Call of Duty: Ghosts [Out on Current and Next Gen]

The X1 is supposed to have all dedicated servers. So for those of you on the X1, is there still host migration? Or is it for sure on dedicated servers?

I got this for PS4, and its the most fun I've had with a Call of Duty game since Modern Warfare 2 or Modern Warfare 3.

I love the freedom you have to make your class, since I've never used pistols or grenades, I can have 6 or 7 perks running.

Yep. COD doesn't get much love around here, but it's probably my favorite since COD4.

Not sure if I'd go that far, since I had days logged on MW2 and MW3, but this game is definitely better than any of the Black Ops games in my opinion. The maps on MW2 were just too good to be matched.

COD4 maps > MW2 maps. :P At least everyone I know who was a hardcore COD4 player was disappointed (initially) with MW2. In the end, it's a better game than MW3, but Ghosts is better than MW2 in terms of game structure, although the maps still aren't exceptionally great. You can't ever cover your back 100%, too many ways to get to you and places for people to spawn. In COD4 I loved certain maps and looked forward to them. I never did that in MW3 and not really in Ghosts either. I guess they do have some good sniper maps in this one. I like playing on Whiteout and Stonehaven just for sniper battles. Actually I find the snipers with thermal are pretty overpowered if you are good with them. I use Overkill with Honey Badger and VKS thermal and I have a 3.80 right now. My accuracy is 38% because I snipe on pretty much every map and that's the highest it's been in any COD so far.

The main issue I have is the 'intentional death respawn system'. It's the worst yet in this game. You die once and a lot of times it = 3 deaths. 1 legitimate death, then 2 respawns right in front of the hallway some camper has been aiming down for the last 3 minutes - or you come back at the top of a stairwell where some guy just spawned right below it and he shoots you in the back after you take 3 steps. And I know they didn't 'mess up' when making the spawns, they did that intentionally so that the complete beginners could have a chance to get a kill in multiplayer, or to generally try to make things as 1:1 as possible. I understand their reasoning but they need to come up with a better way of making it more balanced. I don't think it needs to be drastically different, they just need to make the ranking system easier so that people who get few kills can still advance. Actually, the Squad Points idea is brilliant for that.

I like all the customization and perks etc. to a degree but it's overkill, and that all started with MW2. COD4 rewarded you the most for aiming skill, map knowledge, and reflexes (despite 3 grenades perk and martyrdom). The second they added stuff like heartbeat sensor, final stand, and even thermal, the game started going downhill. As much as I used One Man Army, it was a way overpowered perk. You basically have infinite claymores, etc. Dead Man's Hand? Give me a break. I'm so glad the death streak garbage is not in this version, and I think that's a lot of why I like it better than MW3. The kill streaks are not too overpowered either, but definitely there is more camping in this version that I've seen in a while.

Anyway, I've been playing Modern Warfare for a long time so I'm pretty opinionated I guess you could say. :D Feel free to disagree. I'm just like that and I just do things my own way. :) I literally took Black Ops back after two hours of playing it and put it toward repurchasing COD4. Didn't touch Black Ops 2 either. I'm just like that. I literally never ever used Final Stand in any COD either because I simply hate the idea of people being rewarded for being bad at the game. Only death streak I ever used was Revenge and Pain Killer.

I can't speak for COD4, MW2 was my first COD. On MW2, I remember almost always getting a Pave Low on Highrise, Terminal, and Wasteland. I was awful at Rust but loved playing on it. Sniping was great on Afghan. MW3 was less memorable in terms of maps, but I loved the way Hardhat was set up and there was one jungle-ish map that I would always have a 4 or 5:1 KDR on. I'm all about the maps, as you can tell. On Ghosts, I only seem to do consistently well on Strikezone, Stormfront, and Whiteout. Sometimes Octane, depending on how many snipers there are.

I own two CoDs: the MW2 and this, which I got for christmas for current gen.
I found Ghosts to be a nice game. Campaign story is fairly good, but I didn't like the ending. Driving the vehicles was tricky, especially the tank. But the real critique is the length of the game. Took me 6-7 hours to finish it in Regular.
Multiplayer, coming from MW2 ,it takes a bit of time to get used to them because they are huge and you can get round the map a few times before finding some one that kills you from behind. (I'm a rusher I get killed a lot).

Was just playing on Stonehaven, got 4 kills in a row on the road along the backside of the castle. Then one of the guys I'd just killed respawned in the back of the castle and ended my streak when he took a few steps and shot me in the back.

I figured out something though. If you hit the respawn button in the middle of the killcam replay, you are much more likely to spawn in a dangerous location. I have fewer respawn deaths of my own when I go ahead and let the full replay play out.

That's why I always get killed before I even turned around as soon as I respwaned. Stonehaven is a paradise for snipers, that map is immense with huge height differences and good places to camp. I'm still to "noob" to afford a sniper rifle, I'm level 5 yet

Use thermal with a silencer. You can see the tiniest enemy helmet poking over a wall completely across the map with thermal. Also, Icognito is a good perk to use on that map so that you don't show up on other snipers' thermal scopes. But basically I use this class on most every map now. The only alteration I use is a Honey Badger with Hardline.

Perks: Overkill, Off the Grid, Dead Silence (I use a headset and hearing enemy footsteps gets me a lot of kills)
Primary: Honey Badger > Grip > Tracker Sight
Primary 2: VKS > Thermal
SatCom, Guard Dog, Helicopter

I keep the Honey Badger as the 1st primary in that class so I can use two attachments with it. Side note: I've noticed that you have less gun sway when aiming while using the tracker sight, which is why I switched over to using it.

I'm still to find the right loadout and I still haven't found my way around that many options. I've been playing GT6 and Ghosts so I didn't had the opportunity to explore every single bit of the multiplayer game.

Dead silent is really useful but I don't have a headset to take the max out of it. On MW2 my favourite loadout was:

Wepons:
-MP5K w/ silencer.
-SPAS-12 shotgun w/ grip

Perks:
-Scavenger Pro;
-Cold-blooded Pro;
-Commando Pro

I also did a lot of sniping and my loadout was:

Wepons:
-Barrett 50Cal. w/ either Thermal or FMJ
-M93 Rffica akimbo

Perks:
-Faster realoding
-Stopping Power Pro
-Steady Aim Pro

So I guess they won't differ much from what I had because I got used to them, but with the addition of more perks it'll get more interesting
