 😂

Well, the thread is about the free car. But I see your point regarding the evaluation of the cars and the current in-game economy.

VXR
And Forza just had you buy a controller or nail varnish. This game rewards purchasing actual insurance.

What a time to be alive.

Or a bag of Doritos...

Personally I don't care about this car. My Beck quote is more a statement on the commercialization and monetization of every thing somebody may enjoy looking at, playing with, or listening to. Yes, I know, In this game a promotion like this is like a fart in a hurricane but I hate having carrots dangled in front of me.
